Excellent, thank you. Oregon has declared a State of Emergency to have access to resources, same old stuff. New cases have been confirmed.

Important note (@Lilibet , as this is exactly what we were discussing a few days ago) is the mention of the homeless as a high risk population, right along with the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.

Yes, thanks @margarita25. I was impressed with several mentions of focus on the homeless and other vulnerable people (older folks like my husband and me). There will be a focus on setting up testing in rural counties like mine so that testing can be done with more safety, not exposing more people than necessary (most of the state is rural with many counties more rural than mine). Volunteer health care workers will be used for various things like this. Oregon is a pretty progressive state already...I learned that 94% of Oregonians have access to paid health care and paid sick leave is legally mandated. The governor has promised to inform citizens about where new cases are located (county) and the age range of those affected. She is in touch with Oregon legislators in D.C. to make sure we get whatever funding we can. Overall, I feel much more confidence in my state officials than I do federal.

Just checking in with everyone. I’m taking Tylenol for the fever, expectorant when needed. Feeling exhausted when I’m awake.
I don’t have the symptoms for someone with the virus. No sore throat. But some coughing. Just this fever, headache and feeling run down.
Please excuse me for yesterday. I normally don’t feel sorry for myself but after watching the local news and hearing about more deaths it was too much yesterday.

Everyone thank you for your concern on how I feel. We have a great group of people here.

It’s an understatement to say this thread has the ability to run one down. It did that to me last week.

I can not emphasize the benefit of rest, and taking breaks here ( coughs, (hygenically) @Henry2326 and @gregjrichards.)

This basically does it....the rates for SK and Italy of cases per million population are significantly over China's top level and took a much steeper turn than China.

Gates-funded program will soon offer home-testing kits for new coronavirus

Testing for the novel coronavirus in the Seattle area will get a huge boost in the coming weeks as a project funded by Bill Gates and his foundation begins offering home-testing kits that will allow people who fear they may be infected to swab their noses and send the samples back for analysis.

Results, which should be available in one to two days, will be shared with local health officials who will notify those who test positive. Via online forms, infected people can answer questions about their movements and contacts, making it easier for health officials to locate others who may need to be tested or quarantined, as well as to track the virus’ spread and identify possible hot spots.

Initially, the lab will be able to conduct about 400 tests a day, eventually expanding to thousands of tests a day, said Scott Dowell, leader of coronavirus response at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The project is ramping up as quickly as possible, but it’s not clear exactly when it will launch, he added. Among other things, software needs to be upgraded to handle the expected crush of requests, and a detailed questionnaire finalized for people who request tests.

Coronavirus in NY: Rockland County caterers test positive, guests ‘may have been exposed’

The Rockland County Health Department warned residents Sunday morning they “may have been exposed” to coronavirus if they attended events in Monsey where two virus-positive people worked.

Two caterers from Ramapo tested positive for the illness after working two gatherings in Monsey: on Feb. 28 and 29 at 150 Remsen Avenue and on March 2 at the Atrium Ballroom, a catering hall.

At least one of the caterers worked a funeral on Feb. 22 or bat mitzvah on Feb. 23 at the Temple Young Israel of New Rochelle, where the Westchester County attorney linked to the majority of New York’s positive cases — identified by sources as Lawrence Gabuz, 50 — is a member.

So, there is no powdered milk around here.

So I bought an extra carton of milk and put it in the freezer.

I read an article a few weeks ago about food you can freeze and was surprised by some of the items. Also good freezing tips. It was an article in The Independent, a UK publication that I read online. I didn't keep the web address or link, but it was called "A Complete Guide to Freezing Food: What You Can and Can't Put in the Freezer.' It was based on an interview with a doctor on Australia's Today show. Dr. Joanna McMillan (I printed out the article) "dispelled some of the myths around freezing foods, and revealed which ingredients many of us don't know can be safely frozen, such as eggs and herbs." I will try to find the link. I am going to try to freeze peeled bananas and eggs cracked into small containers.

Americans worried about coronavirus are stockpiling bullets to fight coronavirus.

Online ammunition retailer Ammo.com announced that it had seen a 68 per cent increase in transactions since February 23.

Marketing manager, Alex Horsman, said: “We know certain things impact ammo sales, mostly political events or economic instability when people feel their rights may end up infringed.

“This is our first experience with a virus leading to such a boost in sales.”
