I’m not sure that a mask or scarf really changes the intent of the social distancing rules. It may be somewhat safer, but maybe rethink walking with your friend? Wearing a mask is for extra protection when doing essential things outside our homes, but does it really change the social distancing rules to make it OK to be with a friend when you walk? What if everyone does it? Rhetorical questions to consider.

Thank you Lilibet and @JaneEyre for helping to convince me to cancel the meeting with my friend. She agreed that we should be strict about social distancing and not try to do this. We will walk alone...

And thanks again to Websleuths for this thread. (heart emoji) I fervently hope and pray that we will all make it through this pandemic while we wait for effective treatments and a vaccine.

Of some 20k respondents

92% said YES, 8% said no.

Hobby Lobby is not an essential business.

Home Depot is open because construction contractors and the like are considered essential.

Gardening is booming at this time. Nurseries, greenhouses, landscape architects, garden centers and even public farmers' markets are open for business as long as they follow federal guidelines, such as limiting gatherings of people, maintaining social distancing and following other safety protocols to the fullest extent possible.

I personally think we need to find a way to safely encourage gardening. We need victory gardens right now. And it's hands down one of the best things people can do for their physical and mental health right now. Our local nursery lets you place orders online and they will deliver or you can pick up curbside.

My dad's also a contractor. And of course people still have home repair emergencies. My husband or father fix nearly everything in our homes if we get a leak or have some other problem. I can't imagine trying to shut down access to home repair items.

A coronavirus outbreak at a care home in Glasgow has left 13 residents dead in just seven days.

The virus is said to have 'swept through' the 90-bed Burlington Court care home in Glasgow, with the victims' families told their deaths may be linked to covid-19.

All 13 residents who died had underlying health issues - Burlington Court cares for OAPs as well as those with epilepsy, Huntington's and Parkinson's Disease.

A source from inside the home told The Sun: 'It's just so sad. How do you deal with something like this? The staff are doing their best to cope.'

I have wondered the same. Such a fine line... Either we are learning about something with real potential, or we are seeing yet another way that people are going to bring themselves harm! I really hope we have some horse expertise speaking out on this ivermectin...

I was in the vets once a few years ago when this woman and girl came in carrying two cats who they'd mistakenly put dog flea collars on. Both were seizing and both died. Such an easy mistake to make. So I wonder about the efficacy of this drug, too.

How many more cruise ships are still out there? The Coast Guard directed ships to go to the country that they are registered in, almost all of them are registered in "Bahamas". Bahamian government refused to allow the ships to dock.

Nobody I see is wearing masks here in Scotland. Unfortunately I had to go to the supermarket yesterday as my Dad hasn’t been feeling great (thankfully he doesn’t have the virus) I was getting weird looks wearing my mask but I couldn’t care less. At least people were staying away from me.

That's one good thing, that people steer clear of you. I went to my favorite but very tiny corner store a few minutes ago. I didn't wear even a scarf because I thought I'd be in and out in a minute. There's no room in there for customers to stand even 3' from each other. So I just stood in the door when a few other people came, and told them firmly "only one at a time". The owner looked at me funny, the people looked at me funny, but I don't care anymore.

But this afternoon I will finish my mask that I am making by hand from some 65 year old pillowcases my Grandma from Germany embroidered and tatted so long ago. Something makes me feel good about being protected by her!

That was probably quite some time ago, Trudie. It's been known for many years that collie breeds can't handle Ivermectin, probably since Ivermectin first came out in the early 1980s. But, human safety testing for Ivermectin has already been done.

I'm not endorsing the use of Ivermectin since more testing needs to be done, just pointing out the research.

Yes that research about collies, aussies and similar breeds is clearly understood with ivermectin. That is really good to know as well....

I understand why Home Depot is open.

I just don't understand why Home Depot is open for lawn and garden purchases. Are you sure that lawn and garden purchases from home depot are "essential"?

I mean, I can see seed and seedling purchases (maybe, as they can be mail ordered.) But... most people when I went were very interested in roses and ornamental plants.

Believe it or not it is currently hard to order seeds online. I shop multiple stores myself and am a big time veg gardener. So many places are shutting down orders for a while. I got orders in from two places nearly two weeks ago that are no longer taking orders for a while. I'm waiting till my next favorite places opens sales back up to home gardeners in a few days. My garden supplies might be more niche. For many things I'm buying bulk seeds not single packets.

But it's crazy. I found one of the places I like still open yesterday. They are almost sold out of everything while remaining open. The seed packets in many items are gone. You have to spend like $20 and buy bulk of one item. Some of the supply stores for fertilizers are closed too. I have never in my life run into this kind of demand for seed. Not Y2k not 2008 financial crisis. And I've been gardening yearly for about 30 years.

Two years ago I weighed produce daily and was able to grow nearly a ton of food for my family. I expect we'll exceed that this year. But I'm buying ahead seed for next year as well. I save seed with some plants but with others I use hybrids and can't save seed. I'm hoping to have enough for next year as well so I'm not having to fight off the crowds. I wonder how many people are buying seed that will never even get around to planting it?

A ton of friends in my FB feed are suddenly gardening this year. If I'm a seed hoarder, to be fair, I was a seed hoarder before this. But I do actually use my garden seed. I have at least a quarter of an acre in cultivation.
