Good night WS friends.....sort of a strange day.....day 9 of my isolate program. Son had to close his shop in Arizona....daughter went on work at home program....good friend had dental emergency and I was the requested driver.
The numbers are going up in LOUISIANA.
Thinking of all of you.....big hugs, Lato
I’m from Cajun country where we great with a hug and/a kiss and have large family gatherings. We’re good a hurricane preparedness and helping our neighbors. Social distancing is foreign to us, but we’re survivors.

Well I wouldn’t, and the people in my community don’t. We all just go out and walk and we may wave across the road and say hello from a distance. I suppose there’s always those who won’t abide by the rules.

it's easy to forget and get too close
I've done it several times with neighbours

People sneeze, it goes on the sidewalk, other people pick it up on their shoes, go home, get sick? Is that why countries have people in hazmat suits spraying the sidewalk?
I had not thought to share this idea but
I have been spraying my shoes with rubbing alcohol when I get home and leaving them on the porch.

Chinese tycoon vanishes after calling Xi a 'clown,' slamming government's handling of COVID-19
“An outspoken tycoon who blasted Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Communist Party for their abysmal handling of the coronavirus has gone missing, his friends say.

Ren Zhiqiang, a retired real estate executive, has never been shy about sharing his feelings toward people in power. In fact, last month he called Xi, one of China's most powerful leaders in modern history, a "clown" and slammed the government's efforts to contain COVID-19.”

•I wonder if he may have suffered the same fate as Chen Q and Fang Bin, whatever that fate may be.

Well I wouldn’t, and the people in my community don’t. We all just go out and walk and we may wave across the road and say hello from a distance. I suppose there’s always those who won’t abide by the rules.

I think in cities where people walk a lot or use public transit a lot it becomes a problem I guess. I mean rural and more suburban people it’s not so bad.

But walking my dog the other day two older neighbors insisted I cross the street with them and talk with another neighbor. “Oh come on. Let’s walk over and take to one another. This is silly.” Because I was standing 10 feet from them on one side of the street and we were talking to the neighbor standing across the street.

I used my dog as an excuse. She doesn’t like strangers much. Especially men.

But it just goes to show that we can’t count on people to use common sense. Not everyone. I mean we’ve had to fight to get people to accept the seriousness of this plague. Fight for months. And admittedly I was one at the beginning who felt the major impact would be economic due to a domino effect from what was going on in China. I felt our nation had a great system in place to respond to this crisis. Like they did with Ebola. Admittedly, Ebola isn’t as contagious but our system worked fast to shut that down quickly.

But I kept reading and you all educated me.

Coronavirus: Mexico may consider border-crossing limits

Evidently, Mexico wants to ensure that people who cross the border, from the United States, into Mexico, are legally admitted and inspected prior to entering Mexico.

Mexico would like to ensure border integrity and security. This is a commendable response, as they want to protect their citizens. I hope that Mexico is able to keep the virus out of their country.

Not, a political post I hope, as this has nothing to do with ANY particular party.
Mods. Please remove, if not allowed what I want to say here about the USA.

Personally, I am dumbfounded, that a first world country only has 924,000.00 hospital beds, for a country of over 363,000. Million people.
Yes, I am amazed to hear that so much of our medicenes depend on China.
Only because of this Pandemic, have I learned about this.
My husband had Major heart surgery a year ago to this month.
The hospital, the doctors, the nurses were beyond fantastic.
They saved his life.
Everyone at this hospital was trained, caring, kind, and had the equipment to save his 71 year old body.
No crowds. No busy areas, everything clean.
Plenty of parking.
Honestly, it was a dream, amazing.
We are in So. California.
He was on Medicare (for over 65 years old) with a supplement insurance policy from Blue Cross.
Even after 7 hours of surgery, 5 days in the hospital and 6 weeks of home care with nurses coming once or twice a day. Our total bill, was -0-.
ZERO.
A true godsend as he could not work.
I will be forever grateful that the man I Love with my whole heart is still next to me one year later.

It's ridiculous for each city, county, state to make different decisions about how to conduct/control the spread of this virus. This should be a federal decision.

Residents of the Bay Area, for example, could easily skirt the stay in place request and go elsewhere for a couple of weeks. We need a federal mandate to STAY IN PLACE or else.

Federal gov't makes big picture decisions, like groups of no more than 10 people together. States should listen to that information and make decisions based on it, like close schools, cancelling events, etc. Cities should implement the information the best way they can. That might take time, in terms of giving people a couple of days to adjust, but they can't take too much time or their health systems will be overwhelmed. Restaurants can put 6 feet between tables or close.

Not sure how old your grandson is but 103 is a high temp. I would call a doctor.

Test does work without symptoms-maybe not always, but it does. Some people are asymptomatic and yet test positive.

Some asymptomatic people test positive, everyone needs 2 negative tests to be deemed recovered, so two tests to determine negative and asymptomatic. China information suggests that asymptomatic people may be contagious.

Steve Forbes calls for 9/11 Commission-like panel to find out why CDC 'botched' virus prep
CORONAVIRUS
Published 28 mins ago

“Forbes Media executive Steve Forbes said Monday that the federal government should consider empaneling a 9/11 Commission-likebody to examine what went wrong in the run-up to the coronavirus epidemic in the United States.”

[...]

“Forbes said there are additional measures that can be taken to improve domestic manufacturing of pharmaceuticals so as not to rely on China in the case of an epidemic like the coronavirus -- which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province.”

[...]

“"They knew back in November [and] December that a bad thing was coming our way and they responded like a bureaucracy more interested in bureaucratic rules rather than mobilizing the private sector."”

Call the doctor. They are having phone assessments to determine whether they need medical intervention for whatever ailment it could be or testing.

People always complain that you have to wait too long there for elective surgeries and things. But many people here can’t afford those surgeries at all.
