Colorado Coronavirus Updates: What You Need To Know This Weekend

“4:53 p.m. — You've earned this break

Steve Martin is offering this Moment of Zen today. Close your eyes, turn up the volume and give yourself a break from the news for a minute and 19 seconds.

4:30 p.m. — More positive tests and a fifth death as state asks residents to avoid calling 911 for coronavirus information
Colorado reported another 112 positive tests for COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.“

Expect the numbers to go up in the near future. The virus takes 5 days or more to show symptoms. Add two or three days for symptoms to get serious enough for people to get tested and a couple days more for the results to be included in the state statistics. The new cases being counted now are people that caught the disease about 10 days ago.

Colorado only got serious about this virus last Tuesday. If those actions slowed down the spread we may see the new cases start to slow down next weekend.

I'm sure it feels shocking, but government officials have closed religious gatherings all over the world. I'll be attending church tomorrow, in my p.j.s from the comfort of my easy chair ... or maybe even in bed. :)
BBM. The U.S. isn't the rest of the world. If you don't want to go to church, don't go. That's the entire point. Churches make decisions affecting their practices, not the U.S. government and I doubt that will change any time soon.

Sadly, an animal shelter near me is seeing a huge uptick in dogs being dropped by people uncertain they can feed them much longer. The spokesperson asked everyone to reconsider & spoke to the benefit of having an animal, winding up with “they were here for us, shouldn’t we be here for them” (paraphrased). I was afraid this would happen & we are only in week one.

I have been making extra donations to the animal shelters that I support. I hate people that treat pets as disposable objects. I know that some people are so strapped for money that it comes down to feeding their kids or feeding their pets. My pets bring me such peace and joy .

Are any states proactively completely reserving motels near hospitals for less severe patients? Any states proactively just asking for medical supply donations? Local hospitals? Before it gets bad? Jmo

I think it's a huge flaw in every governments' plan - they tell international travellers and people who are sick to isolate and quarantine at home. That's ludicrous. No way will I let someone with those circumstances come home, yet there is no where for them to stay.

Hotels needs to brought on board to make floors available for self-isolators and people in quarantine (without health services). There's no where for them to go right now.

The "We will get thru this" is getting old. Yes for those who survive.
Our Governor prefaces his PC with so much nonsense, people aren’t watching. Imo he needs to state the important stuff at the top of the presser, not show us photos of kids coloring or someone petting their dog. Both are nice but not newsworthy during a crisis, moo.

Massachusetts
Mass. Gov. Charlie Baker says coronavirus testing has more than doubled in past 2 days
The number of coronavirus tests conducted in a day in Massachusetts more than doubled within 48 hours, Gov. Charlie Baker announced at a press conference this week.
the governor also announced that state officials are collaborating with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers about how it can support the commonwealth in the midst of the public health crisis.
Authorities identified facilities that can be converted or modified to provide additional medical capacity as the pandemic ramps up, according to Baker.

Anyone thinking some sort hazard bonus of is in order for our essential workers (once this all blows over)? Or even now? Thanks and good thoughts to all of them.

You dont get it.....there may not be people left in that church after this is over including the spread of the disease from a church environment. People will die....separation of church and state is worthless when people are dead.
This example from South Korea should be enough to stop this from happening.....but no, Americans believe it won't happen to them...this is pure madness.

S Korea sect leader apologises for virus spread
Henry, I couldn’t agree more.

Oh no. How is he feeling? Bronch’ causes fatigue and so many symptoms in common with Covid. Best of luck to him.
Congressman Diaz said he started off with horrible headache, furthering my belief I already had my bout with Covid. After suffering with allergies my entire life, I know my headaches. The headaches I experienced in January were not explainable.

3 days ago - Representative Mario Diaz-Balart has tested positive for coronavirus, making him the first US Congress ... The Florida Republican first began to show symptoms on Saturday evening, suffering from a fever and headache.

He's completely wiped out, sleeping day and night. The phrase my son used was "never been so sick in my life." That was a 4 weeks ago, but he's still sick. Maybe he's recovered and has after effects, I don't know.

Let's show our gratitude to our everyday heroes.
They’re stepping up for all of us. So when you see them, thank them. I’ll start.

-Public transit worker
-Childcare worker
And so many more.

I might see if they have one I can bring home. Or two.....lol.
Why can’t Purina step up & offer food? Oh, I know why, people would misuse their gratuity & bootleg the pet food.
At least grass is growing, I fear for grazing animals.....horses & cattle never stop eating and are hugely expensive to feed.

I'm seeing young people taking walks through the neighborhood wearing masks and toques (everything but eyes are covered). That's a good sign.
