I wonder if he will get into the US.

"Djokovic has been included on the entry list for the prestigious Indian Wells tournament in California next month — but will have trouble getting into the United States because foreign air flyers must provide proof of vaccination before boarding flights."

When it comes to the United States, I'm starting to think it's more about appearances than actual health planning.

We mandate that those flying into our nation be vaccinated, but we don't mandate that those crossing our southern border on foot be vaccinated.

There's no legitimate rhyme or reason behind our laws.

Tracking notice overnight says free tests due next Tuesday
Another this morning says being delivered today. “Better late than never ?”

Covid is over o_O here.
Might have helped even on small scales to have had these in nov/Dec/Jan when everyone had omicron. Testing was impossible.

Do you think it’s lack of testing? Our UK numbers have taken a dive but I do wonder whether people aren’t bothering to avoid isolation / disruption.

My son had it last week and my daughter has it this week. My husband and I are testing daily… fingers crossed!

Glad you’re getting your hair appointment!

where is this? I know in Lee county Florida docs are now performing elective surgeries again. this tells me cases are receding

Yep, one after the other with 5 days between, so we’re not out of the woods yet. Luckily they’re both fully vaccinated, as are we, so it’s been mild.

It does make me worry about us scrapping isolation soon (currently 5-10 days), it’s clearly very contagious and while it might be all well and good for younger folk, it’s not for older more vulnerable people.

As an older vulnerable person you can't be too careful!

But if you've got to die of something, it's better to do it with good hair ;)

Hello all. I hope everyone is staying well and those that have had or have COVID are recovering well. I've taken a small "all things COVID" break and hoping like crazy we have a better spring/summer coming up. Stay safe.

As BA.2 subvariant of Omicron rises, lab studies point to signs of severity

As BA.2 subvariant of Omicron rises, lab studies point to signs of severity - CNN

The BA.2 virus -- a subvariant of the Omicron coronavirus variant -- isn't just spreading faster than its distant cousin, it may also cause more severe disease and appears capable of thwarting some of the key weapons we have against Covid-19, new research suggests.

New lab experiments from Japan show that BA.2 may have features that make it as capable of causing serious illness as older variants of Covid-19, including Delta.

And like Omicron, it appears to largely escape the immunity created by vaccines. A booster shot restores protection, making illness after infection about 74% less likely.

BA.2 is also resistant to some treatments, including sotrovimab, the monoclonal antibody that's currently being used against Omicron.

Considering the positivity rate was 32%, it has improved in the past few weeks. :)

I think you’re in Lee County?
Lee County FL reported 98 deaths over the past two weeks and 24% test positivity rate.

Lee County, Florida Covid Case and Risk Tracker

I think we need to keep in mind the at home tests are probably keeping the % high, so maybe don't look at it. People that are testing negative at home are not going to go get another test at a reporting site. JMO

Actually, we should probably do away with the % positive category come to think of it. At home tests are not being counted.
