Australia - The 1st time since 1919 when it was cancelled because of the Spanish Flu. This is a major interest event in NSW.
The Sydney Royal Easter Show has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. More than 800,000 people were expected to attend the 12-day event, due to run from April 3 to 14.
The NSW Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall said he was devastated the show had been called off.
"It's truly heartbreaking for everyone involved and another bitter blow on top of a rough 12 months of drought and bushfires," Mr Marshall said in a statement.
"Farmers have been doing it hard, whether it be dealing with the impacts of drought, bushfires, or in many cases both. "The show is a rare opportunity for farmers to come together, celebrate all that is great about agriculture and share what they do with the city."
