I knew we were being lied to!

I’m really bummed because I have facemasks ordered that are either never coming or aren’t coming until mid-April through mid-May. All I have is one old N95 that I’ve used to clean several times.

Australia - Free telehealth services and pop-up testing clinics will be set up as part of the federal government's $2.4 billion health response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The government released the details of its health package last night, and promised further measures are on the way.
From Friday, Australians will be able to bulk-bill phone hook-ups with GPs to diagnose coronavirus symptoms.

Colorado hospitals taking precautions to address coronavirus cases

“All of the system’s hospitals have negative airflow rooms, designed to test and treat patients with symptoms of communicable diseases like COVID-19, while limiting the spread of the virus within the facility.

When possible, patients should call ahead to let the hospital know their concerns and so caregivers can be prepared, Gulley said.“

We're supposed to have 2 cruise ships visit Charlottetown on April 29th...PEI is such a tourist destination. Tourism is such a huge part of our economy, but I can't help but hope that the cruises stop for now.

They've sent notice to parents today that international school trips on March Break (coming next week here) will be cancelled and it's up to parents to decide if we want to travel for March Break. I have no plans on going anywhere. We've been told that if after March Break travel you feel fine, it's okay to return to school. Those who don't feel well are asked to stay home. But what if someone has COVID-19 without showing symptoms? I can't wait until summer break so I can have my little one home safe with me!

I got an email from Medicare detailing their Coronavirus arrangements (very generous) and recommendations (including avoiding long plane trips). There was the following link included with more info:

Medicare & Coronavirus

I got an email from Anthem last week. The test is covered, nurse helpline available, and telehealth. Recommends contact with urgent care, hospital or physician PRIOR to going for special precautions. Anthem had more info on what, how to do and medical sources.

VA Governor Northam to speak at 10 tomorrow.

Yes, I saw those recommendations and immediately thought “how’m I gunna?” There are just the two of us in our 70’s, with the usual aches and pains. Our apartment (a rental) has one bedroom, an office and two baths (one with stall shower, one with tub shower—no grab bars so we don’t use it). We don’t have a bed in the office and one of those fancy inflatable mattresses would be torture for whoever uses it. I have come to the conclusion that if one of us gets it the other one has already been exposed. But for a larger family in a larger house, I can see it working. I’m glad you’re prepared @Sundog.

I'm trying!

MADRID (Reuters) - Spain said on Tuesday it would do "whatever is necessary" to try and stem a rising tide of coronavirus cases, shutting down schools in several regions, suspending flights from Italy and advising against all non-essential travel.

The number of confirmed cases increased threefold from Sunday and tenfold in a week, prompting Spain, which had so far taken few drastic steps, to change tack and announce a slew of measures.

The government banned indoor gatherings of more than 1,000 people in the most affected regions - Madrid, the Rioja wine-growing region and two areas in the northern Basque Country, while all La Liga football matches will be played behind closed doors for at least two weeks.

WHO: 70% of people sickened by COVID-19 in China have recovered
1 day ago

“Officials at the World Health Organization said Monday that of about 80,000 people who have been sickened by COVID-19 in China, more than 70% have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

[...]

“Dr. Mike Ryan, the World Health Organization’s emergencies chief, said it can take up to six weeks for people to fully recover from COVID-19 infections, which could include pneumonia and other respiratory problems in serious cases. He said the numbers of reported patients have not always been systematically provided to World Health Organization although the U.N. health agency is asking every country with cases for further information.”

DH and I visited when kids were little and we loved your little island. We took a ferry over (no bridge at that time) and camped near the beach. I was not aware that cruise ships came in.

Hope everyone stays well. I can't wait for summer either. Hoping this is all a distant memory by then.
