GOV CUOMO

The temporary hospital in the Javits Center will fully open on MONDAY.
I congratulate FEMA and the Army Corps of Engineers for their work at Javits. I thank the Javits staff. I thank the National Guard.
You built a hospital in a week.
You are the best of us.

Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri
The station encourages fast food lovers in its Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri listening area to consider paying for the order of the car behind them when going through a drive-through to "pay it forward."

Today, the station puts a spin on the concept in response to struggles induced by the spread of the coronavirus. For those who want to help during this time but are limited by social distancing guidelines, KLRC invites the community to participate in Delivery Difference Day.

Delivery Difference Day encourages people to call a local restaurant and arrange to send a meal to someone they know working harder and longer hours due to the outbreak -- medical professionals, retail store associates, first responders -- anyone who is working diligently to ensure supplies and care are maintained during this stressful time.

The hope is that Delivery Difference Day will brighten someone's day and encourage those on the front lines, while also supporting local restaurants.

"One of our core values at KLRC is to care for our community," Sean Sawatzky, KLRC general manager, said in a press release Wednesday. "We've been entrusted with a great platform and megaphone to promote ways that we come together during these difficult days. Our plan is to communicate new ideas each Friday to encourage a different segment of the population in positive ways."

Those who participate in Delivery Difference Day can share their story on the KLRC mobile app, call 800-909-KLRC, send KLRC a message on Facebook, or email via the contact page on klrc.com. The station shares these helpful tips for serving others through the initiative:

• Choose a friend or family you know who could use some encouragement or who is working for the benefit of others.

• Pick out a local business to support that is offering delivery or curbside pickup services.

• Today, place an order for a meal and have it delivered directly (don't forget a tip for the delivery driver) or pick it up and deliver to the home porch or workplace.

• Finally, in the notes on the order, leave a quick note sharing that you're participating in Delivery Difference Day and let them know they are appreciated.

I call this type of behavior "Feel Good Follies". I can't help but feel that in an attempt to boost morale, they are more likely to boost infections. IMO, MOO

I think I need to update my will. Let me think, where will my TP & frozen foods end up?

Staff in protective equipment prepare to test people at a drive-through COVID-19 testing site at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., Tuesday, March 24, 2020.Seth Wenig/AP

“New Jersey saw its largest, by far, single-day increase in coronavirus cases Thursday, adding another 2,492 positive test results to bring the total to 6,876 with 81 known deaths.

The United States now has more COVID-19 cases than any country in the world, with 85,996.”

Wow just wow. To have watched this journey from the beginning and to finally arrive here, is, a “grim milestone”, as Doc T would call it. MOO

Yeah, I agree. At the drive in, one might get more than he ordered. Same with delivery, noone knows what might be delivered.
If a friend sends me take out, I’m going to assume he expects to inherit my TP or horse & is coyly attempting to kill me.

ILLINOIS

We just received an emergency overnight package of #COVID testing supplies from China. Every bit of empty space in the package was stuffed with PPE for us
This is a global problem and working together is the only way we are going make it. Thank you to my Chinese counterparts

And to my favorite nephew, I leave my two rolls of toilet paper.

Congratulations to Boris on being the leader of the herd! We rarely see a leader have to deal with physical consequences of their negligence.

Especially, when he made a joke about stepping up production of ventilators, calling it Operation Last Gasp!

I think we just have to strike a (delicate) balance. Some are at more obvious risk than others. Of course, many of us who think we are healthy have underlying conditions that could cause problems. But a lot of people are just trying to help their neighbors stay afloat while trying to reduce the chances of infection. We do have to remember that there is a future out there, and we will have to live in it again at some point :) Just wipe that stuff down, folks. And tip well. JMO.

Behind the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 in Denver
Updated: Mar 26, 2020 / 10:41 PM MDT

video and more at link:

“DENVER (KDVR) -- Doctors inside the intensive care unit at Denver Health Medical Center are sharing their experiences treating COVID-19 patients.

The hospital's intensive care unit houses 24 patients, some of whom have the coronavirus and are fighting for their lives. As of Thursday afternoon, Colorado had at least 1,430 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 184 patients hospitalized because of it. Some of the most critical are at Denver Health.

"It's very sad to say, people I have right now are on a life support machine in the ICU," said Dr. Ivor Douglas, a pulmonary sciences and critical care expert who is also the intensive care director. "That wasn’t the pattern last week. Half of them were on life support. As a consequence, every single one of them has life-threatening organ failures."”
It's really sad, these doctors try so hard to save them!

CHINA.....SECOND WAVE

China’s long lockdown in Wuhan may have bought the country months of time before a feared second wave of coronavirus cases peaks, according to a study with implications for how long other nations may have to maintain similar restrictions.

Reopening schools and businesses in April might push back the highest point of a second wave to October, giving health systems more time to prepare, researchers said in a study published in Lancet Public Health. Lifting the measures just a month earlier, in March, might have resulted in a wave of infections cresting in late August, the researchers found.

Michigan
A letter from the Detroit hospital network circulating online states “patients who have the best chance of getting better” will be first in line to access the breathing equipment. Henry Ford spokesperson Vicky Lorencen said a finalized policy, which is not currently in use, provides guidance to healthcare workers who may make difficult patient care decisions in a “worst-case scenario.”

“We’re working very closely with our hospital CEOs, and our Regional Health Care Coalition to understand their needs and to start having those conversations. But as of right now, we are not telling front-line doctors how to care for their patients,” Khaldun said.

Well, who knows, he might end up needing one. Covid might start off with mild symptoms, then some people recover and some end up needing a ventilator.

Random reflection:

I’m noticing myself having some anxious thoughts re: food and supplies, like “I don’t have any milk, I don’t have this or that...”

Well I’m countering these thoughts to immediately focus on what I DO have.
