I haven’t heard much about Russia and Covid-19 so had a search.

Russia reported 11 new coronavirus cases on Friday, raising the total number in the country to 45.

Five of the cases were confirmed in the capital Moscow and three in Saint Petersburg, according to the country’s special coronavirus task force.

All new patients had recently visited countries that are dealing with a COVID-19 crisis, namely Italy, France, and Austria, the team said at a daily briefing.

Of Russia’s total 45 confirmed cases, 42 are Russian citizens, two are Chinese citizens, and one is an Italian national.

I purchased extra root veggies as they can be stored for awhile - and extra coffee because I'm an addict.

GPs 'concerned' about influx of calls over Covid-19
(Ireland)

The Health Service Executive has issued a statement saying that GP out of hours services, HSELive and emergency numbers 112 and 999 have been receiving a very high number of calls from people seeking access to testing for Covid-19.

The HSE said it was working to have "new electronic processes" in operation from Monday to deal with the increased demand in testing.

It said: "While GPs have had access for some time to testing through the National Ambulance Service, given the increased requirement for testing, the HSE is working to have new electronic processes operational from Monday, March 16 next to allow General Practitioners more easily order testing for patients where clinically indicated".

It said members of the public who have normal cold- and flu-like symptoms or who believe they may have been in contact with Covid-19 are being asked to self-isolate and to ring their GP on Monday, who will then be in a position to triage patients appropriately and order a test where needed.

The chair of the RNC, @GOPChairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel, came home sick from Mar-a-Lago, has tested negative for flu & strep and is awaiting #coronavirus test results. She has symptoms of #COVID19

STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES

There could be more positives from this party than 87 countries....just saying.
Seems Mar-a-Lago should be declared a hotspot. IMO

My Dad has not taken the news of possibly being stuck at home 24/7 for four months well. He lives with me and our cat so thankfully he won’t be alone if it happens. I don’t know how older people who live alone with no family will cope.

I really hope your Dad will be ok.
I’m happy your Dad is staying home. My in-laws are stubborn. My FIL was on a flight to Spain from Kennedy in NY on 3/10. They literally took him and his wife off the plane because Trump had just made his initial statement about the 30 day restriction from Europe. He was livid angry and thought everyone was being hysterical. He also thought he was going to spend 10 days in Spain and fly back to NY and stay at OUR HOUSE. Heck no! Thankfully he never went- he’s 67 btw and smokes cigarettes. He was so bitter about it that they decided to drive back to SC and not stop by. Which I’m glad, the airport and brief stay on the plane was enough for us to say he’s not welcome.

My MIL -65 yo- is out at a party for our cousin who is severely disabled. He lives in a 24 hour care facility but is allowed out for visits with family. The place hasn’t said they’re not allowing visitors but I worry that they’re still letting the residents out because they’re vulnerable. She too, my MIL said when my husband asked her why she’s out, “I’m not letting no virus control my life”. Ugh the ignorance.
And as a side note we always get digestive issues after eating at her house. She uses a wooden chop block and rinses it with water. Keeps a towel on her shoulder that is wiped with her meat hands and then used to wipe down the counter and table. So I worry about her awareness of how contamination works. She’s also got a compromised immune system from her medication. Sorry for the long post.

Good morning everyone. Playing catch-up here and still reading through the last thread. I did want to thank @justbeachy, who mentioned elderly people who live alone without a lot of contact. It made me think of a neighbour, so today I’m popping a note through her door offering to do an online grocery shop for her. She can put a list through my letterbox, I’ll place the order and it’ll be delivered to her home. Voila. No human contact needed.
As an introvert, I feel my whole life has been building towards this. ;)
Thank you so much for thinking of your neighbor! What a kind thing to do!!

Also, I purchased a lot of fresh produce not because it will store well, but that's what we are eating NOW, saving the "pandemic prep food" for later.

I think we may have some of the same kinfolks somehow........moo

Nearly 50 employees of Life Care Center of Kirkland, the Seattle-area nursing home that has been an epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., have tested positive for the virus, according to a report.

Washington state nursing home sees nearly 50 employees test positive for coronavirus

Has anyone here read that the "patient zero" has been identified?
Our old friend Ben the Irishman posted an 2nd Q&A video:

P.S.: his lady friend in Wuhan is doing good. She stayed behind and did not leave China because she did not want to leave her cats.

P.S.S. She is better off there than here quite frankly. MOO

Thank you so very much for sharing! I've been wondering about our dear Ben as we followed him (all of us single gals at least lol) from the beginning. He really brought me in. He was the first one we followed even before he left Wuhan, showing us how he wore goggles (as many viruses can do any mucus/eyes) etc and went out shopping with his gal friend....

He showed us the empty streets, how shopping was, how he used goggles to go out, what was in the stores, etc etc. Until the last I saw of him when him mom picked him up and they did their last media on the channel we were following.

Thanks again Jersey Girl for posting such.

In addition, jury summonses have been suspended effective March 16 by emergency order of Presiding Judge Jim Rogers.

Oh, my Dad is going to love that (sarcasm). He’s such a social being - 83 years old and out and about nearly every day of the week. Still, whatever it takes to keep him safe. I’m sure you’ll feel the same about your own parents, @gregjrichards

My parents are exactly the same way at 87. Their social life is way more robust than mine. He is going to go nuts. Mom plays bridge 3 times per week and my Dad still even “works.” I just hope they will stay home. They are still in such good health for their ages and I want them to be around for the next decade if possible.
