This is so true. There has to be something other than "stay home if sick," otherwise life is completely unpredictable, not knowing if people will be able to show up as scheduled.

I am planning an event that will be happening this Sunday. I'm nervous this week, not about the event, but that I might get a sniffle. Do I cancel the whole thing and tell people not to come for a sniffle?

There are days when you have to just plow through, even if a little bit under the weather, to meet commitments. But do we now stay home with a sniffle or scratchy throat "just in case" we have COVID? IDK.

Serious questions. I have a sniffle myself and I cough at least once a day. Is paranoia setting in or should I worry enough to stay home? Today I'm subbing, like I often do, carrying my Lysol wipes and staying in the front of the classroom (large chemistry lab room). I hesitate every day over the right thing to do.

Those are the "people" whom I prefer most anyways. Although, we have a spoiled cat.

I am just going to work, coming home. Hoping for the best. But the denial I have seen is epic.
I think in KY to get tested one has to have verification of out of country travel or contact with someone that traveled. The WMT employee had neither, yet how could she know if patrons had traveled?
We are having our morning update from the gov’, nothing new, just “wash your hands, remain calm and live your life......”. No new cases but a strong “there will be more.” We know a couple hundred are in the testing process.

So the coronavirus.gov website is still redirecting to the cdc homepage.

You would think the site would be up and running when the Vice President announced it yesterday.

People who attended Blindboy podcast in Ennis required to self-isolate due to coronavirus

UP TO TEN people who attended a performance of The Blindboy Podcast in Co Clare last month, have been ‘required’ to self-isolate after it was confirmed that a person with the Covid-19 virus was also in the audience.

The HSE’s Department of Public Health Mid-West wrote to a number of people on 5 March to advise them that they had been identified as having been in close contact with a person who had been confirmed to have contracted the virus.

I think not. However you might get a few nasty looks when you have your daily cough! ;)

Happy to hear on the school announcements this morning (as I am subbing high school chemistry today) that all students and staff who have traveled out of the country and even out of the state are to report to the nurse each morning for a temperature check. Small step, but any proactive step is a good one. IMO

Our KY gov’ said we can test 14 daily but once the private labs are up & running 1k tests per day can be done.
Satellite pharmacies can now be established as well.
Of the six cases KY currently has, only three are hospitalized, the other three are able to improve from home & self isolate.

I'm curious if anyone here has a plan in case someone in their household becomes infected but told to stay home. My husband is afraid he could bring it home to me and wants to be isolated from me if he gets sick. I honestly don't think I could manage taking care of him without having some contact.

Six people in Brunei have tested positive for the coronavirus after the tiny Southeast Asian nation reported its first case a day ago.

The first coronavirus patient in the sultanate was a 53-year-old Bruneian man who returned from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on March 3 and started showing symptoms four days later. He was one of 90 Bruneians who attended a mass gathering of Islamic missionaries at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur. The health ministry has quarantined more than 20 individuals who came into close contact with the man, and is urging Bruneians who attended the gathering to come forward for testing.

In neighbouring Malaysia, the prime minister’s office said 12 more people tested positive on Tuesday, taking the total to 129.

I'm long overdue for a mani/pedi and decided to bite the bullet and made an appointment for this afternoon. The nail salon is immaculate, and I'm sure they have taken every precaution to insure that clients are safe.

The NYC Mayor gave the latest update Tuesday morning:

"Giving New Yorkers a lot of guidance about how to be careful. Wash your hands more, use hand sanitizer, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. If you're older and have preexisting conditions don't visit folks who are sick. If you want to see your grandchildren and they have the sniffles that's not the time to do it. New Yorkers are pretty tough and they're listening and making adjustments," De Blasio said.

The mayor also warns that insufficient testing may be clouding the scope of the virus. He says that while the city's testing ability has improved he is still waiting for approval from the FDA to do automated tests.

"I mean - we are able to keep getting people tested - if we had the approval from the FDA for automated tests it would be thousands of tests we could do in a single day - with results the same day. And that would help us to get people. Look, people need to be isolated. It would allow us to make sure that happened as quickly as possible and that we could give people the whole truth about what's going on. It unfathomable after this long that these tests haven't been approved," De Blasio said.

Mayor: At Least 25 Cases of Coronavirus in NYC

Good luck, when I went last week, I was half way thru when a new client sat next to me. I commented on her tan...., only to learn she had just returned from a cruise to MX. lol.

Distressing info

Coronavirus victims to be immediately buried without funeral service

According to Keith Massey, from Rom Massey and Sons Funeral Directors, radical recommendations distributed by the Irish Association of Funeral Directors comes as a result of the virus remaining active in a victim of Covid-19, days after they have died.

"The problem is Irish funerals occur very quickly after death, typically within three or four days and the current taking up the virus will stay with the deceased for several days afterwards," he said.
