I sympathize with people who've lost their jobs in time like this, I promise I do! I've been there! But as Trudie says, landlords owe mortgages and have to pay employees, cleaning crews, etc. too. All the talk about when rents are due April 1--this should not be a problem. My husband does property mgt...you have 90 days (3 months) before eviction can take place. Take into consideration, courts are not open for evictions and non-emergencies right now. If people are not currently behind on rent, their landlords should have no problem waiting until stimulus payments arrive and people can pay. Rent and food have to come first. People need to consider suspending cable, updating cell phones, new clothes/shoes, extras right now ... we all have to make sacrifices.
I do understand some landlords are jerks and will still try to charge daily late fees and idiotic things like that at a time like this
