School closures extended for another 2 weeks in New York state

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that schools across the state will close for at least another two weeks, extending closures that were in effect until April 1.

"I don't do this joyfully but I think when you look at where we are ... it only makes sense to keep the schools closed," Cuomo said.

Officials will reassess the need for possible continued closures following the new two-week period.

New York City schools are closed to students until at least April 20.

Health Insurance after company closes or let go from job......
Lost my job two weeks ago. Was lucky to get 30 days of health insurance for 30 days.

What the heck are people supposed to do after the 30 days are up? COBRA is expensive and how do you afford it if you’re out of work.

I’ve applied to get on my spouse’s insurance plan but have to get bloodwork and labs done.

How many people in the US have health insurance through their employee?

(Think I read it was around 51%)?

CT - Doctor Coughs on Co-Workers on Purpose.....

UConn Health doctor arrested after he coughed on co-workers on purpose, spokeswomen say

Quotes from article:

A UConn Health doctor has been arrested after an incident in which police say he intentionally coughed on medical staff.

UConn police charged Dr. Cory Edgar with breach of peace Thursday morning, according to university spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz. Edgar is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the UConn Musculoskeletal Institute.

Witnesses told police the physician “intentionally coughed on two other medical employees at the health center in close proximity,” she said, “and that the witnesses and medical workers believed he was purposely disregarding space and safety concerns involving the Coronavirus pandemic.”

Police responded shortly before 10 a.m., Reitz said and Edgar was issued the misdemeanor summons.

UConn Health is conducting an administrative review of the incident, according to UConn Health spokeswoman Jennifer Walker.

WTH?

It's always encouraging to hear when people have recovered.

"As of Friday, March 27, Knox County is reporting 30 positive cases so far, with 11 listed as recovered, meaning they have been released from isolation.

Sixteen women and 14 men have tested positive. Three children under 10 have been diagnosed, and there are three between the ages of 11 and 20. Four people in their twenties and six in their thirties have been diagnosed. Between the ages of 41-50, there are three cases and for cases between the ages of 51 and 60. There are four cases of people in their sixties and two in their seventies. There's one case of someone older than 91."

I wondered the same thing. Isn't there some kind of plan for insurers to not cut the coverage when this happens. I keep asking the tv during the daily briefs, and no one but me seems to be asking.

More than 160 Boston hospital workers test positive for coronavirus - The Boston Globe

More than 160 Boston hospital workers test positive for coronavirus

At Mass. General, 41 employees have contracted the virus, hospital officials said. ERIN CLARK/GLOBE STAFF
Major hospitals in Boston are seeing a steep rise in the number of infected workers, a doubling to more than 160 in the past two days, which officials believe may be more attributable to community spread than contact with infected patients.

How overwhelmed could New England hospitals become? Explore maps of different scenarios

At Massachusetts General Hospital, 41 members of the staff have tested positive for COVID-19, a quadrupling from earlier in the week, and at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 51 employees have been infected, up from 33 two days ago.

At Tufts Medical Center, the number of staff who have the virus has increased from 29 to 52 workers since Tuesday, and at Boston Medical Center, 22 have tested positive, more than tripling since earlier this week.

Well, I sanitized my loaf of bread & left it on my covered porch coffee table. I just heard an odd sound so I rushed out to see what the heck was going on. I got out just in time to see the neighborhood thief (large German shop’) trotting away with my bread. My fault.

I have to admit, first i did have to giggle a bit!
But then, are you going to try shopping again?

The next door neighbor catered BBQ. He left a smoked Turkey open, in the back of his van. Doors wide open too.
German Shepherd in the neighborhood had quite a feast.
My neighbor was screwed! No way to smoke another one before the party.
Life lessons!

"As usual with “this” General Motors, things just never seem to work out. They said they were going to give us 40,000 much needed Ventilators, “very quickly”. Now they are saying it will only be 6000, in late April, and they want top dollar. Always a mess with Mary B. Invoke “P”.

I know, and he is far more educated than I. I speak no French. Just going for some levity, since translator seemed to have the giggles. I apologize!
