My former husband is the one who said he would rather starve then get the vaccine. He runs a company that designs/installs kitchens and is in and out of houses all the time. And... I think he knows how to sniff out the same kind of people to work for him.

He will wear a mask if customers ask for it...... but I have always wondered what he says if he is directly asked if he is vaccinated. My guess is that he lies, and that he is not alone....... I know or know of many who just lie... it shuts down the conversation right away.

I just refuse to answer. It just bothers me enormously, pandemic or not, the way people suddenly think its A-ok to ask personal questions of basic strangers. It gives me the heebie jeebies. JMO

I get it and agree! Mr Pirate was the one asking (should have been more clear in my original post) and I asked him to stop. :confused:The honesty in the answers was appreciated though. They were all so nice about it.

Medical providers don't even ask their patients this question, unless for surgery or other invasive treatment.

I noticed that my doctor(s) and other health care professionals will say at some point during the visit that vaccines for pneumonia, flu, and covid-19 are available if you want me to refer you to . . .

But they don't ask directly, that is the protocol. I appreciate the respectful approach they take.

DH and I were talking yesterday about why our test kits hadn't arrived yet. Not long after our conversation, there was this special report on WDIV. Like many of you, I ordered the government test kits the day before announcement was made public. It's possible that the post office did not want to deliver the test kits when we had a couple of weeks of below freezing temperatures. I will call post office today and ask what might be causing the delay in the delivery of the Covid test kits. Still waiting on the free at-home COVID tests you ordered from the government? So are many others (clickondetroit.com)
I ordered my housekeeper's the same day I ordered mine. My kits came in last week and her kits are coming tomorrow.

Before a doctor or hospital visit - you have to go online and answer several questions on their website or patient portal.

Vaccination status for flu is included in the numerous list of questions and another question is vaccination status for Covid.
You have to upload your insurance card (front and back views) also.

I’ve been asked to fill these out multiple times for various medical facilities in different states. Just did one yesterday.

I used to smoke when I drank but wouldn’t admit it to my parents but always fessed up to my doctor.

During the 3rd surge, I went to my Dr. for a yearly exam. I wore a mask and so did he. He told me he was vaccinated and wearing an N95 mask so I can comfortably remove my mask. I told him that I would not remove my mask and I was vaccinated. Two weeks later, he was diagnosed with Covid. Every patient had to be notified.

I guess we'll agree to disagree.

IMO, if someone is entering my home during a pandemic, which can still infect me, I have the right to know. My home is my refuge from the virus.

I'm not asking personal questions that don't pertain to my well-being. I don't want to know about their sex lives or if they have a happy marriage or how they did in school. I DO want assurance that they've taken whatever measures are necessary to keep me safe. People who work on remodeling, cleaning etc. are in multiple homes during the course of their days, anyone of whom may have transmitted an illness to them.

As far as I'm concerned, they should not only be fully vaccinated but should wear masks, for their own safety as well as the safety of their customers. This is one of the reasons Covid keeps boomeranging.

Why are testing kits taking so long to arrive in the US? Does your mail take ages to arrive too?

I got mine as well as my family members, but I’ve seen several posts on here where posters haven’t received theirs yet. Maybe we need a poll.
I get my mail regularly with no issues.

Oh good, glad yours turned up. Ours are usually next day delivery (and still £free for a box of seven, though this may change in coming weeks). I just think, if people don't have them to hand or can't get them quickly, they're not going to bother testing are they, then it'll just spread more.

Yes it does take ages, but -- in my case anyway -- the kit hasn't shipped yet.

Things must be different in different countries. No-one here seems to get offended when asked. The two unvaccinated staff just said "No!" when asked. It was obvious they didn't intend to vaccinate. They also seem to understand that there are customers who have their own health/age/young children considerations and are careful.

The staff wear masks. And if their vaxxed status gives the (requesting) customers a sense of safety and security, so be it.

I would be interested to hear how the retirement community handles Covid. Were residents wearing masks- was there indoor dining en masse? Did it seem like the pandemic was over as it seems like where I live?
No, this retirement community is the opposite of how yours is being run.;)

There are 125 residents in the complex. NONE of the senior citizens have caught the virus, during the pandemic.

They did have some staff members test positive though. So they strengthened protocol.

. Back in March of 2020, I was visiting Mom, and we were about to watch an NBA game, and the announcer came on to say BASKETBALL WAS SUSPENDED. So I said 'Mom, remember that virus we have been talking about? Looks like it is taking over right now.'

The very next morning there was a large note on the breakfast tray---ALL VISITORS MUST VACATE PREMISES BY MIDNIGHT...

And they shut down and locked down that veery day.
NO MORE GROUP DINING---ALL MEALS were delivered to rooms.

NO MORE GROUP ACTIVITIES---They cancelled exercise classes, movie nights, music shows, the hairdresser, the gym, the bar, the game room, the BUS that took people to do errands----EVERYTHING WAS CANCELLED

It was sad because they had an amazing array of extracurricular activities and amenities and everything was shut down for almost 2 years.
No visitors were allowed for over a year. Then 1 guest allowed with a rapid covid test taken at front desk, but only allowed for the day. No overnights.

last spring they reopened the group dining, the bar, and the Starbucks stand and errand van for awhile but when the virus spiked again in Reno, they closed it all down again.

Before my recent trip, I received an email saying that most everything would be reopened Feb 1st. But when I was there , the restaurant area was still closed because of staff shortages. The administrators explained that they have high standards for staff, wanting them all to be vaccinated and to ONLY work at this one senior centre. They don't want staff to be working at more than one senior centre because that increases chance of contamination. So they pay top dollar and expect that loyalty.

Right now, they only have enough staff to deliver the 3 meals a day and cannot have the restaurant service they used to offer. Although they do have a small Starbucks type of breakfast/lunch area that is popular.

Things seem to be slowly going back to normal. My Mom has a caretaker visiting every day for 3 hours and has a staff member each morning and each evening. But NOW she is able to have myself, or one of may brothers, come and visit for a week or 2 , every single month, like we used to do. :)

She has her own little 2 bedroom apartment, with a nice little kitchen and a balcony overlooking the large yard. She can watch the birds from the balcony and see her neighbours and wave hello, which was nice during the lockdown.

Of course, we can agree to disagree. :) As stated, it's my opinion. We are both entitled to our opinions (when stated as such) without issues.

Me too. I ordered mine the same day many ordered theirs ---together online here.

I got an immediate confirmation email. But haven't heard a peep since.

I don’t think it's so much the country. I'd wager to guess there are people in your country that have the same opinion as I do. You probably just haven't spoken to each Australian?

One size doesn't fit all.

This country also has a 94% double-vaxxed rate. And we show our vax status where required. Just pop open our phone, and show the health dept download of our vax status.

If there are those who object, I would say they would be a very, very small minority.
