4 coronavirus patients arrive at Spokane hospital for treatment in specialized unit

Four patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus have arrived at Spokane's Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment because the hospital is one of only 10 in the nation with secure airborne infection isolation rooms.
...
So that's 13 in Nebraska (11 of whom retested positive) and four more send to Spokane. Clearly people keep testing positive, and likely there will be more.
And some are running free in Japan because Japan apparently let them just hang out after they sat on a ship/virus incubator for 14 days.

It's probably been running rampant for some time, but prisoner testing was low on the priority list iykwim
Yep, them and the homeless... thing is with prisoners it was mostly contained ( except for the staff). But the homeless, all the public bathrooms, fast food places, college campuses...

What? Only 10 in the nation that have secure airborne infection isolation rooms. Ok sleuthers, is there a list of those 10 :p:D . Asking for a friend.
They are all going to be full, I am afraid.

Tennessee doctor, wife see coronavirus turn their cruise vacation into a nightmare as wife tests positive

More than 300 Americans were taken off the ship and flown to the U.S. on State Department-chartered airplanes last weekend and placed in quarantine, while another 40 Americans -- including Dr. Hopland -- remained aboard.

The Hoplands were scheduled to be on Monday's evacuation flight and had their suitcases already loaded on buses. But then an officer on the ship informed them that because his wife was infected, she had to stay behind.

Leaving his wife was not an option he would consider, Dr. Hopland said. Jeanie was taken away by Japanese officials a day later and now they communicate only by daily phone calls.

Rather than return to the U.S., Dr. Hopland stayed aboard the ship, which is docked near Tokyo.

"If my wife is staying here, I’m staying here,” he said.

It’s driving me crazy that I can’t find the story. He and his wife went on the cruise with another couple to celebrate his 60th birthday. And yep, he was sitting amongst the other passengers when he fell ill (IIRC)

This is the MSM site with their journaling for the couple.

Santa Clarita Resident Continues To Recover From Coronavirus Diagnosis: Part 9

OH! This may be the wrong guy as JJJenny says he's at the other site. Dunno.

Here is the article. This guy in not in Nebraska, and there is no room for him in any nearby hospital. He is the one who got swabbed while leaving the ship, and test came back positive. So he didn't get infected on the plane, he was already infected when he left the ship, but he is not one of the 13 in Nebraska. Those were known positives allowed to fly on the same plane as the rest.
‘It’s an Absolute Joke’: Redwood City Man Blasts CDC After Contracting Coronavirus

JJ, I dont think this RW is the same person, as the 2 couples were the Goldman and Jorgensen's (names have been in MSM all over, so saying here)

And ^^^THIS^^^ is why I think the Olympics will get canceled!!! Not out of fear that the Chinese athletes may be infected, but because Japan is setting itself up to be the next hot zone!! (MOO)

I agree. I said before, it's easier to quarantine the Chinese athletes and their coaches etc to ensure none of them come down with the virus before flying out to Japan. It's everyone else that's the risk, because they can't all be quarantined like that. I think China could put all their Olympics athletes into quarantine right now and keep them there until the date of the Olympics to ensure they're virus-free. I don't think the UK Or US can do that for their athletes. Then you have the crowds of spectators in Japan. Then you have all the sporting officiates and assistants in Japan. Then you have people flying from hundreds of countries to Japan to watch the events. I think the Chinese athletes would likely turn up virus-free, but that doesn't mean they'd be going back home virus-free! Same with all the other countries' athletes, they could test negative twice or more before going out, but how can you test every person who enters the country to watch, or every person who enters the stadia as assistants, officials or viewers?

And if the summer helps reduce the spread of the virus in summer months...what about the countries that will be in the middle of their winter in the Southern Hemisphere soon?

US hospitals prepare for COVID-19 amid uncertainty

I'm still looking, but found this:

The other treatment centers are located in Boston; New York City; Baltimore; Atlanta; Minneapolis; Galveston, Texas; Omaha, Nebraska; Denver; and Los Angeles.

Why was Sacred Heart chosen as a site for four coronavirus patients?

I believe she said he has Guillain Barre syndrome. I specifically remember because she cannot pronounce it. I've followed them, and MOO

Guillain-Barré syndrome - Symptoms and causes

The exact cause of Guillain-Barré syndrome is unknown. But it is often preceded by an infectious illness such as a respiratory infection or the stomach flu.

There's no known cure for Guillain-Barré syndrome, but several treatments can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of the illness. Most people recover from Guillain-Barré syndrome, though some may experience lingering effects from it, such as weakness, numbness or fatigue.
Oh lol I know what it is - I just didn’t remember!

I'm not sure that the government said it, just all of us and MSM assumed based on photos and then we went with it. Someone here found info and posted about the unit, and it appeared in that link that it was a three bed unit.

But I get where you are thinking and agree - the government knew "we" were misled.

"During the evacuation process, after passengers had disembarked the ship and initiated transport to the airport, U.S. officials received notice that 14 passengers, who had been tested 2-3 days earlier, had tested positive for COVID-19," the U.S. State Department, which had chartered the flights, said in a statement on Feb. 17, 2020, using the formal name for the new coronavirus. "These individuals were moved in the most expeditious and safe manner to a specialized containment area on the evacuation aircraft to isolate them in accordance with standard protocols."

The press release did not offer any details about this "specialized containment area," but pictures from the evacuation show a Containerized Bio-Containment System (CBCS) installed on one of the aircraft. The 747-400ERFs are not configured to carry passengers by default and those that had not tested positive for the new coronavirus traveled in palletized seating installed on the planes' cargo floors.”

Okay MOO-
They didn’t say it, they just alluded to it. That’s called deceit. They put the container on the plane. They made sure it got photo op.

I don’t blame Dr. Hopland for staying. I don’t think many people would leave their partner in a foreign country when they are suffering from a virus that could be deadly. It must be very difficult to not be able to see her.

I don’t know what will happen with the Olympics billions of Yen has been spent and Japan needs the boost to its economy. Hopefully common sense about the health of people will prevail over the financial impact.

Thank you for taking the time to find the source document. Was indeed misleading that plastic area is a specialized containment area. Shame shame shame on them.

And I thought no one that had tested positive would be on the plane.
And all using the same bathroom?

So on the plane going back to US, there were 14 knowingly positive, some unknowingly positive, and likely those who became positive during the plane flight. And CDC was overruled by a state department to allow those knowingly positive to fly. When it is known that viruses are easily spread on planes because all passengers are breathing the same recirculated air. All righty then.

Here we go again...

Coronavirus statistics have been a complete mess today: Chinese public health officials said they had been ordered to change how they count cases for the third time in eight days – and the second time in 24 hours. @gerryshih on the chaos:

If this were a movie it would get slammed for the implausibility of it. “It’s ridiculous!”

You really can’t make this stuff up.

That's what we were told, and CDC didn't want them to be on the plane. But state department overruled it. It also doesn't sound like the knowingly positive were in isolation box, and some apparently were not in any isolation at all. At least one guy developed fever while on the plane and only then was put in isolation area.

Back to post #622......and attached link here. There are new pics and video on the story. Some good investigative journalism on this story. Not a fan of the Washington Post, but they did a good job here....IMO

"The infected passengers had no symptoms and could be segregated on the plane in a plastic-lined enclosure. But officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention disagreed, contending they could still spread the virus. "

Coronavirus-infected Americans flown home against CDC’s advice

Could be. The guy who developed fever while on the plane was sitting next to his wife.
