All non-essential businesses are supposed to be closed here in Maryland (now if we were in Texas or something, it might make sense?!?)

Justin Trudeau's father was French Canadian, he was the Prime Minister of Canada when Justin was born. His mother is English Canadian. Pierre Eliott Trudeau (PET) was Prime Minister of Canada when I was a senior in high school and lived in Montreal. So I assume Justin Trudeau had a bilingual upbringing. MOO.

Georgia Woman Dies of Coronavirus After Being Turned | Valdosta Today

The death of a 65-year-old Dekalb County courthouse clerk left an Atlanta family heartbroken. Rushia Johnson Stephens suddenly collapsed and was rushed to hospital where she later died.

Stephens was reportedly very active and had no underlying health conditions. She was turned away from the hospital before her symptoms started to worsen. An autopsy confirmed that she did, in fact, have COVID-19. Her brother warns others to take the virus seriously.

Its hard to seize equipment or supplies, when your supplies are not warehouses in the US. This is why he's not used the DA with 3M. 3m makes and warehouses about 40k mask in the US operation. They make millions overseas. We cant touch that inventory under the DA.

I knew Ford was blowing smoke from the get go.
Really any company starting up with ventilators it will take at least 2 to 3 months. First they have to invent, test, fast track with FDA, these are LIFE support under the strictest FDA guidelines, then acquire supplies, train employees and retrofit manufacturing equipment, develops a QA process. It AIN'T happening in less than 3 months.
.... ETA...In 40years I've NEVER seen a ventilator make it thru the FDA in less than 18 months, best case, most are 2 years. FDA will take it apart and test/ inspect very nut, bolt, motor, valve, light, bell and whistle. YEAP

Elon Musk has the most sensible idea, he purchased USED vents on the open market, refurbished and tbey were ready to go in days!!!

GE does have a US plant that makes a small amount of vents, again but major operations overseas.

FRANCE

Officials in the Paris area have been scrambling to find more intensive care beds, ventilators and medical staff and spread the load of patients across the capital and its wider suburbs.

France has already increased the number of intensive care units from 5,000 to about 8,000, but doctors say Paris is already at its limit after almost doubling its capacity to about 1,200.

"We will clearly need help in the Ile-de-France (Greater Paris region) because what happened in the east is coming here," Frederic Valletoux, French Hospital Federation president, told BFM TV on Friday.

He was referring to the Grand Est region, where the first major cluster took hold in France and where hospitals are already overwhelmed.

"We will be at the limit of our capacities in 24 or 48 hours. We will need to show real solidarity between regions, hospitals and increase the numbers of patient transfers," he said.

The army has been drafted to transfer some critically ill patients to other cities from the east, while on Thursday the first patients were moved to western France from the east using high-speed TGV trains.

Condom shortage looms after lockdown shuts world’s top producer

Malaysia’s Karex Bhd makes one in every five condoms globally. It has not produced a single condom from its three Malaysian factories in the past 10 days due to a lockdown imposed by the government to halt the spread of the virus.

I don't think I would have said this in the past, but we desperately need the military to manage this 'war'. We need command and control, we need "war games" to be predicting, and we need enforcement. It was so painful to hear Bill Gates last night on all the woulda shoulda stuff our country should have been doing for years.

I’m not, no. Lol I texted my neighbor to advise her her thief was headed home with bread, an entire loaf, she said she has plenty if I need some. At least his loot has little monetary value, unlike other items he’s snatched.
I honestly can’t tolerate the stores. Despite warning, aisles are clogged with family units. I walk fast on a slow day, now I’m like a gazelle, I could hurt someone that abruptly stops in front of me.
And Duh duh duh a friend that lives in a subdivision was in her basement, working from home. She kept hearing thud thud thud. She walked out her basement door, headed out front, her neighbor was hosting a yard sale & the street was filled with cars, the yard filled with people, including kids. WTH? Yes, my friend called LE. We are not allowed yard sales w/o a city permit. No way the lady got one. Again, what part of this do people not get? Do you know? If so, please help me understand, cuz I find myself getting overly pissed.

I have to admit, first i did have to giggle a bit!

A Michigan health system has acknowledged it's preparing for hard life-and-death decisions after a hospital letter was circulated online detailing who would be able to receive life-saving resources during the coronavirus pandemic if there's not enough equipment.

A spokesman for the Henry Ford Health System told CNN the "letter is part of a larger policy document developed for an absolute worst-case scenario."

"It is not an active policy within Henry Ford, but it is part of our emergency response planning," the spokesman said.

The letter has not been shared with patients, but aims to explain that the coronavirus pandemic has made some medical supplies hard to find.

"Because of shortages, we will need to be careful with resources," reads the letter, which is addressed to patients, families and the community. "Patients who have the best chance of getting better are our first priority."

"Patients who are treated with a ventilator or ICU care may have these treatments stopped," it says, "if they do not improve over time."

The letter goes on to say patients with severe heart, lung, kidney or liver failure, severe trauma or burns, or terminal cancers may be ineligible for a ventilator or ICU care. These patients will instead receive "pain control and comfort measures."

"This decision will be based on medical condition and likelihood of getting better," the letter says.
