I left my computer for about an hour and am now several pages behind. I assembled the lamb, vegetable, and gravy part of Shepherd's Pie and will refrigerate overnight. I'll cook and mash potatoes tomorrow, spread them on top the meat mixture, top with Irish cheddar cheese, and dot with butter so it browns nicely

The World Health Organization is considering “airborne precautions” for medical staff after a new study showed the coronavirus can survive in the air in some settings.

“As you know this is a virus that’s transmitted through droplets, so these are little pieces of liquid,” Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, head of WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit, told reporters during a virtual press conference on Monday. “When you do an aerosol-generating procedure like in a medical care facility, you have the possibility to what we call aerosolize these particles, which means they can stay in the air a little bit longer.”

She added: “it’s very important that healthcare workers take additional precautions when they’re working on patients and doing those procedures.”

World health officials say the respiratory disease spreads through human-to-human contact, droplets carried through sneezing and coughing and germs left on inanimate objects.

Kerkhove said health officials are aware of several studies in a number of countries looking at the different environmental conditions that COVID-19 can persist. “Looking at maybe different humidity or different temperature, UV light and that have looked at different surfaces, such as steel,” she said.

Health officials use the information to make sure WHO’s guidance is appropriate, and “so far, ... we are confident that the guidance that we have is appropriate,” she added.

It's ALL been shutdown. My daughter's boyfriend works in that industry and he has been told, by his Union, that all production is being shutdown immediately.

Last I can remember, San Diego County had 9 cases, or maybe 12.... now it is 39

"... Thirty-nine patients in total have tested positive for the virus in San Diego since February 14, health officials said Sunday evening. Thirty-three of those patients were residents of San Diego County, four were in federal quarantine and two were not San Diego County residents.

New York is now at the top of the list with 954 confirmed cases, followed by Washington state with 769.

ETA: Ahhh, it's only a little before 10am on the west coast, no updates from Washington yet for today.

2009 H1N1 Pandemic
From April 12, 2009 to April 10, 2010, CDC estimated there were 60.8 million cases (range: 43.3-89.3 million), 274,304 hospitalizations (range: 195,086-402,719), and 12,469 deaths (range: 8868-18,306) in the United States due to the (H1N1)pdm09 virus.

So this tells me that the testing was lacking back in 2009 as well. There has been 11 years to get exact data on the number of cases and the number of deaths, but it's not available.

Baking and dropping off goodies for the kids and grandkids. We are doing this by driving in the car and leaving the goods on the front porch. No touching of anything. Not even a railing or doorbell.

One of our younger folk came into work. I was stunned when she claimed a pandemic was predicted in so and so's book. You know those people we are not suppose to talk about here. She then stated this certain female says it will be gone by spring when the warm weather comes. I told her you are the people I worry about. You are educated! Educate yourself on this virus!!!! I'm still stunned.

Many are losing their jobs due to the #CoronavirusPandemic. Our healthcare system will soon be overwhelmed. Younger people are at low risk for serious #COVID19 illness and can help care for our most vulnerable.

We need a #Coronavirus New Deal to hire and train workers NOW.
