I’m not even talking about prepping for an outbreak, but just for a low supply of things China produces. Last year my dad had ongoing pneumonia. I’m certain his doctor probably told him at some point to get mucinex in addition to the prescribed meds. But two months into it, I finally questioned him about what he had been taking. No mucinex. Claimed he had never heard of it. I drove to the nearest store and bought him two boxes. He finally got the crap out of his lungs and recovered.

For many of us, spring will bring intense allergies that can then turn into bronchitis and even walking pneumonia. Mucinex is key whether the coronavirus reaches us or not. I don’t know where it’s produced so I’m stocking up (also the benedryl and Zyrtec just in case)!
Agree!
I read somewhere that most ibuprofen comes from China as well.
I haven't sleuthed that yet, but a trip to Sam's may be in order!

NAPA, Calif. (WTHR) — An Indiana woman says she's tested positive for coronavirus.

Marianne Obenchain of Cass County was on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan, hoping to vacation in Okinawa. ...

...
She was expected to come back to Indiana, but Monday, she said she tested positive for the virus. She's being treated at a Napa, California hospital, but said she has no symptoms and is feeling fine.

She's hoping her symptoms subside so that she can come back home to Indiana.

Does anyone have a link to how the numbers on the cruise ship progressed?
I'm curious!
MOO

621 of the 3,711 on board have been deemed positive (by test). That is 17% of all on board TO DATE, but about 800+ tests left to come iirc from reports I've seen. (no link, sorry, MOO)

I would have anxiety either way and likely just take an extra Xanax and get on with the flight!
Me too, considering Japan has already acknowledged that the virus is not contained. My luck, I’d get reinfected...

Sorry, I have no idea what this post is trying to relay as has nothing to do with Princess, and these numbers shown aren't supposed to add up. Can you repost as to point the post is asking?

Oh! I see, you haven't scrolled down. Keep scrolling down down down 3 pages for daily reports of the princess. I was saying I don't have day by day, so you'll have to look personally at every day scrolling down to get daily numbers. Someone did a graph above, but did not have the last two days of 88 and 79 folks on it. (e.d. see 9:53:79 in the screenshot for today's total, and then scroll down more for each number for the Princess). To date, the total positive by test (we now all know that is way underestimation of true cases! MOO) is 621 for the ship out of 3,711 total (17% as of today)

South Korea confirmed five more worshippers of an evangelical church had tested positive for the new coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the number of infections from the Daegu church cluster to 15 as the country’s total number of cases rose to 51.

The 15 patients include a 61-year-old woman who was diagnosed as the country’s 31st case on Tuesday and 14 others who came in close contact with her at the Daegu branch of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a controversial religious movement known for its aggressive evangelical methods. Another person she later met in hospital also tested positive.

The woman attended four prayer sessions at the church in Daegu City, 300km southeast of Seoul.

Coronavirus: 15 test positive from church cluster in South Korea

The patient was among some 460 followers when she attended a prayer session on Sunday and it remains unknown how many others were with her for three other prayer sessions she attended.

Pastor Shin Hyun-uk noted that religious events at the Daegu branch of Shincheonji were usually well attended, with at least 8,000 followers attending weekend prayer sessions.

“The place is so crowded and church-goers squeeze into halls,” he said.

The 31st patient and a few others who have been found since Sunday had neither travelled abroad nor been in contact with other confirmed patients, sparking concerns of human-to-human transmission in South Korea.

U.S. Daegu Army base restricts access, imposes self-quarantine after South Korean church linked to coronavirus

The Daegu Army garrison restricted access and imposed self-quarantine for any U.S. troops who recently attended a local church linked to a cluster of new coronavirus infections on Wednesday as South Korea’s infection toll surpassed 50.

The top U.S. commander in South Korea also raised the risk level for the military community to moderate.

U.S. Army Garrison Daegu, about 155 miles southeast of Seoul, also recommended that members of the military community avoid public places and transportation in the city, including stores, restaurants and other heavily congested areas until a trace investigation is completed.

“All service members who’ve attended the New World Church (Sin Cheon Ji Gyo hoe) since Feb. 9 will undergo a mandatory self-quarantine — and is highly recommended for family members, civilians and contractors — until KCDC completes their contact trace procedures to determine who has been exposed to COVID-19,” USFK commander Gen. Robert Abrams said in a separate statement.

“The New World Church in Nam-gu, Daegu (near Camp Walker’s Gate 6) is off limits until further notice,” the Daegu garrison said in a statement posted on Facebook.

It later added four other facilities to the list, saying people who visited them should notify their leadership and self-quarantine as a precautionary measure.

The garrison identified those as the Daegu Medical Center, Suseong-gu Health Clinic, Saeronan Oriental Clinic and Queen Vell Hotel.

Inspectors in protective suits have been going door-to-door in Wuhan in an effort to find every infected person. Wednesday marked the final day of a campaign to root out anyone with symptoms whom authorities may have missed so far.

“This must be taken seriously,” said Wang Zhonglin, the city’s newly minted Communist Party secretary, adding that if a single new case is found after Wednesday, the district’s leaders will be held responsible.

His remarks were published on Hubei’s provincial website, alongside the declaration, If the masses cannot mobilise, it’s impossible to fight a people’s war.

BRITISH nationals currently held on board a cruise ship in Japan following the coronavirus outbreak in China will be quarantined at Arrowe Park Hospital once they return to the UK.

The hospital is still waiting for final confirmation of the numbers staying.

78 British nationals are currently quarantined on board a cruise ship in Japan and the UK Foreign Office has been working to organise a flight back to the UK to repatriate them.

"Following the successful management of two previous groups of repatriated British citizens, from Wuhan in China, Arrowe Park has been asked to host the Britons from Japan and look after them throughout their quarantine period. Everyone being repatriated will be assessed before boarding the plane in Japan, monitored during the flight and will continue to be monitored after landing in the UK. No one showing symptoms of COVID-19 will board the plane in Japan.

"If anyone develops symptoms during the flight, they will be assessed and transferred to a suitable NHS hospital on landing in the UK.

I have a couple of questions that may be totally irrelevant to coronaviruses on a scientific level - but since I don’t know, I’m throwing them out there for discussion...

I know that some viruses are known to go dormant once a person has been infected. It’s also my understanding, from what little I’ve read on the subject, that testing someone for an active virus differs from the testing method required when dormant.
I know this would be something new for coronaviruses, but is it scientifically possible for a coronavirus to go dormant? If so, would the current testing method for COVID-19 provide negative results if in a dormant state?
