'He's an inmate': Anguish mounts over virus-hit nursing home

I feel for these people but I am glad that the nursing home that my mother is in is on lockdown.

Drama. I am sure, that these people could check their parents out of the nursing home. It may be "AMA", Against Medical Advice, but they can get their parents and take them home to care for them, in quarantine. It would take a court order to block any family member from removing their parents from long term care at any facility, based on LTC patient rights.

This is flu. Not Ebola or Smallpox.

I posted earlier, some VA schools are busing kids to the school for a one hour lunch. Don't make sense.

Right? Just use the bus system to get bagged lunches to the kids at bus stops. Or something.

2-minute COVID-19 test results? Denver-area company wants to deliver that promise
The FDA would have to give a small pharmaceutical company emergency clearance before it can distribute the rapid COVID-19 test

“A small pharmaceutical company just south of Denver is making news after announcing it secured exclusive rights to distribute a COVID-19 test that takes only minutes to get results.

“It’s a 2 to 10 minute result," Josh Disbrow, CEO of Aytu BioScience, said. "It’s a very simple test that can be performed at the point of care, so in a doctor’s office. A small drop of blood is dropped onto a disposable device. It senses the COVID-19 antibody,

The test was developed in China and has been in use for the past six weeks, Disbrow said.

The company’s stock is up more than 200% after announcing the distribution rights, however Disbrow still needs to get emergency approval on the testing kits from the Food and Drug Administration.”

Did y’all watch this the other night?
Watch the full CNN coronavirus town hall - CNN
I was stunned at the advice to use laundry basket liners. Yes, washing will remove the virus from our clothes but it can linger in the basket.

How on earth do they know this? Maybe the kid gave it to him. Maybe they each picked it up elsewhere

They don’t know. And I don’t think they’re saying that they know but are just pointing out that he had contact with this child, right?

Coronavirus: Ontario reports 22 new COVID-19 cases, provincial total rises to 101
We, in the Great White North, are very fortunate to be among the last people to be hit with the virus. We have had time to prepare. We have publicly funded health care for everyone. In addition, we have local public health units and telehealth, available to all. We've had time to make sure that Employment Insurance is available, without a wait time to workers who have to stay home.

I was in the store yesterday and tp was on sale, 20% off. No one was hoarding supplies. Folks were wiping down their shopping carts before putting them away. I sensed an general awareness of the virus and social responsibility. The virus will sweep through, no doubt, but we haven't been caught off guard. We have much to be thankful for.

not sure what area of the country you live in but it's drastically different where I am in ON.

The Pentagon announced that members of the armed services, Defense Department civilian employees and their family members who are living on or serving at military properties can no longer travel domestically starting Monday Due to coronavirus, Pentagon halts domestic travel for military - CNNPolitics

STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES

From what my DOD civilian DH was told, the ban is for government funded travel only at this time. Active duty can travel on their own dime within a certain mile radius without requesting leave, which would be denied at this time. But DOD civilian employees and the family members of active duty can travel domestically on their own dime - at this time.

I haven't posted in forever, but..

So I am in quarantine. I am immunosuppressed and just got over pneumonia a couple weeks ago. A few days after that, I started coughing. It hasn't stopped. I've just been super tired in the evenings, but I haven't had a fever or anything until yesterday, when I got both fever and chills. My breathing is a little worse than usual, but nothing my inhaler can't handle.

After I got the fever, I did call my doctor and explain everything. I was told to quarantine for 14 days (let's be honest, it's likely going to be longer than that because I can't risk going out because of my health.) They gave me a number and said if my breathing gets worse, to call and schedule a test, but I likely won't be tested anyway because they are only testing people who have traveled or been in close contact with a confirmed case.

I highly doubt I have Covid anyway, we only have 2 (possibly 3) cases here on the Island, all of whom were diagnosed several days after my cough started, and I haven't left my house hardly, let alone traveled. Canada luckily has been one of the last places this thing has reached, so we weren't caught unawares, but they still aren't testing everyone they should. There are a lot of measures in place but we still have direct ferry routes multiple times a day from both Seattle and Vancouver, which are both hotbeds of the virus, not to mention an international airport. We're going to get hit, and hopefully the testing will be figured out soon.

Even with just those couple of confirmed cases, people here are going crazy. There is no toilet paper or paper towels or hand sanitizer to be found anywhere. I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to order groceries for delivery because the site kept going down (so lucky my husband woke up early at 530 and was able to grab the last slot for delivery tomorrow). There's a lot of panic. A good chunk of our economy is based on tourism, which normally starts up again right about now. No cruise ships (banned until 1 july), no gatherings over 250 people, mandatory 14 day quarantine for anyone who comes home after leaving the country (even to the US). The gov set up EI so people can get it with no wait period, but some people don't qualify. Also, a lot of small business owners around here who depend on the spring/ summer tourism season take out lines of credit to make it through the winter and then pay it off during the season, which they won't be able to now.

Anyways, if you've made it this far, this is just my personal experience here in my little corner of the world. Stay safe and wash your hands!

Colorado cuts off drive-up COVID-19 testing at Denver Coliseum at 200 cars
Health officials said a schedule and locations for testing next week will be posted on CPDHE's when it's available.

Updated:1:26 PM MDT March 14, 2020

“DENVER — The Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE) closed drive-up testing for the new coronavirus on Saturday morning at the Denver Coliseum after 200 cars.

CDPHE canceled drive-up testing in the Lowry neighborhood on Friday due to weather. About 160 people waited an average of 84 minutes for testing on day one, and the site tested another 500 people the next day but had to turn some away early after the line grew too long.”

you know that stack of fast food napkins you have in your glovebox? It’s about their time to shine!

Stay safe and thank you for sharing, @jjs !

I go shopping tomorrow and I'm scared. There are already news reports of hour-long lines and frequently emptied shelves. Hoping I can get what I need without too much time or fuss.

Asked if he's been briefed that up to 100M could ultimately be exposed, Trump: "I've been briefed on every contingency you could possibly imagine. Many contingencies. A lot of positive. Different numbers, all different numbers, very large numbers, and some small numbers too."

I’m self employed so if I don’t work I don’t get paid. I’m not sure what a LOA is. I have messaged my doctor to get a note stating I am high risk and should avoid courthouses (do court call rather than appear). But now she wants me to schedule an appointment to talk about the note. Which is concerning.

I was able to get a couple upcoming hearings for next week scheduled as court call hearings. But the problem is one is could become an evidentiary hearing (evidence presented) and if I’m not there I can’t examine any documents. Judge said I will not be able to get a continuance based on my inability to view documents presented.

However, I can still object based on hearsay and lack of foundation without seeing the docs (also, I have a good idea of what he’s going to try to present). And my client, who also has asthma and will be appearing telephonically with me, is in favor of court call as well despite the risk of not being able to see his documents.
BBM. Could someone go to court for you and communicate the evidence to you via Facetime or photo/email?
