Did anyone hear the suggestion Prez Trump get a weekly test? I think I heard a doctor talking about the number of tests some will need. Moo
Sounds reasonable, as the test result is only for the day one gets tested. Like Dr. Birx said yesterday, you can get a negative test result but nothing to keep you from getting the virus that night. Moo
Will some ultimately need daily or every other day testing?
Why.

Breaking: they're throwing the parties now. What do you think thousands of HS and college kids kicked out of school are going to do for the next three months with nowhere to go and nothing to do. Mine are telling me what they and their friends are doing.

In my neighborhood they’re either playing alone at the park or in small groups. I saw a teen couple at the park and one was wearing a mask. This was a few days ago

How would we know. I’m missing a couple who used to post regularly and have just stopped. @Steelslady for one. How to be sensitive and not intrude on privacy yet also show concern. .
I'm very worried about @Steelslady as well. I wish she would check in.

I looked at the number of identified cases in the UK, Norway and Sweden here, Coronavirus Update (Live): 169,200 Cases and 6,492 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer , and I wonder a bit about why the UK have many more deaths (35) than Sweden and Norway (3 each), as the number of diagnosed cases in the UK is not that much higher than in the Scandinavian countries. Are there more non-diagnosed cases in the UK, or have people in the UK more underlying health problems, or are there other reasons? (As the virus attacks the lungs, is there more pollutants in the air people breath in the UK, compared to Scandinavia?)

In my opinion, a lot of West Virginia folks don’t travel a lot. And most areas are pretty rural! Other than the influx of fleeing tourists from other states, I can understand there being less being brought in by locals. That said, a lot of WV people on my social media feeds are minimizing and still think it’s like the flu. Last I looked WV has tested I think 36 people total? As of last week the health departments were told not to test people unless they’ve been to China or Italy or such. I think if/ when they start testing more there will be some cases. From my understanding of the respiratory distress onset, I’m imagining the addicts will be so sick they won’t care about being tested, or they will be too neglected by the company they keep to be taken in to the hospital.
WV has high obesity too so I’d assume diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems. There aren’t many large research hospitals. Fortunately many WV folks are very kind, generous, and can live a lot off the land with hunting fishing foraging etc. There’s still toilet paper in some small town stores, people know their neighbors and look out for one another, generally speaking.
Sorry for the long ramble but wanted to share the perspective of someone who loves the mountain state!

I didn’t even think about the coal miners!!! Omg it’s gonna be really bad if it’s unleashed uncontained across WV!!! And an hour drive to the hospital....
stay home everyone!!!

BBM...I have a different perspective. A few years ago I lived and worked in Maryland for a large company and I had coworkers who commuted from VA, PA, and MANY from WV every day.
As far as I know that office is open this week with the exception for those that can work from home. Sadly, it's only a matter of time for West Virginia.

It's very calm here in Northern Germany. My best friend is an intesive care nurse and they don't have any Corona patients in hospital here yet.

Nr. 1 topic here at the moment is Trump trying to buy CureVac to get a vaccine exclusively for the USA, everyone is disgusted by this move but not surprised.

If Germany is such a socialist hellhole why does the great America need to poach our researchers?
Who said Germany is a hellhole? Maybe I missed it. And America is poaching your researchers?

Nike, Urban Outfitters and other retailers shuttering stores because of coronavirus - CNN

Nike, Urban Outfitters, Abercrombie & Fitch and more have announced that they are shuttering many or all of their retail stores around the globe through late March because of coronavirus. They followed makeup brand Glossier and outdoor brand Patagonia, which on Thursday and Friday were among the first consumer goods retailers to announce temporary store closures.

The companies all stressed that their online stores would remain open.

I agree he is only the messenger, but why target restaurants and pubs, or in fact any service industry? This is what makes me leary of his message? Why not shutdown all business, why just shut down certain business. Is he anti restaurants and pubs. Have there been reported cases of coronavirus in these places. I ventured our in my community today, after staying home for a few days. I can tell you, communities and their friendly businesses are helpful for the mental state. I can read this forum for only so long, and read the recommendations of so called leaders before I rebel. There is a life, to be lived responsibly, outside. Peace

MOO

I think it is a terrible idea. Those of us who are considered high-risk have a responsibility to ourselves to stay away from potential exposure and we're doing so.

Tens of thousands of lower income Americans including college students work in the service industry who will be adversely impacted financially.

Anyone that receives a negative test can still be infected, even the same day, after testing. I could get tested today (with negative results tomorrow) but I could stop at Starbucks on my way home & get infected by community contact.
Trump is in a lot of crowds, he’s only negative up to the time he was tested.
Like @zecats said, think of it as a pregnant test of sorts. You might test negative but what you gonna do tonight.

Nothing like that here. They're going about their business the way they usually do. Except now they don't have to study or get up in the morning. Their sports are cancelled. Can't imagine what it's going to be like after several months of that.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker said he has no plans to institute a statewide shelter-in-place for two weeks, a rumor that has been percolating as the U.S. grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.

Baker said during an appearance on WCVB’s “On The Record” that the notion he is planning on announcing a quarantine for 14 days is a rumor.

Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker said he has ‘no plans’ to have two-week statewide quarantine while addressing COVID-19 rumors

and I can’t find the right link :confused:but I believe one of the newer cases is a Hospital employee in Boston
Coronavirus cases in Massachusetts now at 164

The state reports the total number of infections is up to 164 as of Sunday afternoon. That’s up from a total of 138 reported on Saturday. The department has been releasing daily reports around 4 p.m.
