My cough isn't Covid but people think it is. How can I stop it?

"I have had a chronic seasonal cough for more than ten years and it's having an increasing impact on my personal and social life. In the current situation with Covid, it makes things embarrassing. The only medication that relieved it was codeine, but it came back as soon as I stopped taking it. Please help – it's affecting my sleep"

I can relate to this person, I have a cough like that. Dust allergy, to even a speck, some food colourings.
Can start if I get too cold. I have to take antihistamines all year round, but not every day thankfully.

If I never went out when I have a cough, I'd have to stay home permanently. I try to be prepared and take antihisamines with me and an inhaler.

And try not to cough when I'm out.

I have cough variant asthma - When I was in my late 30's I developed this horrible cough. Part of my job in the insurance industry was meeting with physicians while investigating med. malp claims . I coughed so much these docs felt sorry or me. It took two years for the docs to finally diagnose me with asthma. I was on oral steroids for a couple years (intermittently) and then went on the inhaled steroids which I take now. In 2001 I started to have coughing spells again so I was switched to a different inhaler and thank goodness it worked. I will never forget that horrible rattling cough- it is awful. I have my Ventolin inhaler if I need it, which I sometimes do. I have allergies and take antihistamines too. Coughing can really ruin the quality of your life. Take care and be well.

Here, too! Finally got treated for asthma and doubled my antihistamines for a while. It was a problem before covid. But after - holy heck, had to deal with it.

That cough that rattles your whole body-- so dreadul- sometimes it is harder to diagnose cough variant asthma---- Are you still have problems?

This is horrible. Why would a nurse fill the syringe and not administer it? I don’t get it! And she isn’t charged?

If I understand the story correctly, word got around that the nurse would give "fake" shots for those who didn't want them but needed a vaccine verification card. She might have given real shots to some, but others sought her out specifically so they could get vaccine verification without getting the real shot.

Not if I stay on top of my meds

"A police officer who was placed on leave for missing the city of San Francisco’s deadline to be inoculated has died after being stricken by COVID-19, the San Francisco Chronicle reported."

California police officer dies after missing COVID vaccine deadline (usatoday.com)

Sad, but what can you do? Everyone has had ample time to get vaccinated and if they choose not to they run the risk of getting ill or even dying.

It’s like driving around with no seatbelt - you’re statistically unlikely to have an accident, but if you crash your chance of death is significantly higher.

I'm wondering if these "patients" paid her "under the table" for these non-shots....

AZ's third wave has been strange. The first two were high, narrow spikes. This one peaked on August 16 and then never receded. Case counts at end of August were the same as end of October, and now they are reported to be rising. This is the time of year when the weather is cool enough to do more outside, so that doesn't seem to be a factor. I haven't seen any changes - the same small percentage of people wearing masks, and a booming hospitality trade.

Our weather was also odd this year, with a record hot June and a lot of late summer rain, so everyone is sneezing and coughing in public saying "my allergies came late."

“It Just Hurts a Little Bit, and It Helps You”: New York City Kids on Getting Vaxxed

Are you happy that you got your shot?

Yes. And I just feel, like, O.K., now I’m waiting for the next one so I can go see my cousins on Christmas.

What happens now?

On the 29th, I have to get my second shot. My parents told me since I’m getting the shot I’m going to get like a hundred bucks from the city, so I’m excited.

That’s a lot of money.

In some terms, yes, but not really.

Germany debates imposing tighter rules as infections surge.
more at link
Germany’s state and federal politicians are scrambling to put new Covid rules in place as the country experiences record case numbers, and a top virologist has warned that the nation’s pandemic death toll could double if sufficient measures are not taken.

Nearly 40,000 new cases were registered in the country on Tuesday — the third time a daily record has been set within a week. And 236 people died of the disease in that 24-hour period.

“We have a real emergency situation,” Dr. Christian Drosten, the head of virology at Berlin’s Charité hospital, Germany’s most renowned research hospital, said on a podcast that aired on Tuesday.
