I sympathize with people who've lost their jobs in time like this, I promise I do! I've been there! But as Trudie says, landlords owe mortgages and have to pay employees, cleaning crews, etc. too. All the talk about when rents are due April 1--this should not be a problem. My husband does property mgt...you have 90 days (3 months) before eviction can take place. Take into consideration, courts are not open for evictions and non-emergencies right now. If people are not currently behind on rent, their landlords should have no problem waiting until stimulus payments arrive and people can pay. Rent and food have to come first. People need to consider suspending cable, updating cell phones, new clothes/shoes, extras right now ... we all have to make sacrifices.

I do understand some landlords are jerks and will still try to charge daily late fees and idiotic things like that at a time like this :(

Our gov mentioned a few churches held Sunday service today. Like he says, we can’t enforce social distancing, only encourage it.
Don’t know but I reported them twice to a LA. State Senator.

My friend pays $7200 a month for insurance alone. He needs 80% paying occupancy per month to break even.

Maybe the number of people on a cruise should be limited. 1200 people is a lot of people. Or what about the Princess Cruises’ Diamond Princess with 3700 people?

Cruise ships are a perfect set up for virus outbreaks.

Disease outbreaks on cruise ships seem to be frequent enough to put some governance on the number of people locked up together. Remember Legionnaires Disease? And Norovirus?

The cruise line industry is going to be ruined after this. How about we turn ships into prisons, and prisons into hospitals?

I’m confused what Trump’s guideline extensions actually mean. I assume we’re each still under our state guidelines and restrictions such as nonessential businesses being closed and have to wait for further direction from our state government?

Trump announces 30-day extension of coronavirus guidelines
I have no idea what it means either. Trump didn't order any distancing guidelines as far as I can tell, governors of individual states did (or in some cases didn't).

I believe that some areas are unable to test in high numbers, due to the lack of swabs available. MOO
As far as I can tell, most people can get tested only when they get to the hospital near death. Unless you are rich, famous, or a senator.

Australian cases have passed 4000

not great but but its not rising as fast as some predicted, we entered stage 3 restrictions today in my state

which means basically unless you need food, medical or work you need to be at home and most places have closed down anyways ( not my wife's work they are still making them go in, luckily she only works with 3 other ladies but still rather she be home)

Australia government says growth rate of coronavirus infection slows

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Australia's health minister said on Sunday there were "early, positive signs" of a slowdown in the growth rate in new coronavirus infections in the country, with the growth rate approximately halving over the past week.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the slower growth in new inflections showed social distancing measures were working.

"This time last week the rate of increase on cases was up around 25% to 30% a day," Morrison told a press conference.

"That rate now over the last few days has fallen to about 13% - 15%.

Here they will test for strep & flu, if both are negative, a person is presumed positive for Covid & tested if conditions worsen.
I really don’t believe the numbers we get. Our Governor said 16 labs are now testing, some reporting their results to the state, but not all (go figure) & anyone visiting from elsewhere that gets tested might be counted by their state blah blah, utter confusion. Easier to get accurate info from friends. The benefit of a small town, I guess.

While I agree that passengers were reckless taking a cruise during a pandemic, I wouldn't want anyone to be trapped on a boat with the virus and die. I have made many mistakes in my life, and if my family members were on the ship, I would be so worried for them. Therefore, I believe the passengers have to get off somewhere to receive care, and hope they are quarantined. Hopefully, if this ever happens again, the cruise lines will stop cruising. MOO
This reminds me of idiots that drive thru high water when the roadways are flooded, despite warnings. Then, the FD/LE are at risk rescuing them. Moo

My dad had two four plexus that I sold for him last year. He was extremely generous to his tenants and they really abused his kindness. I had to sell the four plexus because I needed money to pay for my parents' care. I felt bad about it because I knew some of the tenants would be evicted within months but they abused my dad's kindness. I had to sell because I was spending 20k a month for my parents' care. I am so glad that I sold the apartments last year because I could not evict during these times. I would have to dig into my own money to keep the tenants a float. It is just a no win situation. I am just so glad that I don't have to worry about the apartments and the tenants during this crisis.
