It is this stuff that is going to be our downfall here in the US Im afraid. We just aren't ready. Scary. MOO

( @Hatfield , speaking of becoming “re-infected”...)
And......thee goes France.....France was the first country in Europe to confirm cases of coronavirus on January 24th - although French authorities say this is simply because of their rapid testing. A month later there are clusters. I hold with my prediction of clusters in Northern CA in the first 2 weeks of March.

Unfortunately, I predict that cluster as soon as test kits arrive and results are provided.

Oh great! My Amazon order has shipped from Vacaville...you know, the place where the woman got COVID-19 from a mystery person! I guess I’d better get out the air horn, hazmat suit, Lysol and tongs!:D:eek:
LOL oh noooo...!
Okay, upon first glance, I read "thongs", I probably should log off now...

During the CDC press conference this morning, one of the questions was along these lines why the US has tested so few. I didnt like their response and felt like they were brushing off the really good question. I actually quit watching it right at that moment because I felt we were getting lied to.

IMO, the answer should have been "You are right sir, we should have been testing many more suspected cases. Even if we found out they were not infected, it would have proven we did not have more cases, rather than just telling them to self isolate and hope they dont have it"

Is there any indication they've actually changed that terrible testing policy?

Ohio has the same problem, they've only tested about 200 people so far, in a state with a population of nearly 12 million people. Our governor's solution is to announce they will place containers of hand sanitizer in the lobby of all state buildings.

They are sharing tips, though, from Doomsday Preppers and banning cigarettes. o_O:confused::confused: Idjits.

LMAO! Mr. and I passed by a bottle of Courvoisier today, we both looked at each other, no words needed, we will be stocking up. MOO

Good stuff :) I mostly use it for cooking (gravy, sauces, etc.) but enjoy a snifter on occasion - for medicinal purposes ;)

That could be the downfall in terms of an epidemic.

When I looked on Amazon this morning I saw none either. There are none listed on our Walmart website. But my husband just picked up some bottles in the store. But you can apparently make your own with aloe vera gel and alcohol.
I just got back from the store and there were no gel sanitizers at all. I wasn't the only shopper staring at the empty shelf.

Fantastic idea! Smart!

That's the second country, South Korea does it also, now Scotland...why can we (the US) borrow from their apparently working kits? What the hell...

Where did the new coronavirus come from? Past outbreaks provide hints

Where did the new coronavirus come from? Past outbreaks provide hints

As scientists and public health officials around the world scramble to contain the deadly coronavirus outbreak, some researchers are also racing to solve the enduring mystery of where the newly identified virus came from.

The coronavirus, which first sickened people in China in December, is thought to have passed from animals to humans, like many similar pathogens, but nothing has been confirmed yet by any peer-reviewed scientific research, global public health agency or academic expert. Beyond that, little is known about its origin.

Although finding the source wouldn't necessarily help scientists develop vaccines or other direct treatments, it could provide crucial pieces of information on how it emerged and evolved. And scientists are using lessons learned from previous outbreaks to know how to approach this one.

And as the 40 page WHO China team report released today, the most important reason to find the animal is to ID source and ensure it doesn't happen again. They actually are doing tracing for where all the animals went after the market was shut down.

From the Oregon State government website. Lots of helpful info. Two people have been tested and results are pending, but it also says 2 are negative, so it’s confusing. It also lists the number under investigation with symptoms who may have been exposed (4, 2 cleared) and those without symptoms who may have been exposed (254, 178 cleared). No confirmed cases currently.
Also lots of FAQ, Resources for health care partners, and fact sheets.

I was thinking about that the other day when I wore disposable rubber gloves (Nitrite brand) to the grocery store. I mainly wore them because I never have liked touching the handle of the cart anyway, so figured I would give it a test run with gloves.

It went really well and only 2 or 3 people even noticed I had them on. But to your point, that is what I thought about when I got home to put the food away. I almost put on another pair of gloves but just touched everything germs and all. LOL

I think next time I will put another pair of gloves on to unload the groceries in the home and maybe I will go so far as to rinse off items under the sink.

Im not as big of a germaphobe like Howie Mandell, but Im close. :) And that was before this virus news even hit. LOL
I bought a box of gloves yesterday! I think they are much more important than face masks!

I agree. Gloves will keep the virus off hands and remind us to keep hands away from face.

Alright I just talked to my doctor’s office and put in a request for refills for 3-6 months on my prescription medicine (waiting on approval). This gives me some relief.
