March 15, 2020 5:44PM EDT
Ontario has confirmed 42 new cases of COVID-19, the biggest single-day jump since it started tracking the numbers.

The new cases push the total number in the province to 145, which includes five recoveries.

The jump comes after officials confirmed 24 new cases in the province on Saturday and 19 on Friday.

Lol I think we have covered isolation & resources quite well.

Just thinking that it might make sense to have a separate forum specifically for those conversations.
Just a thought.

Please don’t wish for that.

But...I haven’t trusted him since day one. Something doesn’t feel right. Bad virus and all. But shutting down things? For how long? We have had infectious diseases since the beginning of time. And this feels wrong somehow. Not saying it isn’t serious.

But how many die of flu?

CDC said on Thursday that 20,000 people in the US alone have died of flu since January 1 of this year. Compare that to 5,000 worldwide from CV.

I don’t understand how people who are minimizing this are not paying attention to Italy. It’s not the number, it is how quickly it spreads and how it overwhelms the healthcare system. It is about flattening the curve so the our healthcare system is not completely overwhelmed to the point where people cannot receive treatment. Also there is a vaccine for other flus. While not completely effective, they can reduce the severity. There is no immunity to this virus. IMO

there was some talk a few days a go about a temp forum section on here for corona virus but not sure what became of it, you'd have to ask @Tricia

it was breifly talked about on the live show but they may have decided it was far too much work to go with

Speculation, imo.
It would not surprise me if in the next 48 hours they will enforce self quarantine in the US, perhaps especially California.

Why so angry? Restaurants and bars are places where people congregate. People handle menus, which are then handed out to other customers without being cleaned. People touch their faces, lick their fingers, share food and utensils, etc. etc. Of course the virus is going to be spread in restaurants and bars. Italy shut down everything except food stores and pharmacies. But they did it late, when hospitals were already overwhelmed.
I’ll be interested to see if there is a spike in cases of younger people in Chicago and other cities that allowed bar crawls yesterday. Of course what has happened at O’hare will overshadow that by far.

Simple example
Server pick up your water glass to refill (patron is infected)

Server then touches the next persons glass to refill

Person then picks it up and drinks from it.

Person then picks up their bread with a contaminated hand and eats it.

read this wow Wilkins has shown no symptoms but has tested postive

Richard Wilkins: ‘It could be anyone, anywhere’

Wilkins also passed on some news that he said “will blow you away”: Wilson’s band leader and guitarist, who performed onstage with her during both her Australian shows, is now back in the United States – and cannot get tested.

“He can’t get tested until he shows symptoms over there. And his wife works in a hospital. When you can’t get tested and you have been working for someone who tested positive, it’s a terrifying thought.”

There are fears that Olivia Newton-John has contracted the virus from him as he met her a few days ago. As you probably know Olivia is battling stage 4 breast cancer so she is high risk.

Agree, and there are quite a lot of “young” people like Tom Brady who are posting about chilling out and just washing your hands. IMO, it’s damaging to have high-influencers such as himself essentially giving out medical advice (when not a doctor) to thousands and thousands of followers. I am certain there are many people who will listen to the likes of Tom Brady, and yet have absolutely no idea who Dr Fauci even is.

Don’t get me wrong- I love Tom Brady! And I hate to single him out. But he’s a good example right now of people who are encouraging the “relax, just wash your hands” mentality and it’s causing a lot of confusion. IMO.

WHAT.

Please post Tom Brady links.

Remember, athletes have so many fans and the power to inspire the masses. If they are disrespecting their gifts re: to their social powers and ability to positively influence...

Please post a link re: TB before I GO OFF. Thanks, MJP.

Richard Wilkins meets everyone being an entertainment reporter so yeah its quite scary and i hope Olivia doesn't have it, she is a national treasure

Why do you think they haven’t? You think “street people” are getting tested?

I saw one homeless guy coughing hard in front of the entrance to the Tustin library last week as people filed past. I saw a homeless lady last night coughing on the corner across the street. I had to run to avoid her as she started crossing the street toward me.

This is going to spread like wildfire among the homeless.

Everyone seems to want to cough on you!

Only teasing, you and I are a lot alike in how we notice the coughers we've come in contact with lately. Oh yes, I remember before Christmas that lady in line coughed on me and I got sick. My ears are cough detectors in stores, and I scurry to another aisle away from them.

I don’t totally disagree, but so far, the only numbers reported that match the expected increase have come from Italy. My only point is that people can’t look at the reported numbers alone. Things are not being shut down on a whim - and things will get worse if social distancing isn’t taken seriously.

Don’t focus on 6,500 deaths - it’s a drop in the bucket out of 7.8 billion people. Those numbers are misleading whether accurate or not.

Heck I’m confused! Do you think the numbers support shutdowns or do you think something else is happening?

Stay well, thinking of PEI, lots of my relatives there.
Thank you! I'm planning on staying inside for as long as I possibly can. We're stocked up decently on things that we normally use, and I had the foresight to buy all kinds of things to entertain the kiddo. I hope your relatives are all doing ok, and you, too, of course!

Lol! I ALWAYS notice the coughers and sneezers. I’m hyper vigilant as a cold can make me super sick.
