(Reuters) - Britain's biggest telecoms group BT (BT.L) said its chief executive, Philip Jansen, tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

"Having felt slightly unwell I decided as a precaution to be tested. As soon as the test results were known I isolated myself at home," Jansen said in a statement.

"I've met several industry partners this week so felt it was the responsible thing to do to alert them to this fact as soon as I could."

I have an annual physical exam scheduled for next week. Appointment was made some time ago before this current crisis. Should I cancel and reschedule? I really hate the idea of walking into the fairly large medical facility always full of patients in the waiting room.

If you are well and simply having a routine annual physical, it would probably be in your best interest to cancel and reschedule. I would not go anywhere my PCP's office during this crisis. It's a very busy practice, mostly geriatric patients, and there are always sick people in the waiting room. I've never been in the office as a "sick" patient and am only there for routine visits to monitor blood pressure, for lab work, etc. An annual physical can wait until COVID-19 is under control.

No! I think there can be no way to know. We know some have seen their doctor but sent home with the “keep your hands clean, rest, take Tylenol” advice.
When a retail person, for example, was around hundreds of people on a daily basis during incubation, we can assume she infected _____ (insert your number). So when these people present at the doctor (if they do) the doctor has a very good idea based on community contact & symptoms the patient is in fact positive. Moo
Ohio did state they likely have 100k, as earlier posted, but no other state has included untested persons in their totals, to my knowledge.

From earlier link:

top health official in Ohio estimated on Thursday that more than 100,000 people in the state have coronavirus, a shockingly high number that underscores the limited testing so far.

Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton said at a press conference alongside Gov. Mike DeWine (R) that given that the virus is spreading in the community in Ohio, she estimates at least 1 percent of the population in the state has the virus.

"We know now, just the fact of community spread, says that at least 1 percent, at the very least, 1 percent of our population is carrying this virus in Ohio today," Acton said. "We have 11.7 million people. So the math is over 100,000. So that just gives you a sense of how this virus spreads and is spreading quickly."

She added that the slow rollout of testing means the state does not have good verified numbers to know for sure.

"Our delay in being able to test has delayed our understanding of the spread of this," Acton said.

The Trump administration has come under intense criticism for the slow rollout of tests. Dr. Anthony Fauci, a top National Institutes of Health official, acknowledged earlier Thursday it is "a failing" that people cannot easily get tested for coronavirus in the United States.
Being an Ohioan I have so many mixed feelings and reactions. Do I have it? My husband? My kids? My grandkids? My sister? Have I been worrying for weeks about us getting it when we already have it?

Being followed by lots of journalists and asked publicly and privately to do media interviews.
The answer will always be no.
We work for trusts.

We only engage through the media and communication teams at those trusts.
Stop asking.

It hit a nursing home there, which is full of old sickly people. Most of the victims who died were in that nursing home.

My “Sit and Stay” program is on day 4.....kind of rough, but just as I am ready to run, one of the news sources tells me that I am smack dab in the middle of CV land.....so, the mortgage is due, and I will just have to drive past the blue mailbox and drop it in.
Decided I will clean a room a day....! Have to use all those Clorox wipes.....

WE ARE LIVING IT....

In global disaster movies, there’s always a scientist who’s like, WE HAVE TO ACT NOW OR PEOPLE WILL DIE and some government guy who’s like, YOU’RE BLOWING THIS OUT OF PROPORTION and I’m like, NO ONE WOULD REACT TO INFO LIKE THAT IN REAL LIFE.
My apologies to those movies.

There are lots of nursing homes in the United States. It will be interesting to see how this falls out. Especially in Florida.

Home of Disney World. Wonder what the plan is there...

Well, if they got infected, expect high mortality rate. I think that much is clear.

"Keep in mind that even though we are likely to see a large spike in cases with broader testing, it does not mean massive deaths. It means we will know where stand on the “curve,” whom to isolate, & will help us prevent further spread. Stay calm, but prepare for lifestyle changes."

Indeed, it would be horrific to incubate COVID at the Opera House.

I did not like the tenor of the Michigan Opera Theatre statement that there were no plans to cancel upcoming performances. The majority of opera patrons are older adults who are the most vulnerable in the wake of COVID-19. Just a few hours after I read the MOT statement, I learned that this weekend's performances of Dance Theatre of Harlem have been canceled. I guess MOT found out that Broadway was shutting down, so they did the right thing for their patrons.
