Reuters: EMERGENCY DECREE WILL BE DECLARED ON THURSDAY 26 MARCH - THAI PRIME MINISTER

BANGKOK, March 24 (Reuters) - Thailand will be in an emergency mode from March 26 for a month to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha told a news conference on Tuesday.

Reuters: The emergency decree will mean the prime minister will have the executive power to declare further measures to contain the virus, including giving extra authority to officials and allowing the setting up of checkpoints to reduce people movements, Prayuth said.

DAVID JOLLY.....FORMER MEMBER OF CONGRESS, FL
I AGREE....KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

I don't particularly care nor trust what politicians tonight think about returning to normal.
Globally, 4 out of 100 who contract COVID-19 die.
In the US, 1 out of 100.
And that's based on limited testing.
Do what's right for your family. For ours, it's isolation.

US HAS OUTRUN THIS 2.5 TIMES SOON TO BE 3.0

Update: Italy just reported 4,789 new cases
& 601 new deaths. Both figures lower than yesterday (5560 new cases, 651 deaths). Grim stats are good news; appears that infection rate is truly slowing. U.S. projects 10-12 days behind Italy IF widespread lockdown is fully implemented.

A cruise ship with 42 sick people aboard is heading to Florida and is expected to dock next week. No testing for coronavirus is available on the ship, according to a statement from the cruise line. A cruise ship with 42 people experiencing flu-like symptoms is headed to Florida

I seem to CLEARLY remember that Trump met with heads of cruise ships and they were to have a plan that would demand changes, including airlifting samples if needed to be done. Whatever happened to that? Bloviation without anything done afterwards?

OHIO.....A VOICE OF REASON

We don't want to keep these orders on one second more than we have to. I'm very much aware of how much suffering is going on right now, people who have lost their jobs. I do not take that lightly. It weighs on me, but we have to protect life.

'Tremendously dangerous': In Iran, conspiracy theories and religious bickering slow COVID-19 response
As of Monday, more than 1,800 Iranians had died from COVID-19
''When the COVID-19 outbreak first appeared in Iran on Feb. 19, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei proclaimed it a hoax, a conspiracy from the country's enemies.

There were reports the regime tried to cover up the number of fatalities, until cellphone videos appeared that showed bodies being hurriedly buried in a graveyard in the northern city of Qom by workers wearing masks and hazmat suits.

When President Hassan Rouhani finally acknowledged the outbreak on Feb. 26, he said it did not warrant a mass quarantine.

Iranian-American journalist Borzou Daragahi, who covers Iran for the Independent in the U.K., said the regime flips back and forth between two explanations for the outbreak.

"One is it was propaganda … to besmirch Iran and China. And the other is that it's some sort of bio-weapon, and you hear that from loonies on all sides around the world, including in Iran."

Californians using T-shirts in place of toilet paper, leading to sewer blockages
''Northern Californians are going to extreme measures amidst a growing shortage of toilet paper.

Some residents are cutting up T-shirts to use as toilet paper and then flushing the scraps down into the sewer system causing mass blockages, the Daily Mail reported.

A public warning was issued to the residents of Redding, Calif., not to flush anything down the toilet other than toilet paper because doing so can lead to problematic blockages that result in fecal matter backing up into people’s showers, toilets, and sinks.

A crew was dispatched to deal with a sewer blockage that resulted from a cut-up T-shirt that had been flushed down the toilet Wednesday, Redding Searchlight reported.''

You shouldn't even flash paper towels let alone t-shirts.

And now there is a shortage of the proper size of elastic that we need to make the masks. We can make ties instead, but that takes longer.
Some people are using the thin elastic hair bands instead of sewing elastic. The hair bands can be cut in half.
