Wanted to stop by (again) and post this info for anyone who has an elderly or vulnerable family member or friend in the UK - from Thursday March 19th, Sainsbury’s will be reserving the first hour of trade for older/vulnerable customers. I could do a happy dance at this news, as it means my Dad, who lives in a remote area, will be able to walk up to his little supermarket and get some fresh air and some socially-distanced human contact.

Thank you for posting this very useful information it could really help people like my Dad and I.

I feel absolutely terrible about my 73 year old diabetic Dad going out to get food from the supermarket. He insisted a few weeks ago that he would now go and get the shopping alone. Because he would rather risk getting the virus himself than put me in danger.

We are able to talk on the phone but it’s not the same. I’m making a sign to take tomorrow to hold up outside her window; it’s the little things.

That’s heartbreaking. Hugs to you, and your beautiful mother.

Me too. It will ruin me. I could be housebound as well for 18 months. I don’t know how I puke be able to cope.

I’m interested in what all the people who were saying this was no bigger deal than the flu. That they can’t imagine anyone here getting it. That we are hysterical and panicking. What are they thinking now?
Lots of people are still saying that. Lots of people think it is a huge hoax. Unreal.

Agreed. The response has been ridiculously slow and unconcerned, IMO.

Interesting that among those exempt from this order are auto supply stores, auto repair and related business. I work for a small auto parts manufacturer and I wonder if we are exempt.

Where is the "Head Banging" emoji? OMG! My husband just told me he is going to see the podiatrist at the VA next week!

Yes, I just yelled at him for the last 10 minutes! And what the heck is with the VA "healthcare system" scheduling veterans for optional appointments? Especially elderly ones?!

WTH?! Talk about clueless.

Our main VA facility is supposed to be locked down. Last Friday my husband called to reschedule an appointment. He was trying to help out. They treated him like he was trying to get out of it. Monday morning they called him to reschedule. :)

Sorry about the “puke” typo. Don’t know where it came from.

It occurs to me that those who are losing their jobs will also be losing their health insurance. hmm
I think anyone presenting with this virus will be treated , for free if necessary. JMO

Yes. You are. Your provide a service related to transportation. I’m exempt too except I can’t really go to court until there’s a vaccine. I mean I can do a lot without being in person, although I’m not sure how to get new clients without a face to face.

But evidentiary hearings and trials have to be in person. And I’m very scared to risk my life due to my condition. But no work means I lose my business. I mean it takes a lot to build a business in one area and it’s not that easy to just switch to a different area that doesn’t necessitate litigation. (Which I also enjoy, BTW).

But there are many who have it worse. And I have to just have faith and do the best I can and try to survive. We all do.

My dentist emailed me. His office will be closed until further notice, except for a dental emergency, such as broken tooth, abscess or if in severe pain. I'm sure it's same for other dentists too?
I can't imagine how busy they will be after this crisis is over, whenever that is.
Let's stay healthy everyone!

This is the same for my dentist.

I guess each day we wake up alive should be considered a good day.

I agree. I think the bigger issue will be not enough beds, equipment, staff to care for all the sick.

Isn’t it crazy that we are here? I feel this huge sense of unreality sometimes. Do you guys feel that? Like this is a crazy nightmare we are going to wake up from?

Are you allowed to be a "tutor" for the bar at an hourly rate?
I'm guessing no way!
I remember we had weekend conferences before the boards, but that was before the internet.

That’s a possibility. Probably won’t pay enough to pay the bills but maybe some. It’s something.

Very early Tuesday morning my cousin Jim passed away of the Coronavirus. He was in good health & had no underlying medical issues/diseases.

Additionally, the state that I live in, West Virginia announced Tuesday evening that they have their first positive case.
So sorry to hear that. I hope he did not suffer long.

Younger law students that are in the abyss right now... IDK. Homeschool someone's kids via Facetime!
Lol
I know it's no where close to your salary.
Call up your professional contacts, ya never know what it might be worth it them!
Fingers crossed.
