I checked Walmart.com and they are out of stock on the test kits. Then I checked CVS.com and they are out of stock on the BinaxNOW, Ellume and QuickVue tests, but they show availability on the FlowFlex COVID-19 Antigen Home Test kits for $9.99 each. I bought two of these kits a few weeks ago to have on hand if needed. I might pick up a few more.

Replying to myself--Walgreens and RiteAid are out of stock on the FlowFlex tests online. If you need tests, try ordering from CVS!

Uh-oh, I think CVS may be out of stock--just tried to buy some more of the tests but "we're sorry, there is an issue", please try again... :(

Regarding the rapid antigen tests discussion, I don't know if these are widely available in the US or UK but best to avoid the Genrui brand tests for now. They are being removed from stores in Ireland as they were throwing up a lot of false positives apparently. The tests are currently under investigation by the Health Products Regulatory Authority here.

Cnn is carrying the Djokovic story.
Who does he think he is?

And his father
"This is a fight for the libertarian world, this is not just a fight for Novak, but a fight for the whole world! If they don't let him go in half an hour, we will gather on the street. This is a fight for everyone."

Laughable, and so utterly tone deaf. No regard for the safety of society. Makes me sick this me me me selfishness and arrogance and the ongoing rants about "freedom".

Since the comments were made, there have been no reports of any gatherings in Belgrade or outside the Melbourne Airport.

To all my Down Under fellow posters:

I'm completely on your side.

We have that in the U.S. with some of our football players (American football, not soccer). They are big stars here...one is going to likely be the MVP. He lied about being vaccinated, got Covid, was unable to play one game due to isolating and is back as though nothing happened.
Another missed three games due to falsifying a vaccine card. His team let him play after that, but this weekend he stripped and walked off the field in the middle of a game, so hopefully he's gone for good.

I detest that athletes are given a pass, because they are idolized and their teams overlook these very serious infractions (or crimes) so they can win.

I bought a new oximeter and a new thermometer. They weren’t expensive.
A lot of my friends did the same.
I’ve used the oximeter frequently.
Put the older thermometer in the disaster/hurricane bag.
We did update parents medical POA and wills due to their age and health issues.

Early on in COVID it was recommended that everyone get a thermometer and oximeter. Then they both became in short supply as people rushed to purchase them.

It was interesting when everyone began talking about oximeters because prior to COVID few outside of healthcare were aware of oximeters.

I bought both in the spring of 2020 based on a recommendation here. I believe it has saved my daughter's life twice since then. Not because of Covid. Luckily none of us has had it. She is autistic and doesn't feel any pain from a UTI and does not know she is experiencing one. I got in the habit of taking her vitals daily and we caught two infections from noticing high heart rate, low oxygen, and fever. No other symptoms. She was septic both times in the ER, admitted, and spent two days in the hospital each time. The doctors kept saying she was so much sicker than she looked and acted. I'm very glad I had these tools in my toolkit, so to speak, and was using them regularly. I still take her vitals daily along with Mr. Etta and myself.

Our Meijer stores have many, many tests on the shelves. If you have Meijer stores in your area check it out.

Thank God for that and how attentive you are!

My dear friend, a gastroenterologist, insists that the most important measure is the oxygen level, and therefore everyone should have an oximeter.

When Covid began, fever was considered one of the most significant indicators so I ran out and bought a new thermometer. I didn’t pick up an oximeter because in my mind, this would last maybe a month or two.

Nearly two years later, I will buy one. Hopefully they’re still available.

I found the Flow-Flex tests on Amazon yesterday and order 4 packs, and the order went through, supposedly to be delivered Monday. We'll see.

I bought an oximeter in June 2020, also based on advice on this thread. Helped us decide I needed ER when we both had covid a year ago. It probably saved my life.

I’m so glad it saved your daughter. Many don’t realize that sepsis can develop from a UTI and can be fatal. I learned that 10 years ago when my MIL died. Now I tell everyone to get a UTI treated ASAP, especially if elderly. One UTI symptom many don’t recognize is sudden onset of cognitive impairment. Happened to my Mom. Based on your experience with your daughter, I will start using mine again daily. Can’t hurt, might help.

And yet Rhode Island who previously fired nurses for not being vaccinated is now short staffed, and has said they will allow nurses that have been tested positive for Covid, and are either asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic to continue working? Shades of New York nursing homes?

Australia cancels Djokovic visa after he was ‘held in room by police’

“Reasons allowed for those applying for a vaccination exemption can include acute major medical conditions, serious adverse reaction to a previous dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, or evidence of a Covid-19 infection within the previous six months.”

So it would have to be an acute major medical condition since he’s anti-vaccine and had Covid back in 2020 which isn’t within the six month parameter.

What on Earth Is Happening With Novak Djokovic?

“We also know that Novak Djokovic, again because largely of his own doing, had COVID-19 in 2020 on the heels of this superspreader event that he led. So I think we need to at least leave the door open that there is a valid reason here, but it does strain credulity that a 34-year-old who won 27 matches at majors and is ranked No. 1 has a debilitating ailment that prevents him from getting vaccinated and still makes him eligible to cross international borders.”

“And, and I mean, weve seen other players like, Tennys Sandgren is the most prominent example, who have said, basically, I’m opposed to vaccination, I’m not going to get it. And none of the criteria here fits what I would need to get the exemption. So I can’t play. And the big difference between Tennys Sandgren and Novak Djokovic, as far as we know, is that one of them has a lot more to play for, and the tournament has a lot more to get from them playing. And so of course, theres a possibility theres something going on here that we dont know. But it seems unlikely. Occams Razor would say there are a lot of other forces that are making the decisions here.”

Great. Seriously? People cannot go to nursing homes in "lockdown" to visit elderly relatives, but Covid positive nurses are "good to go to work"?

Have I fallen down into "Alice in Wonderland"? Where everything up is down?

PM Scott Morrison revealed the tennis star never had the exemption he claimed.

“I want to thank the Border Force officers for doing their job implementing the Government’s policies ... entry with a visa requires double vaccination, or a medical exemption,” he said. “I am advised that such an exemption was not in place, and as a result he is subject to the same rule as anyone else."

Of course not. It's a general policy being adopted in most healthcare facilities, so that they have more flexibility than just sending staff who test positive out the door, before they get replacements in.

Managers are not stupid, they won't assign them to work with the uninfected public or other staff, but they may assign an asymptomic nurse to work in the Covid unit, or, for that matter, for a dishwasher whose spouse tested positive, to finish their shift alone.
