I love your posts @margarita25! As always, thanks for bringing humor to all the difficult topics! :)

You betcha. Really this is the way I deal with everything. Humor.
Newborn baby in London who became the world's youngest coronavirus victim after his mother fell ill is 'out of danger and recovering'

Yay glad the baby is out of danger and recovering. Thank you :) :)

Now Greg honey. I really want you to be well rested, okay? I hope you are taking long breaks. I am (in case anyone noticed lol).

Seriously. I’m demanding mandatory 4 hour naps.

Siesta is now in order.

Seriously: I can not even tell you guys how much better I feel after sleeping.

She is that. And I want to keep her around as long as possible.

I have a feeling from our discussions about this virus that she will not self quarantine. She likes her independence too much.

Between the way she has been taking precautions and her view on the severity of this virus she will probably do as she wishes.

When I'm at work I have zero control/input on what she does so either I quite my job and stay at home with her or keep working and see what happens.

My mom is similar. I hate not being able to protect my loved ones.

Yes! And I regret it. I went thinking it hadn’t spread too far and seeing no one but two workers in it but a third came when I was in the chair and coughed hard in my direction a few feet from me. I’ve been super worried ever since. That was Monday.

I’ve gone on Nextdoor and looked around today and people are offering services in house. Maybe if you ask on there you can find a (non-symptomatic) stylist who would be willing to wear a mask and come to your house. Or schedule appointments with no one else there.

Is it time to start wearing a wig to avoid hair salons? Just a thought I had the other day.

Then, I decided I can get away with wearing my hair in a longer style and trimming it myself for the next few months.

After all, even Judge Judy is growing a ponytail these days.

Australia orders all arrivals to self-isolate

Australia will impose 14-day self-isolation on international travellers arriving from midnight tonight and ban cruise ships from foreign ports for 30 days.

The moves mirror restrictions in nearby New Zealand, which are aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced the new measures after a meeting with a newly formed national cabinet, dubbed the coronavirus 'war cabinet'.
Bravo, I commend them. I wish Hawaii was doing that, or better yet, turning those planes around and sending them back. Let any state residents off to be quarantined, and send the rest back.

Am I inferring correctly, that they are holding this man in quarantine in his own home against his will?
He acknowledges he is positive but has an issue with isolation, he has “places to go.”

Matt Hancock confirms the elderly WILL soon be told to stay at home for four months to survive coronavirus as the Health Secretary admits the NHS does not have enough ventilators and blasts 'irresponsible' panic-buyers

Matt Hancock today confirmed the government will tell the elderly to stay at home for up to four months as he admitted the NHS does not currently have enough ventilators for the fight against coronavirus.

Coronavirus: Matt Hancock confirms the elderly WILL be told to stay home for four months | Daily Mail Online

See, this scares me more than anything else. You (general you, not you-you, lol) cannot police something like that. There are many fiercely independent elderly people and there are many elderly people who are sadly utterly and completely alone, the only contact they have being the chat in the bus queue or the shops. How can you ask them to go nowhere, see nobody - the isolation will be a form of emotional torture. Ugh, my empathy is kicking in. This is horrible.

On an utterly shallow and self-absorbed note, has anyone any thoughts on things like going to the hairdressers? Asking, as I have an appointment this week and as I currently look like one of those doggies with eyes covered by floof, I am considering wearing a mask and keeping the appointment. Or not. Hmm.

I’m not doing any appointments. Moo.

It sucks. I’ve been agonizing over this for weeks lol.

I sure am going to miss my perfectly waxed eyebrows....

My hair is growing out and if it needs cutting I’m cutting it myself.

MyBelle, are you from Nebraska? I’m wondering if I saw the same local press conference you did or if the local lady I saw here in Nebraska was saying 10 minutes of being near someone too. It’s encouraging to me if it really does take 10 minutes!
There would still be other contact methods, it can linger on surfaces, for one, and the feces/oral transmission, also inhaling droplets from a rogue sneeze or cough would not require ten minutes, imo.

Yep. What do you think should be done with him?
Very true....the COVID Testing Project has found data that we have tested only 20,000 or so in the whole country. Definitely not a representative sample.

SAME. It's 4:11am here and I have to be up for work at 8. I am WIRED. My mom was diagnosed with cancer this week and the surgery to remove half of her lung is scheduled for next week. She is about to be 76 and I'm just... weirdly disassociating yet completely anxiety ridden. Hugs to you and your mom.

Thank you so much. I’m so sorry your Mum was diagnosed with cancer. I will be praying for her and I really hope her health situation improves. You will be under tremendous stress. Best wishes to you both.

I am so glad your Mum is doing well now @RANCH

Thank you so much @gitana1 and everyone for your good wishes for my Mum and I you are all so kind. I really appreciate it.

I am so sorry about the tragic loss of your friend @margarita25

Oh oh here comes Twitter on crack!

Good because we’re just gabbing away at 3am. Busiest “night” I’ve ever seen.

ETA:

Morning Henry.

Whatcha got for us?

(Not that I really want to know)

—-

ETA2:

I thought about that too. How I could decide not to know anything that happens from here on out. Turn off all news devices.

Kind of like that senior couple did when one tested positive.

But then I would miss you guys.

Plus I’m faaaar too curious.

It’s going to be hard watching this stuff go down, I know.

Elbow bumps to the thread, and many thanks to you all for the great conversations.

Tonight, the digital "Amber Alert" signs on the 15N all say:

"Covid 19
LEss is more
Avoid gatherings"

Yeah. It was a shock. My friends won't leave their houses. My stores have empty shelves. No flour. No cat food. No milk or water or paper anything. I heard all of the casinos in LA are closing!

I'm scared, more of the changes that are coming than the virus. Big changes. My fat and lovely life, with everything I want and need instantly available, free to travel where I choose, and when, trusting my safety in the world ...all hanging by the thinnest thread of...well.

You know.
I think it really hit me.
Neon words on a freeway at 65 mph, x 5:
Less is more. Avoid gatherings. Covid19.
Yikes.
