My parents used to put Pet Milk (evaporated milk) in their coffee. I didn't care for the sweetness of evaporated milk, so when I started drinking coffee (8th grade), I just put a little milk in it. Definitely no sugar. By the time I was in college, I drank coffee black. When we're on our cruises, I treat myself to a gourmet coffee card so I can have fresh brewed coffee, iced coffee, and an occasional "skinny" cappuccino with fat-free or almond milk. The coffee that is served in the main dining venues is not freshly brewed; it's made from syrup concentrate and tastes like mud.

Btw, we stocked up on evaporated milk. It's canned and stores for a long time. It is great to cook and bake with. You dilute it with water to make normal milk consistency. I forget the ratios at the moment. You can Google it.

We also stocked up and froze liquid eggs.

Yay!!! Our power is back up!

Insane that people were going down there for Spring Break, but I know so many people who were planning to go as of last week. Re my previous comment, these are the people who only pay attention when bars close and sports events are cancelled. They're the ones who put us all at risk.
I was supposed to spring break in Destin. Cancelled. I also follow local Facebook pages and can tell you it is infuriating how money hungry and greedy these rental companies, and some rental owners are. Blatantly telling people to come on down, salt air and sunshine are good! Live your life! Etc! No talk of refunds. Many renters are out thousands if they decide to cancel. I’m taking note and deciding who I will do business with again in the future. My prediction- Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa counties will become a hotspot before long. Unfortunately, the towns are so small the visitors will spread throughout the US but mainly the SE.

ETA: also hearing friends who work in restaurants are supposed to be tested yet no one- primary, er, doctor can tell them how or where to get tested!

Yes. Evaporated milk in the can is a good product to have some extra of in case fresh milk is not available.

But dont make the same mistake I almost made until someone here nicely corrected me. Condensed Milk is not the same as Evaporated Milk, and its the Evaporated Milk that you want to get.

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe temporarily released from Iranian jail
The British-Iranian aid worker Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is among thousands of prisoners temporarily released from prison in Iran because of the coronavirus outbreak, her husband has said.

The British foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, said:

I am relieved that Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe was today temporarily released into the care of her family in Iran. We urge the regime to ensure she receives any necessary medical care. While this is a welcome step, we urge the government now to release all UK dual nationals arbitrarily detained in Iran, and enable them to return to their families in the UK.

So folks, I placed an order with Kroger pick up yesterday. First time I have done the Kroger pick up. It was really easy so far and they seemed to have what I ordered in stock. I am curious to see how the pick up process goes and if my things are really there. To be fair, I did not need TP, hand sanitizer or other cleaners so I am not sure what the story would be there.

I am leaving to pick it up soon. Stay tuned!

My admission of eating all the ice cream made me think of my mom's coworker (years ago!) who opted to try "Ayds" candy for wait loss... the lady ate the entire box before her lunch break.

For those too young to remember Ayds

Yeah, she looks well. I'm sure I read she was in poor health a few months ago.

Was looking for some positive ideas on how to cope and move forward and received this today from a NY Psychiatrist - Dr. Samantha Boardman:

As a psychiatrist, I recognize how valuable everyday interactions are for mental health BUT…

Quotes from newsletter:

As a psychiatrist, I recognize how valuable everyday interactions are for mental health. We are deeply social creatures who need others as much as we need air to breathe. Studies show that frequent positive interactions with others is at the heart of our wellbeing. People who experience “felt love”—brief moments of connection in everyday life—are happier and healthier compared to those with lower felt love scores.

Of course, these moments are best experienced in person. Chocolate tastes better when shared. A hill feels less steep when walking beside another. Pain is less painful when holding a loved one’s hand. Making chitchat with someone you don’t know can brighten your day. This is why I talk to patients about making the most of face-to-face interactions with loved ones and strangers. Presence, I tell them, is everything.

But not now.

Today, I implore you to take your distance. If you’re under 50 and in good health, COVID-19 is unlikely to kill you. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take precautions to protect those who are most vulnerable. Minimizing your physical contact with the outside world might save someone else’s life.

Please don’t get on a plane unless you have to.

Please don’t visit your parents.

Please skip playdates and dinner parties.

Work from home if you can.

Social distancing might be inconvenient but someone else’s life may depend on it.

I thought I would give you all a little up date on my son in NY. Short story recap, he was exposed in class, 2 people tested positive and were sick. He was tested late last week and the results were supposed to be in yesterday. He called the follow up number and they are totally overwhelmed. His results are in but pending a doctors reading. They cannot be released without that. He was told they are totally backed up and couldn't tell him when the results would be given to him.

I am afraid things are falling apart in NY. MOO
