Watching closely - I’m afraid these three locations are going to reflect what we see pretty much everywhere in the world that has any level of population density.

You have to love the persistent optimism of the WHO and the CDC, but as far as I’m concerned, that “window of opportunity” slammed shut about the same day Hubei went on lockdown.

I’ve said it before.... You can’t stop it if you can’t see it coming!!!

I just received a delivery from Amazon. What did I do after opening it ? Sprayed the box and box cutter with Lysol, washed my hands, wiped down the counter with disinfection wipes.
This is nuts!

Procedure for opening Amazon delivery:

1. Blow airhorn to alert neighbors to immediately shelter indoors.

2. Don Hazmat suit, double glove.

3. As you spray Lysol, quickly open front door.

4. Blow airohorn again as final warning.

5. Approach box and assure no living creature, other than yourself, is within a 6 foot perimeter

6. Spray box with Lysol, then bleach. Wait 3 minutes.

7. Using a dull plastic disposable knife, carefully cut tape.

8. Open package lid away from you and using a hand mirror, peek into the contents.

9. If this is your order, pick up with barbeque tongs and spray with Lysol/bleach.

10. Wait 3 minutes.

11. Bring item indoors, LEAVE BOX ON PORCH and soak in the tub of bleach you have there for that purpose.

12. 2 quick toots on airhorn to alert neighbors coast is clear.

14. Take shot of fortifying imbibable liquid you have at hand for "internal sanitation:

Officials are bracing for a larger outbreak in Northern California. “There’s almost assuredly going to be a significant number of people testing positive,” said Dr. Peter L. Beilenson, the director of Sacramento County’s Department of Health Services.

The case has heightened concerns about the nation’s ability to test large numbers of people. Only the CDC performs the tests that confirm a novel coronavirus diagnosis, a process that often takes days.

The CDC had distributed diagnostic testing kits to state health departments, but they turned out to be flawed. Replacement kits have not yet been distributed.

Online grocer FreshDirect sees surge in orders, experiences delays

FreshDirect is seeing an increase in orders that the company thinks could be driven by coronavirus. The New York-based online grocer said that it is experiencing delays with deliveries because of the high volume. “We have experienced growth across the board, particularly in high-trust categories including fresh seafood, fresh chicken, baby food, baby and family health products as well as household cleaning and disinfectant items. Anecdotally, we believe the increase in demand may be related to COVID-19 (coronavirus) media reports and preparedness and as a result, customers are opting for online grocery shopping.”

Or, people could have the 'regular' flu or sick children and be unable to get out to shop.

Something else to think about (also in the early news releases) is that fever is the natural way to fight the virus. Taking fever reducing medication makes us feel better, but might also give the virus an advantage.

Yes, that is something Dr John Campbell has been saying a lot in his videos. He was very confused at a journal with an article about the treatment of one patient who'd been given large doses of tylenol/paracetamol and ibuprofen during his treatment, and saying that his training and knowledge is to let the fever run in order to help the immune system fight the virus. He said that 1) viruses don't like the body as much at fever temperatures, and 2) the immune system works better at fever temperatures.

David Abel from the cruise ship said that his doctors in Japan let the fever run its course in him.

I haven’t watched this yet but just want to say again that sorry but anyone who chooses to cruise right now (or travel to affected areas) needs to reallly think about the potential consequences which could include facing quarantine and/or hospitalization in a foreign country, lack of being repatriated in a timely manner, etc etc. If I comment further it will sound harsh so shutting my mouth before I say something offensive.

When hunting for supplies, don't forget your local office supply stores. I was in Office Depot today and they had plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies. In contrast, I had been in Target this morning and they were down to the bare bones as far as hand sanitizers go. I did see several people in Target loading their carts above the average amount with things like cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc. One lady had at least 10 bottles of Clorox cleaner in her cart along with several bottles of bleach! OTC medicines (like ibuprofen) were plentiful on the shelves, though. I'll be interested to see how things look by Monday.

What exactly is the test for this virus? Is bloodwork involved? Can't be done at Urgent Care or GP's office?

Current CDC test is a 4 hour incubated test done in lab only. With special equipment. Not a Dr. office. Is a naso-pharngeal swab.

Health care workers are asking for a test to use in Dr. office, hospital, clinic settings.

Some of us are not able to go out shopping right away. I have to wait until I get paid and then I can stock up. I really wonder if there will anything useful left to buy. The last time that I bought dog food I found it for a great price and really stocked up. That's all that really matters to me anyway. I sure hope that these people who are buying in vast quantities will save something for the rest of us but the shelves are nearly bare.
