In the US?
Yes, I live in Montana. I have NEVER seen as many bottles of hand sanitizer around town, for every one to help themselves to a pump or two.
In the US?
Wow! Scary stuff! I'm glad you went right in and are feeling better now!I brought mine with me to the hospital. 5 days of heavy antibiotics and my own private room while they figured out what was causing it. I caught mine early, very early. Middle of the night I knew something was wrong and had temp to prove it. Even though it was Friday night of Labor Day weekend I didn’t try to wait it out. Quick trip to small Local ER earned me a trip to the big hospital. Staph infection (not MRSA) but no idea what caused it. Fun times, fun times...told I had beginning stages of sepsis and if I would have waited I wouldn’t have survived. When I came in based on my vitals I had 10% chance of not surviving.
Heehehe! That looks like a regular trip to Costco around here!View attachment 235356 View attachment 235357 View attachment 235358

I agree! They are very difficult to breath in if applied correctly. That's the biggest problem for me.Having used an N-95 for wildfire smoke, I will say that it’s really hard for an amateur like me to get a tight fit. It also was very hard to breath through, for me anyway. I only wore it for a short walk of about a block to get where I needed to go. But for longer periods, I’d have trouble with it. I don’t have great lung power.

NOOOOOOOOOOO
Your comment is incorrect.

Yes. Look at the diagram. The threat of sepsis is at the site of the IV/PICC line insertion. As is generally the case.
Yeah, they are harder than you think to get a good seal around the face and use properly.
I had mentioned before that I have quite a bit of experience with them because I go through about 10 masks a year on average doing regular outdoor chores like spraying weed killer, weed wacking along the driveway, and an occasional wood working project where saw dust is flying. The cheaper paper ones have a metal band at the top and it was important to bend and form it as tight as possible where it would fit the top bridge of the nose. I think some of the more proper Virus protection models dont really have that metal band like that but its important to get a good seal around the face no matter what type of mask you have.
The other thing I had brought up that I found really important is something that people may find out about when it gets super hot outside in the summer. When I was doing really physical work like weed wacking with a mask, what I found happened was as I was sweating and breathing heavy, the moisture would build up on the inside of the mask and eventually it would clog the mask where I had to get a brand new one out because I couldnt breath through the mask. It would suck into itself as I tried to breath in because it was clogged with moisture on the inside. The only time that happened was on very hot days where I was doing physical activity.
Just found that interesting because I didnt expect it to get clogged like that.

I've read that the ones with the little square vent in front are easier. A valve opens as you breathe out, so your humid exhales don't just get absorbed by the mask. Then the vent automatically closes on the inhale to keep out pollutants. Maybe that kind would be easier, even just a little.Having used an N-95 for wildfire smoke, I will say that it’s really hard for an amateur like me to get a tight fit. Dollars to donuts, those items are being purchased for sale on the black market to the panicked.
So much of this outbreak is phychological and a lot of people feel like they want to do something to help protect themselves and their family members. From that aspect, I can understand some of the reactions.
Being that stress can lower immune system, if people are lowering their stress by taking small actions they can, then that is a good thing I suppose. At least they feel like they are accomplishing a defensive attack.
I do this too but I live in arid country. People in humid areas might experience them getting clogged with moisture faster than in the arid lands.I wear those masks all the time but reuse them like hell. I use them when cleaning because I’m allergic to animals and have a bunch. But even with an old mask it keeps out tons of allergens because I get allergies if I don’t wear it and none if I do.
I do a lot of wood work and landscaping and stuff and wear them for that as well. Sweating hasn’t made them unusable but when they get covered with dust I usually get a new one.
