I guess we all know we are going to have Family/Friends who get infected. As long as they recover that is where we remain hopeful.

Unfortunately, my BIL was tested a few days ago. We just found out he is positive.

ROFLMAO or Caesar(ian).
I think it is cruel to name a child after an evil virus. Who needs a daily reminder of this virus for the rest of ones life? This child can't get away from the name anywhere they go. Wish people would think! Maybe a name with a meaning of strength and so forth is better? My opinion

I just talked to my Sister in Michigan. Her Son, my Nephew has the virus. At this point mild. He was the only of her 4 Children who returned to Canada years ago. He is in Toronto. Wife and 2 kids.
Oh, no!

Dr. Fauci says it's 'mind-boggling' that any of China's wet markets are still operating

White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci said on Friday that all of China's wet markets should be shut down immediately in light of the pandemic ravaging much of the world.

“It boggles my mind how, when we have so many diseases that emanate out of that unusual human-animal interface, that we just don't shut it down,” Fauci told “Fox & Friends.”

“I don’t know what else has to happen to get us to appreciate that,” Fauci said.

Fauci said that other countries should speak out against any unsanitary selling of wildlife.

“In other countries in which this is commonplace, I would like to see the rest of the world really lean with a lot of pressure on those countries that have that because what we’re going through right now is a direct result of that,” he said.

China Is Reopening Its Wet Markets. That's Good

Hold the outrage. Far from being cesspits of disease, they provide clean, fresh produce.

Here's one more issue to add to the bonfire of tensions with China brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The country is reportedly reopening its wet markets....

The attraction of wet markets isn't so different from that of farmers’ markets in Western countries. In contrast to a supermarket model where multiple layers of retailers, wholesalers and logistics companies stand in between the consumer and the grower, wet markets offer a personal and direct connection between shopper, stallholder and farmer.

Consumers know the food is fresh because there's generally little refrigeration, so everything must be sold on the day. If in doubt, they can ask the stallholder what's in season and which produce is best at the moment. If they think one market looks unsanitary, they can choose to shop at another.

That helps explain how wet markets have managed to hold their own in spite of the growth of store-based retail in recent years. Supermarkets now account for about half of all grocery spending in China, up from about 36% in 1995, according to Euromonitor International. Add in convenience stores and the like and so-called modern grocery has about 68% of China's retail wallet, giving wet markets less than a third.

Believe it or not it is currently hard to order seeds online. I shop multiple stores myself and am a big time veg gardener. So many places are shutting down orders for a while. I got orders in from two places nearly two weeks ago that are no longer taking orders for a while. I'm waiting till my next favorite places opens sales back up to home gardeners in a few days. My garden supplies might be more niche. For many things I'm buying bulk seeds not single packets.

But it's crazy. I found one of the places I like still open yesterday. They are almost sold out of everything while remaining open. The seed packets in many items are gone. You have to spend like $20 and buy bulk of one item. Some of the supply stores for fertilizers are closed too. I have never in my life run into this kind of demand for seed. Not Y2k not 2008 financial crisis. And I've been gardening yearly for about 30 years.

Two years ago I weighed produce daily and was able to grow nearly a ton of food for my family. I expect we'll exceed that this year. But I'm buying ahead seed for next year as well. I save seed with some plants but with others I use hybrids and can't save seed. I'm hoping to have enough for next year as well so I'm not having to fight off the crowds. I wonder how many people are buying seed that will never even get around to planting it?

A ton of friends in my FB feed are suddenly gardening this year. If I'm a seed hoarder, to be fair, I was a seed hoarder before this. ;) But I do actually use my garden seed. I have at least a quarter of an acre in cultivation.

I have a mini refrigerator, like the kind kids keep in dorm rooms, that I use just to store my garden seeds. I successfully sprouted zucchini seeds from an 11 year old packet of seeds this week. :)

First of all, I have not yet seen the origin confirmed as the wet market in Wuhan so will wait for that. I believe I read they have closed the market and banned cat and dog food trade but am not certain of that. I abhor any animal cruelty but am not a vegetarian and support our agriculture in the west. I think delving too deeply will be OT for this thread but perhaps when the aftermath and analysis begins, then could be the time to discuss. For now we have to win the battle against the virus. Blame game will come later, I am sure.

From my link:
"There are 1,898 people on the ship, including 1,020 passengers and 878 crew. Princess Cruises said in a statement Thursday that seven passengers and five crew members tested positive after the ship dropped off samples in Barbados on March 31.
----------------------------------
The ship began its journey on March 5 in San Antonio, Chile, and Kilbane said passengers haven’t been allowed on land since March 13."
----------------------------------
The ship itself apparently landed at Barbados on March 31, whether or not people got off, I don't know.
This appears to be their itinerary, if it is correct they would have been in Port Stanley, Falklands, on March 13, and then came up via the Atlantic, not needing to cross the Panama Canal. Other sites say The Coral Princess is supposed to go to Alaska in July, usually they land in Seward and take their passengers on closely packed buses and trains up to stay in closely packed hotels in Anchorage and Denali National Park, with many stops along the way to buy doodads like moose nugget earrings. Then they take all that closely packed transportation back to the port. I wish they would stay away. IMO.
Coral Princess - Itinerary Schedule, Current Position | CruiseMapper

ETA I bet they didn't test asymptomatic people in Barbados.

