It's the naysayers who worry me. They are not respecting protocols in all likely hood. If they or their loved one's fall ill will they be the biggest whiners?
I am not on facebook but I am constantly on twitter or various news sites, I am not seeing a significant amount of naysayers - where is everyone seeing this. There will always be ignorance and people who believe they are invincible, but they are really irrelevant. It's what is being done that counts.

Italy's doctors warn of 'catastrophic' situation as coronavirus death toll rises 345 to 2,503 and infections reach 31,506

Intensive care specialist Mirco Nacoti told the Wall Street Journal: 'Until three weeks ago, we did everything for every patient.

'Now we have to choose which patients to put in intensive care. This is catastrophic.'

The hospital's once rapid emergency response is also at breaking point, with even people reporting heart attacks waiting an hour on the phone because the lines are being bombarded.

Dr Angelo Giupponi, who coordinates Papa Giovanni's emergency response, said his team takes 2,500 calls daily and brings 1,500 to hospital.

Signalling the team were caught off-guard by the epidemic, he said that ambulance staff have not been trained for such a contagion, and revealed many have become infected after their vehicles became contaminated.

Dispatcher Diego Bianco, a 40-something with no underlying health conditions, even died.

I’m absolutely dreading this happening in all our countries.

Their decision may be safer for you and many others. The jeans have to go through packing, sorting, mailing sorting again and then mail carriers having to get it to your house... thats a lot of hands transferring what could possibly be COVID - to you and to each other.

That may be true and probably is but I hate purchasing clothing in a store. I don't know who has touched the item, tried it on, etc. No good answer except don't buy clothes for a while!!!

I'm not much for telling people how to vote, but Floridians should consider an alternative.....IMO

Florida Gov. DeSantis declines to issue an order to close the state's beaches, despite coronavirus spread concerns; says that local governments can make their own decisions. Florida governor refuses to shut down beaches amid spread of coronavirus
That's really reckless IMO about the beaches. The spring breakers get on the beach and add alcohol and they lose their good judgment. But I guess if they had good judgment, they wouldn't be there in the first place. sigh
We voted early.

One of my favorite stores that I order from and pay their outrageous shipping charge is closing their stores until the end of the month. I never go in the store but the local mall is having closure after closure.

That seems like it's for the best. I imagine a mall is practically a petri dish.

We're still moving students out of the residence halls at our university, a lot of the students were away during spring break (March 9-13 spring break here) and a lot of students don't read their emails and came back from spring break not realizing the university had moved to remote learning. For students who have nowhere to go, or international students, they can petition to stay in a residence hall on campus, so we have dedicated one residence hall for these students, and so far about 100 students have requested this option until the end of semester, if needed. But all classes are online or another format, no face-to-face classes. There will be meals prepared to "grab and go" for these students only while they are on campus in that one residence hall. Today the university president asked all staff to plan to work remotely, starting Thursday, March 19th unless identified as essential employees. Commencement in May has been cancelled.

Edited by me to fix typo
Oh my goodness. Everyone is dealing with headaches. My child is in a private institution that hasn’t closed for the semester yet.

What are other schools doing with dining hall reimbursements? Reimbursing or no? I am wondering what to expect.

Oh my. Please tell me that the physicians haven't had a conference recently.

I hope one of the positives that comes from this virus, is that a lot of unnecessary business travel ceases. In this day and age there are thousands of meetings every day in the world that could be held by Skype or similar. The boozing, schmoozing and racking up a zillion airmiles needs to slow right down.

And yet my local court system is only closed until 3-30-20. Idiots. And have not called me to continue tomorrow’s hearing. They can’t even get notice together.

Last Monday everything was totally normal at court. No one social distancing. People not covering their coughs. No hand sanitizer in sight. The clerk beaming as she’s handling everyone’s paper work.

I was huddling outside the line of people six feet from everyone, and was the last to check in so I wouldn’t have to stand close.

I called the clerk yesterday about that case and she sounded on the verge of tears.

I just don’t understand how at every level of government everyone has been so blaze and uneducated about this health crisis. Where were the local health departments all along? Why weren’t there calls weeks ago to prepare to shut it all down?

We, on the thread have watched this evolve from the beginning from China over a period of time. We've prepared what we can. It just hit most folks.

@Amonet started this thread on Jan 17th., a month ago exactly.

Two months and its here in my town. Tears....my heart breaks.

We'll be locked down within a day or two. Its coming to a town near you and me. If the states don't communities will!! I remember the community in China, that bulldozed up the road and had armed citizens standing guard.

Georgia may have the best idea, use the state park. Wide open spaces, use temples housing, lots of land, can be completely contained/surrounded.
Moo...

Well, you can put on gloves, get jeans out, put them into washing machine. Or you could leave the package un-opened for a while. There is only so long this virus lives on surfaces.
