Anyone out here who knows of an alternative solution to just breaking down the hospital doors?

we're not even allowed to go hold a sign up to his window from the parking lot - we had asked if a nurse would mind wheeling him to the window to see us - but it's not allowed 'for insurance reasons'

we are allowed to phone him but he can't hear very well (his hearing aids are at home) and we can't hear him very well because he has lost most of his voice and his throat hurts and he can hardly breathe - we still call him and talk really loud so that he can at least hear our voices - we take shifts and there's a lot of us so he gets 2/3 phonecalls a day

he told me the other day that he just wants to go home and asked me if I could get a message to someone for him but I couldn't understand what the message was or hear who he wanted me to give it to

it's just devastating to know that I will never see my Dad again and my Mom can't even say goodbye in person to her husband of 60 years

If I’m dying from coronavirus, why would I be worried about cardiovascular side effects that may or may not affect me? Let me see....Untreated FOR SURE I’ll die from corona virus bc I’m old and have pre-existing medical problems. Or treated, I MIGHT get a side effect from the life saving drug. I didn’t even have to think about the choice. I’ll take my chances, thank you very much.

Well, if you want to take a drug that could be completely useless, how is it going to help you to not die from covid?

I wonder if she thinks she'll get them back - Oregon's peak will be May 5. 133 ventilators will be needed as a conservative estimate.

It's a very kind thing to do if Oregon has 200 ventilators. To my way of thinking, Oregon's fact collecting about how many people actually have CV is lacking. But I'm conservative that way.

Oregon has been testing as rapidly as possible, but does any state have accurate info about how many have CV? I expect that Governor Brown and staff are overestimating the number pf ventilators we will need. I do believe we will have enough ventilators. Generosity begets generosity.

Probably not, but I’m quite sure that Kate Brown and her task force know exactly how many are available. This is the governor who set up a field hospital on March 20. She’s as ready as possible.

I was thinking that if someone decides to drink bleach because its been said that bleach kills the virus, should those who talk about bleach be disparaged?

Of course not.

They should be disparaged if they talk about drinking bleach. Disagree that the drug does not work all you want by saying first, it was a small trial. There are different studies with results that the drug does help. We didn’t find that to be true. However she wants to disagree. Concluding that the drug does not work is not correct.
On the other hand, it is safe to say that drinking bleach is not going to kill the virus before it kills you. All studies agree with this finding.
That’s the difference.

Poor guy. Unless he has an infectious disease like coronavirus, they have to let him go home. Even then, you could set up caregivers totally covered to protect from spreading it to family. I’m so, so sorry. Upset that I can’t help you. Livid that this is happening. Someone here has to have ideas on how to handle this without resorting to unlawful behavior.

We don't know yet if it does any good, and it can have serious side effects. It is kind of like bleach-previous numerous studies in cells show malaria drug can kill various viruses, yet it failed to be an antiviral in actual live humans because dose needed to kill viruses in actual human is just too high.

That's what is going on right now pretty much everywhere. People are not allowed to enter the hospitals or nursing homes because of fear of these people spreading covid. Not sure what do you expect local media to do? Hospitals and nursing homes are trying to prevent virus from spreading to vulnerable populations.

I am not going to stop you from taking whatever you want to take. It's bad enough that people who actually do need this drug for conditions it is known to treat can't get it right now, because it's being used for a condition it might be totally useless for.
