The Hospital Ship Has Only Accepted 20 Patients So Far As The Navy Says It Will Only Take Non-Coronavirus Patients

There Have Now Been 1,562 Deaths In NYC

"A top New York heath executive has slammed the 'ridiculous' red-tape on the U.S.N.S Comfort as it accepts just 20 patients in the four days since it docked in New York City on Monday.

The Navy hospital ship was dispatched by President Donald Trump as a beacon of hope to the struggling city as the coronavirus outbreak in the Big Apple reached 51,809 cases and 1,562 deaths as of 5pm Thursday."

That's very scary and I hope your sister remains safe. I am outraged that this is happening to people who have signed on to care for the most vulnerable and then experience a slap in the face like this as if they are somehow responsible.

It is. Risking their lives to save others and to work. It’s unconscionable that they don’t have the protective gear that’s so necessary.

Hi :)

This reminds me, I’ve got a pet nail trim issue. Usually the little guy has to go to the vet for nail trimming and they have to take him in the back and put the muzzle on to trim his nails....I guess I’ll have to put on my Cesar hat and start training him with treats and stuff so I can trim his nails myself. He’s special needs from a shelter, I don’t know if it will go over well but all I can do is try to make it an exciting event (like the bath dance- “Wooohoo yay bath!! Doggie massage!! Good boy!”)

I also really don’t feel comfortable about trimming doggie nails. Makes me nervous. I guess if we’re going to get this ball rolling I can’t be nervous or it’ll just make him nervous. He is chewing his nails now as they’ve gotten long. Not sure if anyone here has come across this issue yet.
I've been having this issue with my Millie. She's not holding still and I'm worried I'll hurt her. She DID tolerate me filing. I used my coarsest file and she seemed ok with it. HTH

Sigh. I've wondered when (not if) this was going to happen.
This is VERY bad news.
As of February 2019, California had 108,000. Homeless. (Per the LAtimes.com/homeless-housing/story/2020-03-18/coronavirus-homeless-money-california-risk-150-million)
There is zero good news here. It is all bad.
Sorry to say.

It is super bad news. We have the nation’s homeless population in our state. And they’re still congregating. I steer as clear as possible. Due to many factors these poor people are more vulnerable than others but they also spread it more. Constant coughing, illness in general. And mental health or dependency issues can make it even harder to be able to be careful about covering their mouths or noses.

Worse, they have almost no way to keep clean and disinfect. Toilet paper? Hot water? Soap? Washing machines? Purell or bleach? Showers?

I can’t believe it hasn’t already laid waste to the population.

I don't know what to think of this. I read the article and have no words.

I don't want to derail this thread but for those who followed Gannon S. case the Affidavit is out.