I know someone on this ship. She had been in Chile for several days before she boarded on 5th March. At that point there were no travel restrictions. She was supposed to disembark in Buenos Aires for few days on land before flying home to the UK, but has been stuck on board an extra 2 weeks. They were told they'd be docking in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of days and would be taken direct from ship to airport to be flown back to their respective countries. Wondering if they're doing that from Miami instead of Fort L. Fingers crossed she can get off and get home.

(and no, I'm not sure I would have boarded in the first place, but I understand why she did)

Sanjay Gupta addressed the 14 day question during last town hall. I think maybe some clusters we see out are in the safe zone, I hope, at least, since most are with children. I have contacts I’m not concerned about being around, they’ve been isolated from anyone not isolated.
CNN.com - Transcripts
KAREN RATHMAN, RETIRED: After 14 days two families stayed apart and self-quarantined by family at home for the entire 14 days. No member of either family shows signs of having the coronavirus. Is it safe for the two families to be together now in one home rather than continuing to be separated?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

COOPER: Sanjay, what do you think?

GUPTA: That's like one of those A.A.T. questions. You have 14 days, two families.

COOPER: Traveling 14 miles at 12 miles an hour.

GUPTA: Yes, you know, so here's how I would answer that. I'm curious if Leana would agree with me. Fourteen days comes up because that's sort of the time between when you've been exposed and when you might develop symptoms. It's not a perfect number because, Anderson, as you and I know, we interviewed somebody who had the virus in their system longer than that.

But 14 days is a good number. If they haven't had any symptoms yet, they should be pretty much in the clear. And I think it's OK to be back together. Maybe that will make quarantining a little bit easier for them. But every time you move around, every time you're sort of traveling and things like that, it's an added risk.

COOPER: What about people who are asymptomatic?

GUPTA: Yes, I think even with asymptomatic, this idea that if you were -- if you were going -- the virus, if it was there between the time of exposure to the time of symptoms, you would have had it in about 14 days. You shouldn't have symptoms or --

COOPER: Got it.
Daughter, SIL and grandson joined us this past Wednesday. After staying home and out of NYC (working from home ) for over 14 days, DH picked them up in Hoboken and brought them to our house. It’s an adjustment but we’re happier to have them with us. They need help with a toddler and we need to keep them “safe.”

Plus it’s grandson’s # 3 birthday next week.

It is great for horses, imo. I’m a fan.
My dog/s can’t tolerate it & before linked info was known, a friend lost several Aussie’s after his vet used Ivermectin.

Ivermectin Toxicity in Dogs

I was always pretty paranoid when I used Ivermectin to worm our horses because I had Collies and a Sheltie. These are also dogs that should avoid Ivermectin. Although they did not go into the barn or horse fields with me, accidents can happen. If any hit the ground while worming a horse, I had to carefully get it all up.

I am sorry to hear they are ill. I will keep them in my thoughts for a easy course and quick recovery.
Thank You. So far it's just my Nephew Chris who is ill. This is day 3 for him since onset. Has all the classic symptoms except high fever. Hovering at low grade so far. Face timing with his Wife and kids from the bedroom lol

Give them lots of love! I might try the 14 day clear and see a family member too. Everyone I know has been staying away from others and being cautious. I might avoid my parents and look through the window as my Dad is having cancer treatments. I call them often and help them shop. Bought birdseed for their feeder today as they are not to go in public at all. My sister found a site to order masks for the nursing home co workers, extra supplies such as gloves and hand sanitizer arrived. One of her residents visited their daughter between a glass window with a phone. Quite a bit of tears were shed.

Perfect! I know a bday party is in the works! Idk if you read the entire transcript, I think Dr. Wen was there, but didn’t add to Gupta’s answer, I assume she agrees. (Btw, per AC, Dr. Wen had a baby girl the next day.). My hairstylist is going thru a divorce and moved into her new house a few months ago. She’s alone & bored, I think on day 15 or 16 of isolation. She wants me to come stay, her house is split bedroom so I’d have an entire wing to myself.
I have yet to decide.....of course I don’t have to stay an appointed number of days. I’m torn. When I look in the mirror, I feel like I should get there stat. Lol. I have no idea what color my hair might be after an extended stay with her. I was also invited to stay at a huge thoroughbred farm in LA (Lexington area), but I have to be outside and the farm employs over 100. Many are outside switching paddocks, landscaping, biking and walking. So idk

I am from Michigan but here in Fort Myers Florida for the winter. I must give credit to Michigan for much more transparency than the Sunshine state. I believe the public must know when there are positives at a restaurant, big box store or supermarket. It is in fact imperative and how dare Florida not share this information. As you know in criminal cases they make the entire case available to the public (remember the Casey Anthony case): it is irresponsible not to let the public know when there is a positive in a public facility that we do business with.

If you are alone, it might be a good idea to have a safe buddy. As long as you are certain he/she is truthful.
Otherwise, it might get depressing. I’ve cleaned so much, there’s nothing left to sanitize, lol. I even washed clothes from my closet, just to freshen them up.
My flower seeds are planted and appx 2” already, porches & patio furniture cleaned.
I should have taken more time but I can’t function unless things are 100% orderly.
