No mention of the quebecoise travel history.

15 people are under investigation, in the province.

Let's keep this thread open. More than ever, we need information and civility.

The Sacramento (latest US patient) live feed presser has a terrible connection and keeps stopping. Will have to look for a written update later. Although I doubt anything mind blowing is being shared. Probably just the same stuff we’ve already read about it.

I don't think people worry so much about being turned away as they do about paying for care/being in crushing debt. They often second-guess their needs until they are in an undeniable crisis. That's true for the uninsured and the underinsured alike.

I think there will have to be some well-publicized government assurance that those who are underinsured or without insurance will not be saddled with crushing debt if they seek diagnosis of covid-19 and need care. Otherwise people won’t come forward and it will spread more rapidly.

I’m also concerned about those who have to be quarantined for 2 to 3 weeks who don’t have enough sick leave or vacation time. This is going to send people who are one paycheck away from homelessness into a financial black hole. Or else, they just won’t come forward to begin with.

And to some extent, this overlaps with another major issue...illegal immigration and whether people will seek help when they need to.

I’m not really sure that insurance will be a huge consideration if this thing spreads far and wide anyway. The government will probably have to pick up the tab for all the insurance companies that will be facing bankruptcy. MOO......

A University of California Davis student is under investigation for coronavirus following potential exposure, Dr. Cindy Schorzman said. That person is being isolated at home, and two other students are being isolated off campus as well, Schorzman said. UC Davis student under investigation for coronavirus

CNN on Twitter

According to the article, the three students were roommates in a residence hall. If it’s anything like it was when I was at U.C. Davis over 50 years ago, that means they ate in the cafeteria and passed through common areas and elevators to and from their room. Not to mention classrooms and other venues. Uh oh! This isn’t good.

Press conference coming in mere minutes, I’m assuming they need to actually confirm it’s positive before saying anything more.

I absolutely agree.

IMO, right now we need to watch what happens in Japan, Italy, and South Korea very closely. I believe we’ll know very shortly where this whole thing is headed based on what we see in those locations. All three have community spread occurring, and all three will be more forthcoming with what’s actually taking place.

I don’t really participate in social media all that much (other than here), so I’m curious, for those of you that do, are you seeing much being posted by individuals in those three countries??

An online friend has a sil, bil and nieces and nephews in Italy near the affected regions. She says they are planning to flee via Switzerland. Everyone thinks they are fleeing a virus but how many of those are really just dragging it with them?

Good Point. Difficult to turn away or not treat anyone affected with this degree of seriousness and contagion. Hope, if the case, the word gets out.

Do you have a link to the conference?

Well, I sure hope I can sneak into Mexico or Canada if things get rough here........moo

I'm sure that a single case on a university campus means outbreak on campus. Students move from building to building, classroom to classroom, along with the entire student population. I think it would spread fast.

Thank you for that info!

I would love to know more! Any idea what they are experiencing first hand? What is driving their consideration to “flee”? Is it just the fear of the virus, or???

The individuals that are experiencing this first hand and live where they can be vocal about their first hand knowledge without facing punishment or suppression are the ones we should be paying attention to the most right now. MOO
