FL - THINK WE NEED FEDERAL INTERVENTION WITH THIS SITUATION MOO!

Oh I do predict it is coming....... A friend lives in Ft Lauderdale and has for 50+ years. She stated the spring breakers were congregating in the streets and LE were literally having to babysit them to control the chaos. The last thing our LE needs to be bothered with is a bunch of drunk college students who think they're invincible. JMO

My older daughter works for a state agency and they're starting to hear rumblings of a lock down. Nothing official though. They've been in planning meetings about what work can be done from home and getting IT to relocate their physical work stations. No doubt all organizations are looking at their work from home options too. JMO

So phoned the vet this morning,
to arrange a routine pedicure for my black lab.
He's a rite spasmodic idiot when he goes to the vet,
(He gets da crazy eyes, iykwim)
and well known at the clinic,
so usually we arrange as first appointment of the day.

My husband pays the bill first, and then grabs the bucking bronco from the truck, straight through the front doors, into the back of the clinic; a few minutes later, the nail clipping is done and out the door he goes, back in the truck.

Today, K at the vet told me they are only taking priority cases,
but she knows me dog, and she could make a memo for exception,
or she would just call me back in two weeks.

She sounded overwhelmed and afraid.
I said I could wait, phone me back in two
and my hubs and I could try to trim the nails on our own.

So, y'all might what to contact your vet and see what's what.

our vet is currently limiting one person per visit

Gotta say I'm done with the young-people bashing.

They are acting no more foolish and self-indulgent than prior generations. Many carry a LOT of anxiety, and no small sense of betrayal about what we, the elders, have allowed to happen to the planet and to the institutions our own elders built.

It's our job to keep teaching them why we need them to comply (hard to do when we are judging), and it's our job to say, "Thank you. I know it's hard to give up a chunk of your youth for the common good."
I'm certainly not a young people basher. But if the young are doing wrong, two wrongs don't make a right.

Everybody needs to learn to comply...young, old and everyone inbetween!

I've not witnessed this young people bashing you talk of. I've got more issues with my 71 year old father in law !!!

Getting scary for us in Louisiana. No reported cases yet in Acadiana but not many tested either. Just setup large screening center in Lafayette and is staffed by local hospitals and Acadian Ambulance EMTs. Our local US Congressman made an ignorant video calling our governor’s move to shuttering of businesses a dumb move because it’s only a virus.

Wow, what a name for a prison.

It reminds me that in GA they decided to put the first quarantine place in Hard Labor Creek. Certainly doesn't evoke pleasant thoughts.

Everyone, if you have concerns about the crowds in your grocery store, please email your Governor. I am delighted my question was promptly answered & the situation will be resolved ASAP. Many of us can get by with only needing to go to the grocery every 7-10 days, I’d like to not be in danger, if possible, and be able to purchase TP, lol.
I’ll let you know what steps Kroger takes to limit the number of shoppers at any given time, once the plan is in place.
Also, Toyota plant will close Monday & Tuesday. I’m not sure what that will accomplish. Evidently many team members reached out to WLEX to express concerns over their working conditions.

I've read that (anecdotally) myself - that older and younger are not taking it as seriously as those in the middle.

See my post down thread. Try it.
What good does it do for us to stay home and self isolate if children attend day care? It seems an almost perfect breeding ground for coronavirus to me. Kids just naturally put things in their mouths, then touch and play with the other children. Then they go home and pass it on to their parents and siblings. Parents go to work and pass it on and on and on and on...........................................

Thanks @otto I am hoping tomorrow morning will have fewer people. Carp, I don't know, maybe will wait until just before closing tonight. Whatever is happening to my reason and logic?
There will be fewer people in the morning and it will be much cleaner than it will be tonight. IMO.

We are deeply saddened that faculty member Professor Stephen Schwartz passed away due to a COVID-19 infection. He has left a lasting imprint on our department, our university, and the broader scientific community and will be greatly missed.

I agree. I am one of the people who posted a video about Miami. That is a big concern. But we also need to realize that it seems most young people ARE taking this seriously. If you go onto popular social media, there are endless posts with thousands (sometimes hundreds of thousands!) of "shares" and "likes" about how to practice effective social distancing, what to do during a self-quarantine. Even touching posts about protecting their parents and grandparents. A lot of young people are being responsible. Let's not give them a bad reputation just because a fraction of them are being idiots.
Right on. The idiots make more interesting news stories (and the bikinis garner more "clicks" as well).

Thanks for your input. Yes, my experience with Walmart is that 9 a.m. = fewer people, fewer families and hopefully cleaner. I remember the days of independent pharmacies that delivered prescriptions. Such is life.

This is how it looks at the moment outside the emergency room where I work. A white tent to be used as a pre-pre triage. I don't know who will be working there. I'm glad that I have this week off, the next couple of weeks will be heavy. Nu sätts sjukvårdstält upp vid akutmottagningen - Blekinge Läns Tidning

Been meaning to ask how things are going over there in Sweden? Sounds like you are at a similar stage as the UK from this article. Stay safe!

Apologies if this is a repeat

"The Senate on Wednesday passed an economic relief bill to help combat the coronavirus pandemic, ensuring free testing and paid leave for certain workers. The measure now heads to President Donald Trump's desk for his signature.

Lawmakers overwhelmingly voted 90-8 in favor of the "phase two" stimulus measure.

The economic relief bill ensures free COVID-19 testing, bolsters unemployment insurance, increases spending on health insurance for the poor and adds $1 billion in food aid.

The agreement includes paid sick days for some employees, as well as three months of paid emergency leave throughout the course of the coronavirus crisis. To help offset the costs for employers, businesses would be reimbursed for some of these costs through tax credits.

The Treasury Department also sent a proposal to lawmakers to approve $250 billion in direct payments to Americans in April, with another $250 billion going out in May.

Schumer said these cash payments are not enough.

"A single $1,000 check would help someone pay their landlord in March, but what happens after that?" Schumer said. "How do they pay their rent in April when their restaurant or store is still closed for business? How about May, how bout June? $1000 goes by pretty quickly if you're unemployed."

If a package does include direct payments, they need to be "bigger, more frequent, and more targeted," he added."
