Two generic drugs being tested in U.S. in race to find coronavirus treatments Two generic drugs being tested in U.S. in race to find coronavirus treatments Reuters on Twitter

But a 1,500-person trial, led by the University of Minnesota, began this week to see whether malaria treatment hydroxychloroquine can prevent or reduce the severity of COVID-19. Two other trials are studying the blood pressure drug losartan as a possible treatment for the disease.
They are testing losartan yet losartan is a blood pressure drug that people have theorized could be making covid infection worse. I would really like to know which one it is.

Precaution

At the beginning of the outbreak, I was staying with a friend at hospice center and until then I never realized how many times I touch my face. It took those blue latex gloves for me to notice... MOO

They didn't test toilet paper? ;)
There already is no toilet paper to be found. If people start making masks out of it, we really going to be in trouble.

I still have my granny’s war ration book and some stamps left. Wonder if they’ve expired!

Ha! I have my great-grandmother's ration book. I can get some sugar, and IIRC, some cooking oil.

snipped.

I'm seeing kids all over the place. My husband said co-workers brought kids to work yesterday. ?!?

There wasn't a plan of what to do with the kids when the school closed, which is why I think de Blasio in NYC was so reluctant to close them, but he was pressured to do so.

I see both sides to the decision, but it's too late now. Most schools are closed and the kids are now in the community.

Huge problem created for people still working. On the home front, distance virtual teaching, my husband is getting the hang of it. Yesterday was day 1. The school IT folks forgot to change some settings so things would work on our home network. Microphone and speakers failed. I dialed him into his own virtual classroom. He’s really glad now that my work at home crashes and issues taught me how to do that

Just heard that the President is making available immediately anti malaria drugs. It may not work. But he's hopeful it does.

Who is our member that has been taking this?

Interesting.... I would think to reduce the severity of the symptoms of Covid-19, any Rx related to the respiratory system would also be in the study.

A large Asian owned nail salon spoke out last night, all of her nail techs work contract labor, making them ineligible for UI. I have a lot of skepticism about our local nail salons. Some have 30 techs yet only one license on the wall. The techs bring their kids to work all summer, forcing them to sit quietly in a room full of toxic air. Their seem well behaved, they literally don’t move.
We have a lot of small hair salons, I, too, worry & wonder what will happen. Our Governor closed both places indefinitely.
My husband suggested he could give me a buzz cut like he wears.

I declined the offer, but if he asks again in 8 weeks.....?

But, seriously, I do sorry about all the salon workers. There is no way to do their work except close up.

We have an acquaintance who is a massage therapist, and is now living on savings since nobody is booking a session and probably won't for a long time.

Losartan isn't an ACE inhibitor, *I don't believe*. I'm on metoprolol for hbp and tachycardia, but it's a beta blocker. Jmo

It's an ARB blocker but was mentioned as possibly making covid infectivity worse. Now they are testing it as a possible treatment. So I would really like to know if it's good or bad (I am taking it personally).
"Figures show the most common in England are Ramipril, Losartan, Lisinopril and Candesartan, and were prescribed almost 65 million times last year."
Medicine taken by millions could increase the risk of catching coronavirus, scientists warn
