(Reuters) - Italy's southern regions warned hundreds of thousands of its people who emigrated to the wealthy north of the country not to return home, amid fears of an exodus from a no-go zone set up to halt an outbreak of coronavirus.

However, the governor of Puglia, the heel of Italy's boot, made an impassioned plea on Facebook for them to remain in the north, the epicenter of Europe's worst coronavirus outbreak.

"I speak to you as if you were my children, my brothers, my nephews and nieces: stop and go back," said Michele Emiliano. "Get off at the first train station, do not catch planes ... turn your cars around, get off your buses. Do not bring the Lombard, Veneto and Emilia epidemic to Puglia."

So back to Massachusetts:

LoL....from the info below, I think only 1 has the chance to be community transmission since they haven't figured it out yet.
-----------------------------------------
Health officials say three of these five people had a direct connection to a conference held by the biotech company Biogen between Feb. 24-27 at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston's Seaport District. The fourth person had recently traveled internationally, with a stop in northern Italy, according to officials, and the fifth case is still under investigation.

Five of the seven presumptive positive cases announced Friday were also linked to last week's Biogen employee conference. These include three Boston residents—two women and a man in their 40s—and two residents of Norfolk County.

The people with the two remaining presumptive cases in Massachusetts had recently traveled to northern Italy, officials say.
Massachusetts Coronavirus Cases Quadruple Over 2 Days, Now at 13

“Of the five new cases announced Saturday, four are people from Middlesex County: one woman in her 40s, one woman in her 50s, one man in his 40s, and another man in his 60s. The fifth case is a man from Berkshire County in his 60s.”

Hmmm.

So:

1. F, 40s
2. F, 50s
3. M. 40s
4. M, 60s
5. M, 60s

If he has pneumonia, then what would be the point in using a test on him? Seems like it would be wasteful. Would the treatment differ?
Wouldn't it be prudent to test him to put him in isolation, warn others he's been around?

My coworker just called me to see if I was at work. Turns out she's in the ER with her husband who was having a hard time breathing. They returned from a trip to Arizona about a week ago. The flight was from sac. Airport to Las Vegas to Arizona. They are not testing him for cov19 because they said he hasn't had contact with anyone who has traveled outside the country. He has every single symptom. I just don't get it.
Airports... can come into contact any place there, ie, restroom.

As a Canadian who doesn't own a gun why would a supply chain issue make you want to buy more ammo if ammo wasn't an issue before the virus?

Believe me, there is absolutely no rationale when talking about ammo to gun owners. You can never have too many guns or too much ammo. No matter what.

Perhaps, it is a hoarding mentality, security issue. Some people feel more secure with 200 rolls of toilet paper, others feel that stockpiling ammo is their "toilet paper".

I think that I need more chocolate. Preferably dark. :)

Ministers have warned local councils to prepare for a potential coronavirus death toll as high as 100,000 as the UK sees its second death from Covid-19.

Whitehall officials have given the 'central estimate' to Town Halls as the UK moves firmly into the second phase of the government's strategy attempting to delay the spread of the virus

According to the Sunday Times a unit in the housing department has issued guidance to local councils about how many casualties they should prepare for.

When questioned on the figure, First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon - who has dialled in to Cobra meetings on the virus - did not deny the figure.

We're looking at the scientific worst case scenarios," she acknowledged.

Boris Johnson will head a fresh emergency cobra meeting on Monday which will discuss further precautions.

New stat that shows the critical importance of #coronavirus testing: WA has now tested 1246 people. 136 of them - nearly 11%! - have tested positive. #COVID19

This % will likely fall with the expanded criteria for testing + ramp up in capacity that widens the net beyond sicker individuals. But @UW virology lab is reporting a consistent 5-7% positivity rate too. That suggests we have a *LOT* of cases here. UW Medicine says it has extra capacity for coronavirus tests; bottlenecks may lie elsewhere

Somebody has got to find the guts to end this madness....

Thirty-three thousand people came together last night in Seattle to watch a soccer game. There are 102 confirmed cases in Washington, including 16 deaths.

"Here are the latest developments:
  • U.S. citizens, particularly those with health issues, should not to travel by cruise ship, the State Department announced Sunday.
  • Seventeen coronavirus deaths have now been reported to officials in Washington state’s King County, where a nursing home outbreak has ravaged the elderly, strained staff and left families deeply worried.
  • A 60-year-old German tourist died in a Red Sea hospital after being infected, Egypt’s Health Ministry said in a statement.
  • Virginia has its second presumptive case, health officials announced Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the Washington area to seven.
  • After being stuck in limbo for days off the coast of San Francisco, the virus-stricken Grand Princess cruise ship is headed to Oakland, Calif., on Monday to dock, the cruise line said early Sunday."

The US State Department issued an alert Sunday urging US citizens “particularly travelers with underlying health conditions” not to travel by cruise ship due to the risk of coronavirus infection. The warning comes as 21 people on the Grand Princess cruise ship off the coast of California have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the New York Times.

The alert from the State Department says many countries have put into place strict screening protocols that have denied entry to ships and prevented passengers from disembarking, all to try to contain the spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.

“While the U.S. government has evacuated some cruise ship passengers in recent weeks, repatriation flights should not be relied upon as an option for U.S. citizens under the potential risk of quarantine by local authorities,” the alert states.

I'm really saying bleep to these people on cruise ships...anyone that went on a cruise after the Diamond Princess gets low list on priority to me...they are taking up resources in California. At some point where does all this personal responsibility come in?

WASHINGTON/WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (Reuters) - The organizer of a large gathering of prominent U.S. conservative politicians and activists said on Sunday he had some "incidental" contact with an attendee who has since tested positive for coronavirus, but that he felt "healthy as a horse" and had not heard of anyone else falling ill.

"I had incidental contact with him very briefly," American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp told Fox News Channel's "Fox & Friends Weekend."

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence also attended the gathering in late February, but Schlapp confirmed that neither had contact with the person infected by the virus.
