Had a friend that got lucky at Walmart, ordered and picked up a couple disinfectants and handsoap refills and cottonelle wipes at the order online to pick up app. She was thrilled they still had some petfood items. Might try that . Best to you and your family and community. Be Well
Got lucky used to mean something else and not buying cottonelle wipes at Walmart.
LOL.

On Saturday afternoon the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced three people in Beaufort County are in isolation while under investigation as possible cases of coronavirus.

All three tested positive for the virus, a DHEC spokesperson said in an email. (confusing statements one sentence says as possible cases and the next sentence confirms positive results in an email. )

Two individuals had known exposure to a confirmed case from another state, said a news release. The other person recently traveled internationally and has no known connection to the other two people.
DHEC declined to release any identifying information, including age and place of residence, for the three cases.

How pathetic a confirmed positive refused to isolate & had to be forced into his home & now police must “watch” his house. I am appalled at such ignorance.

Member of press corps turned away after temperature check at White House

Quotes from article:

A reporter has been turned away from the White House briefing room after their temperature was determined to be too high. [BBM]

The incident occurred just before President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence took the podium to update the press on the government's coronavirus response. As of Saturday, the White House began testing everyone, including members of the press, who came in close contact with the president or vice president.

"Out of an abundance of caution, temperature checks are now being performed on any individuals who are in close contact with the President and Vice President," Judd Deere, a White House spokesman, said. The affected reporter has not been named.

According to a pool report, "a man in a suit with a no contact thermometer came through the White House press briefing room and workspaces" around 11:30 a.m. While his name was not immediately available, Deere said he was part of the White House physician's office. [BBM]

That's fascinating. It fits with what I see here in the north. There isn't a panic in these parts. People are very much aware of COVID-19, but they are not buying extra toilet paper.

“When people are stressed their reason is hampered, so they look at what other people are doing. If others are stockpiling it leads you to engage in the same behavior,” he said. “People see photos of empty shelves and regardless of whether it’s rational it sends a signal to them that it’s the thing to do.”

"According to Dimitrios Tsivrikos, lecturer in consumer and business psychology at University College London, toilet paper has become an “icon” of mass panic."

West Texas - All HEB Grocery stores in our area have changed their hours to open 8am - 8pm daily, in order to have time to try and restock the bare shelves. So far their trucks are still running daily......moo

Coronavirus: France to shut cafes, restaurants and cinemas from midnight
  • Health official announces the death toll from COVID-19 has risen by 12 over the last day in France to 91, with the total number of infected standing at 4,500
France on Saturday drastically stepped up its measures against the spread of the coronavirus, announcing the closure of all non-essential public places including restaurants and cafes from midnight (2300 GMT).

“I have decided on the closure until further notice from midnight of places that receive the public that are non-essential to the life of the country,” Prime Minister Edouard Philippe told reporters.

“This includes notably cafes, restaurants, cinemas and discos.”

Top health official Jerome Salomon meanwhile announced that the death toll from COVID-19 had risen by 12 over the last day in France to 91, with the total number of infected standing at 4,500.

Salomon added that France was from now at its highest sanitary alert level of stage three, which means that the virus is now circulating actively across French territory.

He added that the number of those infected had doubled over the last 72 hours.

Philippe said that the new measures were being adopted after the first measures announced in France to fight the virus were “imperfectly applied”.

May I ask to whom you are referring to? Thanks.

Yes, I'm thinking there will be a time (soon?) that supply will catch up with demand! I mean, once the TP is restocked, people will eventually decide they have enough, right?

I'm concerned I don't have enough, lol. (But not in a panic. I will figure it out if we run out. We're fine.)

I’m happy to report that my brother’s school (Catholic school teacher near Oakland CA), is finally closing. They will have two half days on Monday and Tuesday to figure out how to do remote teaching and then it’s shut for two weeks. I hope longer because after that there’s only a week before their spring break.

My brother has asthma like me. As a child it was life threatening. He was in the hospital for much of his early childhood. He’s better than me now. I didn’t have it until age 12.

But I worry.

My other brother has hypertension (I just remembered that) and is a social worker. They have not closed the county offices and were still having larger meetings there last week. His wife also works there.

Public school districts in my area have closed now.

I’ve been trying to avoid news to some degree because I haven’t been breathing well for days and I’m paranoid about it. Some of it is likely bad allergies and some might be stress or psychosomatic to a degree. I hope everyone is caring for their mental health right now.

You know this reminds me of a world war. Somewhat how people felt at that time with anxiety, uncertainty, life changing as they knew it, depression, death, constant updates news, learning about the globe and geography to track the “battle zones”, etc. Except we all have a common enemy.

The last thing I wanted to mention is seeing how people have decimated the shelves of food and worrying about people who can’t stockpile or shop like that or get around much and could be isolated, I hope everyone who is not at risk, feeling well, and doesn’t have a cough or anything, can reach out to a neighbor or someone they know who might be vulnerable to see how they’re coping and if they need anything. Even if it’s just a friendly word from the porch.

Stay safe ya’ll.
What a relief! Now we just have you to worry about. Stay safe and I hope they suspend court.

Oh, my Dad is going to love that (sarcasm). He’s such a social being - 83 years old and out and about nearly every day of the week. Still, whatever it takes to keep him safe. I’m sure you’ll feel the same about your own parents, @gregjrichards

My Dad has not taken the news of possibly being stuck at home 24/7 for four months well. He lives with me and our cat so thankfully he won’t be alone if it happens. I don’t know how older people who live alone with no family will cope.

I really hope your Dad will be ok.
