In New York and New Jersey, so many people attempted to file for unemployment that the online systems for submitting applications crashed in both states. https://t.co/u3YilZzql

Too risky. If one person gets the virus, then the entire warehouse would have to be shut down and disinfected.
Nurses & doctors are showing up on the frontlines every day, some in their high-risk years. If they decided it was too risky to show up, the death toll would be a whole lot higher. These saints are desperate for masks. I’ve proposed a suggestion for getting that volume to them in a timely manner. I haven’t seen a more realistic idea proposed but I’m all ears. Nothing is zero risk. If we lose half our health care force to infection, we’ll wish we would have found a way to get those masks manufactured. Respectfully, moo.

Lol I was texting a friend, she said, BIG LOTS.....sorry. I never go in that parking lot unless I drop or puck up cleaning. Never paid attention to the store. It is large & was once a Winn Dixie. Sorry.
I hadn't ever heard of Big Dots, but with a little help from Google, it looks to be a party supply store. In these parts, we have Party City. It has party supplies for all occasions, seasonal costumes, etc. Looks like Big Dot is similar with lots of stuff for kids to touch

NY

Gov Cuomo:

Fighting the Virus and Fighting Fear

Fear is more dangerous than the virus

Fear is as contagious as the virus

Panic is more dangerous (like during floods, fires, etc)

Some conversations are irrational - ie) roadblocks; mandatory quarantines

Clear, consistent communication necessary

He would have to authorize Lockdown & It is NOT happening

So am I to assume everyone believes “my kid won’t get it, kids don’t get it” and they’re willing to assume both sides of the risk?
Soon the stores will be noon-8, imo. Of course limited hours only causes more congestion during open hours, imo.

I really think (for whatever reason) some areas are just not getting "it". Aren't you in Kentucky? I'm in southern indiana. I'm an outside vendor and was shocked at how different one town can be from another. Jmo

I hope you remain safe. Are you seeing mainly adults shopping? Or are you seeing entire family units?
Also, are you allowed to “hold” TP in the back for employees? Our local WMT is allowing this. I’m not complaining, they are on the front line, they need TP!
I see mainly adults. Not many kids at all which is good. It gets pretty crazy and kids don't need to see that or be around someone that could potentially have it.
We are not allowed to hold back anything ever. It has always been a rule for employees. We can go shopping on our lunch break or after work but holding something in the back before you can buy it will get your fired on the spot. The TP shortage is so bad here that I had my sisiter in law bring us some from a small store she found in dallas.

When I see a kid bigger than his mom, I think he’s old enough to stay home & babysit. I understand they want to get out of their house, idk why they can’t walk or play.
I guess some of these family shopping groups will all end up sick, like that poor NJ family.
I think it's more of people not having child care options, as well as others who don't see the risk to the community and not appreciating that vulnerable people could catch the virus from kids who might not be displaying symptoms.

Gov Cuomo:

Today, reducing the density in NY

No more than 25% of people can be in the workforce (Except essential services) (From 50% yesterday)

Asking 75% of workforce to work from home

I am ordering all paper products on-line: mostly from Cleaning companies who seem to have enough stock to provide it. I am so
pissed at those people who hoarded enough toilet paper for
10 years!!! so selfish---you can order on Amazon now -toilet paper and such, but it won't be delivered until April 20---- i can't wait that long- duh!!!!

I hope WMT gives everyone that worked thru this 1,000 stock shares! They deserve it & it would be a good learning strategy for many of the younger employees.
Sadly I doubt that is going to be the case. Without saying too much because I could get in trouble they aren't very understanding of the things that we are having to go through at the stores.

I think your idea is good. And I think you need to contact them with the suggestion.

Face masks, even cloth ones, need to be considered an essential service. No different than grocery stores or gas stations, hospitals, pharmacies.

If we start mass producing reusable, washable (and properly sanitized) face masks we might get somewhere.

And I get it, but they seriously need to change this rule, temporarily, and show some appreciation for their employees. What harm does it do for you all to set aside reasonable amounts of necessities? Could even be up to the managers to oversee, but really, maybe they could trust their employees just a bit?

You're paying for the goods, and dealing with stressed out, germy, or hoardy folks all day long. You are essential workers in my book, and should be by law.

Morning friends, Florida has 112 new cases.
"TALLAHASSEE — Florida leaders reported the biggest surge in coronavirus cases yet Wednesday, and an eighth death, even as Gov. Ron DeSantis asserted that the state is not testing enough people to know how widespread the disease is."

Florida reports 112 new coronavirus cases as governor laments lack of testing
