Scary news, my hubs came home and his right hand man at the office just tested positive for CV. They've shut down the facility and hubs has been ordered to self quarantine for 14 days. Guess I'm on quarantine too.

Trying to get him tested is an absolute nightmare. :(

I so sorry. But most states are only testing if you show symptoms and other states are testing only with a doctors notes and then it’s up to you to find a testing site in your state.

But what about all of the recent patients who claim it saved their lives? I have seen a dozen interviews with people, who seem credible.

I tend to believe them when they say it helped them survive. Why would they lie?
I don't think they would lie but maybe it had a placebo effect...moo

They aren't lying - they believe that's what helped them. But they need to know a few other things before stating their situation as fact. Many many people are getting better with no Rx drugs at all. Many are remaining at home, unstudied, undoctored - and getting well.

So...would each of these people (who took the drug) have gotten better on their own? How would they know this? They cannot run an experiment and we have no control groups (nor would it be humane to have control groups right now).
BBM. I disagree. I don't believe anyone in any ICU--suffering from Covid-19-- is getting better "with no Rx drugs at all". I think all kinds of Rx medication is in those ICU IVs and is the reason they are in the ICU. The malaria drug is also approved for other uses and it is available now. From a humanitarian standpoint, it makes no sense to withhold any drug from any seriously ill patient who might benefit from it. If their doctor thinks they should receive it, then that is all the matters to me.
I'm not qualified to second-guess the care patients are receiving.

ITA because they have no reason to lie.

Trump now says he may decide not to invoke the Defense Production Act for General Motors

President Trump said Friday that he may not invoke the Defense Production Act after saying earlier today that he had activated it to order General Motors to make ventilators.

Trump said during a White House coronavirus press briefing that he believed a deal had been reached between GM and the federal government to produce the ventilators, but the deal had fallen through.

He says he decided to use the powers in the DPA to order GM to produce the needed medical equipment saying, “This invocation of the DPA should demonstrate clearly to all that we'll not hesitate to use the full authority of the federal government to combat this crisis.”

“We thought that we had a deal with as an example General Motors and I guess they thought otherwise. They didn't agree, and now they do. They do agree and I think we might be able to pull it. We let them know the way we felt. They can't be doing that," Trump said.

You are right. I should have never posted it because at the press conference he changed his tune.
Sad to say and unfortunate but I get my news from more reliable sources...just saying

girlhasnoname - where are you located? My husband's 17 year old granddaughter has a bad cough and has been running a 100+ temperature. Her mom is a nurse and is trying to get her tested, but has been turned away. They're in Rhode Island. Up until just a couple weeks ago, the 17 y/o was working in a popular restaurant.

There's a shipping charge but Honeyville has a lot of food and baking products.

Which source would that be?
Honestly NPR, PBS other Countrys....sad All news you have to take with a grain of salt and look at source and motivation but there is so much division in this country, just my opinion

It has some pretty nasty side effects from what I've read and patients have told me.
If the drug is approved for other conditions, the side effects must not be all that bad compared to death. The point of the clinical trials is to learn about side effects, the severity of side effects and to better determine dosage.

I'm not ready to give up on these drugs yet. Way too early to conclude they have no value in treating covid-19. JMO
