Breaking news: DH and I got our 2nd booster shots this morning--Moderna, after 3 Pfizers. The Moderna booster is half the dose of the original series of two shots, but it's still a stronger dose than Pfizer. Feeling OK so far...

Dr. Fauci was wise to stay home.
I saw on the news that he didn't attend the dinner, but he attended the pre-dinner meet and greet with journalists. Lots of pictures of him without a mask with well-known journalists.

My DD has covid (she is a fully vaxxed nursing mother).
Baby's PCR test result isn't back yet, but she is assumed to have covid as she has a red throat and her nose is clogged with mucus.
DD's hubby's PCR is negative (so far).
The reason I am telling this is because of this bit of trivia.
The respiratory doctor (who gave baby her PCR test - they were advised to take baby to the respiratory clinic for her test and special attention) said that 70% of my DD's antibodies will be going to her breast milk for baby. And her body will be retaining about 30% of her antibodies for herself. Survival of the species.
Fortunately, that 30% seems to be enough as my DD had one really crappy head-cold kind of day and is now on the upswing. (Baby is a bit cranky, but playing and eating well.)

Good that you got the 2nd booster. I have to admit I am a tad anxious about that 2nd booster, though I will probably get it. I have had all Moderna and will continue with Moderna. Hopefully you will not have any severe type of side effects. Take care

Well, now the first of my family members has contracted Covid.
My 26-year old niece has been feeling very fatigued for a couple of days, and had a slight fever and miserable cold symptoms. Got tested and yup, Covid.
So, her mother is my identical twin sister. Everyone thinks I'm extreme when it comes to Covid precautions, but my sister is even more so. She still washes the food she buys, wears two masks if she has to go anywhere, tries not to touch anything, and Purells all day long.
But my niece moved back home, since she was working remotely, and she travels and goes out with her boyfriend or her friends quite a bit. The friends she was out with a few days ago didn't get it, so we don't know how she contracted it.
I know she will be okay but I'm plenty worried for my sister. She's a cancer survivor. My niece is isolating now but my niece has been around her parents a lot, prior to symptoms.
Ruining Mother's Day, for one thing.
I know some of my buddies here are letting go of some precautions, but I don't feel that I can. I do go to the supermarket now, which I didn't for the whole first year, but I would absolutely not go maskless. I don't see how that's any different than dining indoors maskless. Other people aren't wearing masks, and they're breathing, so I wear mine.
Thankfully it's getting warm enough in NYC to eat outdoors again.
ETA: my niece has had three Pfizer shots. I'm grateful she won't need to be hospitalized or worse, and I thank God for the vaccines.

Apparently he assessed the risk of one activity and decided it was less risky than the other activity he avoided. He has said each of us has to assess the risk. Let's face it, anytime you are around other people there is a risk of contracting Covid. I am thinking of masking up again at the grocery store. Haven't worn a mask for over a month but here in my county in Michigan the cases are ticking up considerably--- I would like to tell that doctor that told my husband that the pandemic is over- to take a long walk down a short pier- what an idiot--- Oh, and we have reached one million deaths in this country (noted on the nightly news tonight)- people are still contracting Covid, getting hospitalized and dying, but duh, the pandemic is over.

I'm sorry your niece has Covid, and I pray that your sister won't get sick.
I thank God for the vaccines too. They not only protect us from serious illness, hospitalization, and death if we get Covid, but they also protect us from Long Covid.

I got my second booster and it barely had any side effects (all four of my shots were Modernas). I just had a bit of arm pain and felt a little off the next day. My worse side effects were after my first booster. I had fever for two days after that one.

DH and I got our second booster (Moderna, after 3 Pfizers) yesterday. I have arm pain (not severe) and had a slight headache yesterday afternoon. No fever or other side effects.
DH doesn't even have arm pain. He has had no reactions to any of his four shots.

My sibling has covid for the second time. 12 months since the first infection. Unvaxxed and unmasked.

Update: Got hit with fatigue, another minor headache, and some muscle aches this afternoon. I'm kind of happy to be having symptoms, thinking of them as proof that I'm having a good response to the booster.
