Stephen Colbert on his show just made a point that this song's lyrics might be coming true. Hope not!

School's out for Summer
School's out forever

This is a heartbreaking story from WA. :(

Mom of 6 who survived breast cancer dies from COVID-19 in Snohomish Co.

The community is now rallying behind her children—ranging from middle school to college— who are now left without any parents.

Family and friends remember Sundee Rutter as a fierce fighter and single mom of six who beat stage four breast cancer. She lost her husband some years ago.

Her life of beating the odds—was ended by Covid-19 at the age of 42.

Bringing forward my earlier post for internal reference since it refers to things ahead:

Coronavirus COVID-19 *Global Health Emergency* #13

“BBM:

“But the questions of our — the U.S. supply of PPE, those questions really need to go to the ASPR they have responsibility for the Strategic National Stockpile in the United States.

- Dr. Nancy / CDC telebriefing Tuesday, March 3 / source

Here are a few very quick links for notes/reference:

https://www.phe.gov/about/sns/Pages/default.aspx

Strategic National Stockpile

“Strategic National Stockpile is the nation’s largest supply of potentially life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies for use in a public health emergency severe enough to cause local supplies to run out.

When state, local, tribal, and territorial responders request federal assistance to support their response efforts, the stockpile ensures that the right medicines and supplies get to those who need them most during an emergency. Organized for scalable response to a variety of public health threats, this repository contains enough supplies to respond to multiple large-scale emergencies simultaneously.”

Amazon warehouse worker tests positive for coronavirus as drivers for the online giant say they were given just ONE WIPE to clean their shared delivery van

A worker at Amazon's warehouse in New York City has tested positive to coronavirus, sparking fears about the safety of the company's packages and the thousands of other employees who pack them.

This infuriates me that ONE WIPE to clean is supplied. I am not surprised though. I have a family member that works at one of their warehouses. I brought up the question as to what they are doing to protect the employees two weeks ago. smh
I also have someone that works at a VERY large retailer's Pharmacy - they are not supplied with hand sanitizer. They are dealing with the sick along with people filling everyday prescriptions and their money. And touching the cash register keys - nope, not wiping those down. ugghhhh

I am terrified this is going to happen to me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last August. I’ve gone through chemo and a double mastectomy, and am supposed to start radiation in a couple of weeks. I still have teens at home.

In just a few moments it’s up to 219,575 with 8928 deaths on that site. :(

Yes and it’s important to keep in mind what White House Dr. B said today, that we are going to see a major increase over the next 5 days due to increased testing; many tests are being crammed together and that this is not indicative of a curve or to be equivocated with “Italy” - the curve will be off.

It’s up to you to protect yourself. You can’t allow anyone around you who has exposed themselves to others. Be safe!

I’m so sorry @TristanP. I probably shouldn’t have posted it here. :( Hugs!

If you have limited immunity, then unfortunately I think the only way forward is limited contact. That’s just the reality of the virus.

In regards to the hoarding, it’s going to stop. The problem isn’t the existence of the products, but their availability from warehouse to store shelves (people are buying them faster than they can be restocked).

Things will start to improve quickly (people only need so much toilet paper), and there’s always Amazon and Walmart.

(I don’t think Tom wears white anymore:cool:)

We are doing limited contact... I’m just on the fence and really not wanting to hear the truth or even figure out how to handle it. I have a medical background & I don’t panic but I’m watching our local numbers skyrocket.

Yes... no shortage but the folks in my town just don’t seem to get it. I gave away most of my toilet paper to people who couldn’t go get it on there own and I don’t regret it but after a few fruitless stops today I may have to get very savvy or go on a road trip. Amazon had been selling out on the products that everyone is after.

Do you have a timeframe prediction? I’m thinking it’ll be summer before we start to see positive things. I worry Baker loves to go to the extremes... I can picture him ordering sheltering in place. Which is probably what we need!

True. Of course this was a worldwide figure, so it’s hard (for me) to know how it applies in the U.S. in terms of what Dr. Brix was talking about. It just amazes me how fast the worldwide figures change on that site.

“People want to go big. Everybody seems to want to go big,” Trump said.”

Ha! Good ole Charlie goes with the wind, so we’ll see. I think he’ll hold off sheltering in place until we see the numbers really start to jump (NY has seen an explosion and is about there).

In my neck of the woods (central Mass), everyone I know is doing this social isolation thing. Hopefully it slows the progression down to where there is no need to go to extremes. I guess we might have to do this sort of thing a few times over the coming months.

It’s all about slowing the progression and giving the medical community time to catch up.

Updated at 8:34 p.m. ET

“President Trump signed the latest coronavirus aid package into law Wednesday evening.

The Senate approved the new round of emergency funding earlier Wednesday.

The economic relief bill marks the second such aid package in a matter of weeks. The legislation passed Wednesday provides paid sick and family leave for some for U.S. workers impacted by the illness, expands unemployment assistance, includes nutrition assistance and increases resources for testing. Efforts are already underway to put together a third, larger relief measure that could total $1 trillion.”

And that won't be the last one. Just the beginning. Amazon should not be immune to these social distancing measures.

Coronavirus response: Trump is delaying tax payments but you still have to file by April 15
March 18, 2020

““If you owe a payment to the IRS, you can defer up to $1 million as an individual,” said Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, adding that the payments would be “interest free and penalty free for 90 days.”

“All you have to do is file your taxes; you’ll automatically not get charged interest in penalties,” Mnuchin said during a coronavirus briefing with President Trump looking on.

But another tax-day ritual isn’t changing: You still have to file by April 15.”
