9/11's impact on daily life changed the world forever, while this will be remembered and lives will be lost i don't think it compares to 9/11 just my opinion

I wasn't comparing the events, just the way it affects children. This is much harder to hide from little ones than 9/11 was for many reasons.

Woolworths introduces strict limits on everything in store amid virus panic

wow that is quite severe, only 2 items per category per person per shop

As a result, Woolworths will be adopting a new system, it said today in a statement.

“As the situation continues to evolve, we’ve made some further changes to the maximum number of products customers can buy, in addition to any other limits already in place,” it reads.

“There is now a per customer, per shop limit of two items from any single category on most packaged products across Woolworths Supermarkets and Metro stores and online. This means customers will only be able to buy two products from any single included category, regardless of the brand or variety. There are some exceptions where no limits remain, such as fruit and vegetables, fresh milk and baby food.”
Fresh fruit and vegetables have been placed into the new “no limit” category along with meat (excluding mince), deli, bakery, seafood, fresh milk canned fish and drinks. Baby food also has no buying limits as well as cat and dog food and yoghurts. You can also buy unlimited amounts of Easter confectionery & merchandise.

One item limits remain on antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, paper towels, rice (2kg and above), serviettes and toilet paper.

Everything else falls under the two items per person rule.

Take a break....watch Keith Urban on Instagram at this link....

Nicole Kidman is husband Keith Urban’s number one fan! Keith Urban was supposed to play the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo but with growing coronavirus concerns the show was canceled — but that didn’t stop Urban from performing. The country star took to Instagram Monday night with a live-streamed concert and was joined by wife and Big Little Lies star Nicole Kidman.

“You’re up baby,” Nicole said as Urban began to play.

I am quarantined because of exposure to someone who is awaiting their test results. I have also had a cough but no fever or shortness of breath. Hoping just a cold.

But, I would like to try looking for silver linings where I can. My daughter teaches piano and while we are quarantined, she has learned how to use Skype to keep teaching. Some of her student’s parents actually want her to teach twice a week to help keep their children busy. So, while she isn’t able to attend college or teach in person, she is finding ways to adapt.

My husband injured his leg just as we went into quarantine. This injury has helped keep his longing to go out and mingle in check better than without the injury.

We were exposed in another state. Before we traveled we stocked up worrying about how things might change while we were gone. It was on our flight home that we heard about European travel being banned and the NBA shutting down. Two major triggers for everything else. So, we are glad we stocked up early.

Those are some of my silver linings. Does anyone have their own?

Wooohooo article about Doc T:

Tedros: The face of the global response to coronavirus pandemic
Who is the Ethiopian diplomat at the heart of the world's battle to stop the spread of the new coronavirus?

“As the new coronavirus continues to spread across the world, one public figure has become familiar to most people: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The Ethiopian in charge of the World Health Organization (WHO) has been leading the fight against the coronavirus, which he labelled last week a pandemic. For months now, he has been providing nearly daily updates on the latest information about the virus, issuing guidance and shaping the response of governments worldwide.”

Hospice and Palliative care

I just got off the phone with Hospice. If a patient has a living will, with DNR, and has COVID19, or even seems super sick, with the "flu", and is having problems breathing.

The hospice nurse I spoke with, told me, that an order for morphine can be done, a hospice nurse will come over to the home, the patient doesn't need to actually have a "diagnosis". If the patient has a DNR living will in place, and meets parameters for end of life care, they will administer the morphine at home.

The patient doesn't have to go to the hospital.

where is this?

Wow. Australian prime minister just said he’s not closing schools. Yet there are new restrictions on visitors to aged care facilities including no visitors under 16 years except in special circumstances.

Oh dear. He may regret being so laissez faire.

Well - if it prevents hoarding. Per my earlier post my visit to Publix after work today - not only is there no TP, but most of the shelves are empty. It's pretty shocking how people are hoarding so much food even if for just two weeks time. Personally, in a time like a pandemic, food and necessities like TP should be allotted at regular intervals.

Then no one can hoard like the two geniuses in Tennessee with the hand sanitizer, either.

Some will survive. Some will not. There will be stories about the Great Corona (shortened) Pandemic: businesses closed, schools shuttered, quarantines, stock market drops, and the recession. Books will be read, articles will be written, photos will be taken, and students will study. All will fold into the history of the United States of America.

The other night I saw a news show that demonstrated how people spread germs and they used a special non toxic UV powder called "Glo Germ" and sprinkled it on their kids hands and let them rummage around for some time. Then afterwards, they turned out the lights and showed them all the places that had the "germs" on it. The most surprising thing to me was the kids faces had the stuff all over their faces.

I couldnt find that exact shows demonstration but I found this similar one. It sure is a good way to demonstrate to anyone how easily we end up spreading germs.

I don't have time to watch the video, but am assuming the hiring is still at low wage with poor benefits, if any. Why would someone work there and risk getting COVID 19, but have no health insurance coverage? They would end up homeless and bankrupt.
Some laid off workers are desperate. They have bills to pay and families to feed. I would do it if I had no other income and was not in a high risk group.

It's dismaying to read about the conspiracy theorists who are calling the pandemic a hoax or poo-pooing recommended precautions. And don't even get me started on people breaking self-isolation and traveling! Grr.

I was in our local park today. It's pretty big and so people are able to walk their dogs and stroll on the beach without approaching others.

I saw a small group of kids sitting on the grass discussing books to read while school is closed. I had a little concern but I suppose they're in a low-risk situation. In any case I feel for them as teens for the most part need to be social with their peers. A lot of kids here are home schooled so maybe it'll be easier on them, I dunno.

Those of us on our gaming Discord group have been checking in on each other and lending support. The good news is we can do some raids as long as we each stay in our own cars or if we get out make sure to keep that 6' distance.

So far none of us nor anyone in town has gotten sick or knowingly exposed. We have 3 cases in the county but they're all very far away. We're kind of protected as we're at the NE tip of the state and as long as no one comes in and exposes people we may get through the pandemic with minimal exposure.

At least I hope so.

So lately I have not had an appetite at all. But here is what worked for me the last few nights for dinner. I pick out what sounds best. Not what I should eat or what is healthy or whatever. Even when I cooked it, it really didn't sound good. Kind of a Blehch..feeling. But I ate one bite, then another and not only did I realize that I was hungry but it actually tasted good. So far my three dinners have been: Grilled peanut butter and jelly, pancakes and veggie fried rice. Each time was kind of the same, didn't want to cook, then didn't feel like eating it. But I did and it ended up being ok. I normally eat much healthier but it was better than nothing at all. I hope this helps someone!
