We had a cashier at our local store that was the nicest person ever, always smiling & courteous. I sent corp’ a letter describing how fortunate we were to have her locally & how all of us wanted to use her cashier lane. She got called to the office by her manager and got a huge hourly raise! This was years ago. The next time I was in the store she hugged me & was teary eyed. I still see her to this day, she’s now retired.

:D Those letters get forwarded as “Letters to the President” and have to be responded to by leaders at store level. Thank you for writing! Mostly get complaints but there are SO many genuinely hard workers who rarely get recognized or appreciated.

I am ordering all paper products on-line: mostly from Cleaning companies who seem to have enough stock to provide it. I am so
pissed at those people who hoarded enough toilet paper for
10 years!!! so selfish---you can order on Amazon now -toilet paper and such, but it won't be delivered until April 20---- i can't wait that long- duh!!!!
Wet wipes and washcloths in a pinch!!

A friend told me her neighbor is going to FL because our tanning salons were ordered closed. The woman is always very tan & unwilling to lose her color. Idk if hotel pools are open or not. I also don’t know about hotels on private beaches.

Madness. If a tan is that necessary, buy a bottle online and get it delivered.

I love your post! He is more of what is needed. Definitely compassionate and certainly wise. Lucky NY!

Did you see he also had his youngest daughter at the presser when he addressed the "young people?' She is missing her graduation, and he said to her, "We will have a party for you...later. "
Sounds like the family is close (and funny).

This video is MSM and about the virus, btw so on topic. (Ignore the Italian subtitles, the audio is in English.)

EDITED TO ADD: These two are brothers, for those who don't know.

Or you can install a bidet if you know how. Or you can even use a hand held spray bottle as a bidet.

LOVE THIS! Especially in an era when people are only too eager to post videos online to ridicule or complain about others.

Way to set an example of how to be better than that - thanks for sharing.

Agreed, and I also thank you for doing this! We need to do this way more often. For the first time ever I felt compelled to fill out one of those bottom of the receipt surveys at Target (hubby's a big fan of those surveys for free donuts or whatever :)). We need to make corporate see our appreciation for the low-wage workers on the front lines.

Lol, when she was notified to see the manager she said she thought she was in “big trouble” for something. Then he presented her with a copy of the letter. It used to be on the break room bulletin board, prob’ gone by now, replaced with “wash your hands”.

That is so sad!!!! I think we will be hearing more cases like this and it is heartbreaking and tragic: think about people who have regular medical problems and conditions that need procedures and operations - many hospitals are cancelling elective procedures- people continue to suffer from all of this- and has nothing to do with the virus and many of them won't be able to get proper treatment because of this hideous virus. This is truly a horror.

Amazon is sold out of all the bidets except the 800 dollar Toto model.

De Blasio calls on US military to help New York amid coronavirus, addresses possible ‘shelter-in-place’
17 hours ago

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday that the American military should “get in this game” and help areas battling the coronavirus outbreak, while also clarifying that he is “almost to the point” of recommending a city-wide “shelter-in-place” order to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

De Blasio criticized the federal government for not deploying the military to help affected areas in a morning interview with NBC’s “Today.”

“There are American military officers still building a wall at the southern border when all they should be doing domestically is addressing coronavirus,” he said. “The American military is being sidelined when they should be given the chance to get in this game and help us all.”

He said the military “has extraordinary medical capacity” and logistical expertise, which is “needed in places like New York” to ensure food and medicines can move without disruptions to the supply chain.

At a press briefing later Wednesday, Cuomo said he spoke with President Trump and announced the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will arrive in New York in the afternoon, while a U.S. Navy hospital ship with 1,000 hospital rooms, including an operating room, will arrive later.”

Gov. Cuomo says he won't approve coronavirus 'shelter-in-place' order for New York City after mayor tells residents to prepare
WED, MAR 18 2020

“New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he won’t approve a “shelter-in-place” order for New York City, a day after Mayor Bill de Blasio told residents to prepare for one.

“That is not going to happen, shelter in place, for New York City,” Cuomo said on The Daily podcast by The New York Times. “For any city or county to take an emergency action, the state has to approve it. And I wouldn’t approve shelter in place.”

Cuomo said that such drastic policies would create more fear amid the COVID-19 outbreak, which has now infected more than 6,500 people across the U.S. and killed at least 115, according to Johns Hopkins University. With 1,717 confirmed infections, New York state has more cases than any other state in the country. However, Cuomo has said the true number is likely much higher due to limited testing capacity and stringent federal guidelines over who’s eligible for diagnostic testing.

“Quarantine in place, you can’t leave your home,” Cuomo said. “The fear, the panic is a bigger problem than the virus.”“
SMH.

No private beaches in Fl. to my knowledge. They tried years ago but it was a no go.
Hotel pools and condo pools, are probably still open as this whole state has been reluctant
to grasp the seriousness of closing things down. Except for the frontline workers who are witnessing the hospitals filling up with patients who STILL cannot be tested due to a shortage of tests, swabs and components.
We keep hearing "the tests are coming, the swabs are coming, the drive thru test sites are
coming. But we still WAIT.

That’s what bothers me. We knew the Chinese government was lying, the world knew they were lying, and we lost crucial time.

I vote for forcing the Chinese govt to forgive the US of all it's debt after ridiculing their own Chinese doctor that was desperately trying to warn everyone about the outbreak before he also succumbed to the virus.

NY

Gov Cuomo:

Words are important, say what you mean and don't say what may alarm people

Level of alarm in country, esp NYC is more than I have ever seen

There is no quarantine planned for NYC (Contain the virus)

National Guard is for Food Delivery and Cleaning Surfaces

Modified Shelter in Place

Being asked about SF's Shelter in Place - Language matters

Quarantine & Shelter In Place are scary words - Words matter

My Dad had two lots of visitors this morning - neighbours checking in and offering to get him anything he needs.
Even his teeny-tiny village is having panic-buying and punch-ups in stores - one of his neighbours told my Dad a cashier had been reduced to tears this morning by some vile person annoyed they weren’t allowed to buy up the complete stock of TP.
Even at this early stage, people are showing their true colours - happily, kindness seems to be overriding the mean-spiritedness of some.

Plenty of people's beauty routines are going to be disrupted!

My grandma use to say that the most beautiful person is the person who is useful. In whatever capacity you have, be useful. Then, you're beautiful.

This crisis is really bringing back SO MANY family stories, advice, examples from my elders. I feel stronger because of those stories - so thankful for them.

Hand-wringing, giving up, excuse-making, and panic were never part of the stories, and I'm grateful for that too. (Though there are plenty of heartbreaking stories in the family lore.)
