MAYOR OF NYC

The only force that can do that quickly and effectively is the US Military. They’re being sidelined when they should be called to the front.
THIS is the front right now.

We need the US Military where they can save the most American lives and right now that’s places like New York City.
And soon it’s going to be a lot of other places.
Mr. President, give the order

In case anyone was wondering, my DH's test results for Corona Virus are still not back. He called a number we were given, left a message and we didn't hear anything back. So we still don't know anything. We're still sleeping in separate bedrooms tonight but we briefly broke isolation from one another today. We ran into each other in the hallway and instead of turning and going back inside my room so he could pass without coming near me, I told him I don't care if he has Covora Virus or not I wanted a hug. I'm bound to get CoV if he has it anyway. So we held each other for a few moments and he kissed the top of my head. Then I went and poured hand sanitizer on my head where he kissed me and washed my hands really well, as if that will work. LOL. I've got to laugh or I'll cry at this point.

The good news is that we are both feeling better today. Today was our 3rd day taking anti-malarial meds. I'm not sure if those meds are helping our bodies fight or if maybe we don't have the Corona Virus at all. Tomorrow (Thursday) will be one week since my DH's first symptoms of coughing started. My coughing started the next day (Last Friday). DH had a low-grade fever Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues, but no fever today. If this is some other bug that he wasn't tested for, he might be over it already. I've read the Corona Virus lasts for about 2 weeks. Therefore, I'm thinking either the meds and vitamins we are taking are helping OR we don't have Corona Virus yet. I'm leaning towards the idea that we probably don't have it.

So do they have on plaquenil for COVID-19? What is the length of time you are supposed to take it?

YOUR FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

Place in plastic bag- or sink with stopper. Add a few drops of dish washing soap. Add water until foaming.
Mix around until all are covered with the soapy water. Let sit for about 5 minutes.
Pour soapy water down the drain.
Rinse fruit or veggies with clean water. Let dry.
Good to go.

Thank you, @Henry2326 and @margarita25 for all your work on these threads.

Thank You for something happy here. It's an exuberant, buoyant emoji. Love it!

My molasses cookies came perfect. I put a dash of chili and turmeric in the spice mix for fun. Glad I did...yummy. :)

A neighbor of mine works for Vons supermarket. She said people are coming in and doing “hurricane sneezes”. WITHOUT COVERING.

What. The. Hell.
How can I or anyone else maintain composure when this crap occurs?
I have an acquaintance that manages a very large truck stop a few minutes away. They are non stop busy plus they offer showers, so the guys (and women) are coming from all over, bringing a duffel bag in, carrying dirty clothes out. Also since it is right of I 75 they have heavy tourist traffic.
So you have a variety of persons at the huge coffee/snack island handling cups, napkins, condiments, etc. Uhm, no thanks, I’d prefer fasting. But she’s sure all the cashiers have or will have it. Should these establishments close and offer pay at pump only? Idk. Or, should they stay open & hope their minimum wage crew live?

I told my husband that I need some "kitten therapy", and may need to pick up 2 kittens from the shelter this week.
I've been thinking the same thing and wondering how my eight-year-old kitties would like a new playmate.

Martial Law baby. Couldn’t have come sooner. Moo.

ETA: or maybe it could have, not the point at this moment because what we have is HERE and NOW.

Again thank you Dr. Mike for drilling this into my head!

(Like he’s reading here lol)

Updating on the goings on in NYC right now (if you're interested):

I live down in the East Village/Lower East Side and it's *silent* out. It's been warm enough to sleep with my windows open and thanks to my insomnia, I can actually hear all of the birds singing as the sun rises. Day and night theres usually a cacophony of cab horns, sirens and people. Nothing. I went up on my roof earlier and watched all my neighbors in buildings up and down the block out on their roofs too. Some stretching, some with laptops, some exercising... one dancing. All looking like they (we) are going stir-crazy. I had to run out today and everyone else I saw was, for the most part, following the social distancing rules. There is a dog run in the park near me. Instead of the dog parents gathering on the benches they were all dotted around the run talking at a distance. I'm quite impressed - in a place where it is sometimes hard to find an inch of personal space and bumping and brushing up to strangers is normal, we are making do.

No, there are not. Right now, it's still case by case, reports to the CDC, and then wait for CDC to investigate vectors. Whenever they announce "community transmission" (which is a thing where I live - near Los Angeles), it means no known vector from a traveler and not a traveler themselves.

We just don't have data on how many people in each category - yet.

People are getting it from school kids, teachers, but especially from hospital waiting rooms, some medical equipment and personnel, shopkeepers, food servers (via air), large gatherings, etc, etc.
Thank you so much!

Is it almost like child abuse to bring kids out? Schools closed so they would be out of the public. I realize you’re referring to a baby, but in general, why risk your kid contracting or transmitting it? I simply don’t get the defiance.
Absolutely. But no one has thus far in the last few days I’ve walked. But I’m veering SUPER widely around little kids because they can’t control themselves.

However, my ex shopped for the family and saw a mutual friend of ours in the store. They talked for a moment. The friend had brought her baby in. Who sneezed.

Luckily my ex was pretty far and got even farther after that. Our friend said “the baby is sick. He has an earache.” Then why the hell bring him to a store? She has a husband who works from home. That wasn’t a necessity.

This stuff is why this spreads so much. Lack of common sense.

Tomorrow I am definitely heading to Publix, I have to have coffee creamer and snacks.
I cannot handle black coffee - suffered through it today.

Someone posted today that going around 10:30 am was a good time so I am going to try to go at that time. I will sneak out from work (even though I am working from home) and go get the necessities - coffee creamer and snacks. Thank Goodness the store is 5 minutes away.

It's also selfish. You can't stop a baby from sneezing or coughing on a cashier.

Ontario doctor rigs up solution to double ventilator capacity in rural hospital
'OTTAWA -- A doctor in Ontario has improvised a way to double his small hospital's ventilator capacity in preparation for a possible COVID-19 outbreak.

Anesthetist Dr. Alain Gauthier, who has a PhD in respiratory mechanics and works in Perth, west of Ottawa, spotted the idea in a YouTube video.

In basic terms, the rig involves pairing patients of similar size and lung capacity, and running two hoses from one ventilator running at double power.

He worries the high-risk population his hospital serves may be in greater need of ventilators than his hospital can provide.

Gauthier says the idea has been studied in theory and tried once before, for people injured in a mass shooting in Las Vegas.'

Think of the risk in a convenient store if you go for a soda or coffee at the self serve area. Omg we know it is all but impossible to touch only one lid. No one washes their hands before getting a beverage, they pump (maybe dump), fill up a drink cup never ever washing hands. Door handles/knobs suddenly make me ill.
