I do quite a bit of work in the convention/trade show industry. 2 weeks ago maybe 3 I lost track of time, the largest trade show in Chicago was cancelled, 3 more followed. We are awaiting word after an afternoon meeting w trade/ business, govt leaders as to the future at our convention center. There isnt any part of me under any illusions about the seriousness of this. It really isnt about "catching" it as it's about the speed of spread. Once the hospitals become overrun w patients the situation will be like Italy is experiencing now. It's about the resources available.

My understanding was that BP and asthma dont make it more likely to get the virus, but more likely to make it worse if you do get it.

I'll see what doctor says. He cleared me to fly almost immediately after PE.

I'm scared, I didn't think it would hit the US at this scale. I trusted the CDC.

The new case from Lancaster County, according to officials, is a family member or a close friend of a previous case.

A Camden man is the new case from Kershaw County, officials said. He is currently hospitalized and in isolation.

The first positive case in South Carolina was announced Friday, March 6. These new cases make eight total in Kershaw County, two in Lancaster County, one in Charleston County and one in Spartanburg County.

So far, 87 people have been tested for coronavirus in South Carolina, according to DHEC’s website.

Officials said previously they have the ability to test up to 100 people a day, but it’s clear far fewer people than that are getting tested.

Question:
How many cases do you believe we actually have in the US?
I’m guessing 3 million! Yes, guessing. I’m basing my guesstimate on how many I know in my area are non tested-quarantined at home & monitored by the state.
So they are actual cases, just not tested. But, it stands to reason, if patient A had contact with 1,000 during her incubation/asymptomatic stage, then they had contact with a couple hundred each & now most are experiencing “cold like symptoms”, and advised to isolate/quarantine, is it not a given a large majority of them are novel C positive?

My husband asked me to pick up a small pocket sized bottle of sanitizer for him today. I just laughed. I haven't seen any in the stores for at least the last week. Thankfully I remembered I had a small bottle that he could take. He'll be smelling like berries, but what can I say.

As shocking and unprecedented as all this news is, all the closings, cancellations, etc, I see it as necessary and positive. A virus cannot survive on its own. It needs a living host - as in a human being. If the virus is not able to spread on to the next host, it will die out. The US and its cities, venues, events, churches, universities and schools are finally working together and at a pace to accomplish this and I'm happy about it. Sorry for businesses and workers who will be negatively affected (I'm one), but it will be a temporary stoppage.

At risk of sounding hokey, we can collectively kick this "bug's" behind. IMO

Gov. Ron DeSantis discusses coronavirus developments during Miami stop

DeSantis cautioned the public to increase social distancing and said he has recommended individuals, companies and organizations to limit mass gatherings.

The governor said he does not have the authority to order the cancellation of all mass gatherings, but said if events aren’t canceled, organized screening methods should be put in place.
