"We are telling you, unless you have an essential reason to leave your house, you should stay home."

"
Maryland is not just going to rely on or wait for action from the federal government" Hogan says after listing all the federal officials he's reached out for supplies and help for an economic stimulus.

If Japan goes along with the Summer Olympics as they state, I predict we will have a "second wind" pandemic of horrible proportions in about late August.

As it is now, we may get over this horrible first phase by mid-summer and have some time to re-group for a resurgence during the winter months, starting in about November.

A second wave in August because of the travel and mixing of populations would exceed our capacity to rest our dangerously overworked caregivers and restock PPE.

Not only that, but the world economy will just not be up to using disposable income for travel and accommodations.

I can't understand why Prime Minister Abe is being so unreasonable

With all the air space restrictions, martial law in some places and very few planes, how will people get there anyway??

He's just trying to 'save face' but people will not be going to Japan for the Olympics, this will be deferred or cancelled shortly.

China was able to push massive resources into Wuhan. We won’t have same ability, as we’re likely to have multiple Wuhans to contend with, burning simultaneously. This will get worse before it gets better. We need strategy for its resolution, but can’t lose our fortitude early.

Supermacs, Starbucks, Subway and Krispy Kreme all to close their doors

(Ireland)

Supermacs, Starbucks, Subway and Krispy Kreme all to close their doors

SUPERMACS HAS SAID that it will close all of its seating areas this evening, with all stores then set to be closed by 7pm on Thursday as it becomes the latest outlet to take such measures in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Last night, McDonald’s said all its Irish locations would close this evening with the likes of Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and Subway also saying it would close its outlets today.

The government hasn’t strictly told these places to close but has repeatedly emphasised the importance of social distancing in combatting the spread of coronavirus.

However, many businesses have made their own calls to shut their doors in the interests of staff and public safety.

Earlier today, the Taoiseach expressed concern about reports of large numbers of people in public spaces over the weekend.

This weekend, large crowds were seen in public parks and other areas around the country, including Howth in Dublin.

The Dublin Fire Brigade issued a warning to people on Twitter about “worrying scenes” in Howth yesterday.

Today, Beschoff Bros said it would be closing its stores – including its Howth site – until further notice but that people could still order from it online.

“We hope that everyone stays safe and healthy and we hope to open our doors to you all very soon,” it said.

In its statement, Supermacs said that it had made the decision to close “due to the ever changing challenges presented by the health crisis”.

It said: “All outlets will be closed by Thursday 26 March at 7pm. This is to allow the emergency services that are using the outlets for food to make alternative arrangements. All seating areas in our lobbies will close tonight and remain closed.

When people say that the case fatality rate of Covid is less than the 1918 Flu... are they being fair? Did they have ICU and vents in 1918? What would the case fatality rate of Covid-19 be if we only had 1918 technology?

'Travelling to Scotland's hills stops now'

Scottish Mountain Rescue has appealed to people not to visit Scotland's hills and mountains during the coronavirus outbreak.

The plea follows government concerns about people travelling from across the UK to the Highlands and Islands.

Skye, Braemar and Lomond were among volunteer teams on call-outs over the weekend.

Glencoe MRT has said it will only respond immediately to serious incidents.

Lochaber MRT has also warned that "normal service" can not be guaranteed and said the "best thing" people could do was stay at home.

'Social responsibilities'
The Scottish Avalanche Information Service said "now was the time to avoid unnecessary mountain activities and consider our social responsibilities".

The warnings come amid efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Scottish Mountain Rescue, which represents more than 20 Scottish rescue teams, said: "All travelling to the hills stops now for all of us.

"There will be plenty of help needed in your communities in coming weeks and we need to look after ours."
