White House COVID-19 Coordinator: Don’t Go To Grocery Or Drug Store – Deadline

“The next two weeks are extraordinarily important,” White House coronavirusresponse coordinator Deborah Birx said Saturday at a press conference. “This is the moment to not be going to the grocery store, not going to the pharmacy, but doing everything you can to keep your family and your friends safe.””

Um, I have to go to the Costco pharmacy to pick up my prescription. I don't have enough left for 2 weeks.

Um, I have to go to the Costco pharmacy to pick up my prescription. I don't have enough left for 2 weeks.

And some people can't get a prescription fully filled for 2 months because there are medication shortages.

Interesting. Everyone go back to work. No TP. BYOTP?!
I read an interesting article that stated there are 2 kinds of toilet paper made, one for home use and one for restaurants, office buildings, etc. Different manufacturers make different kinds of toilet paper. The commercial rolls of toilet paper are the thin, one ply type, and is packaged individually wrapped. There apparently is no shortage of that type of toilet paper. The TP for home use is in short supply because most people are at home now all day and night so use toilet paper exclusively at home instead of at work, restaurants, clubs, etc.

Y’all! Ack! I was just walking la mia principessa and we were making a wide birth around an older realtor (late 60s at least, NOT saying that is old, just in the high risk group) who was showing a condo to a lady. The lady was coughing and hacking up a lung all over the realtor, I couldn’t believe it. They were only inches apart, and this lady coughed on her at least 20 times.

I was imagining all those germs scattering about like pollen. I literally started running in the opposite direction with la mia principessa and made my way home the back way, skulking behind people’s houses looking super sketchy.

So when this disease takes off on the African continent among humans, will it wipe out all the wild cats? Reminds me of the Denver mural about the extinct animals.

That's a good good question. I don't know. I hope the scientists jump in this quickly.

This would suggest intubation as he could have received oxygen via cannula at home.

ok but masks expire so how long has their supply been sitting there?
What I don't understand is, it seems the part of the mask that "expires" is the elastic straps, because they become brittle over time, I imagine similar to how rubber bands become brittle and breakable.

The fabric part I think is fine as long as it was kept clean.

So why isn't there a major movement to have people sewing new straps or ties onto these older masks?!

My shift starts soon. Two things before I go, one, keep washing your hands and maintaining social distance, and two, when people tout untested remedies, ask yourself, "Cui bono?"

One can only hope that they are wrong. :-(

The US surgeon general warned the country on Sunday that it will face a “Pearl Harbor moment” in the next week, with an unprecedented numbers of coronavirus deaths expected coast to coast.

“The next week is going to be our Pearl Harbor moment. It’s going to be our 9/11 moment,” Jerome Adams told NBC News’ Meet the Press.

“It’s going to be the hardest moment for many Americans in their entire lives, and we really need to understand that if we want to flatten that curve and get through to the other side, everyone needs to do their part.”

Adams’s thoughts were echoed by Dr Anthony Fauci, the country’s foremost infectious diseases expert.

“Things are going to get bad and we need to be prepared for that,” Fauci said on CBS’s Face the Nation. “It’s going to be shocking to some and it certainly is really disturbing to see that … Just buckle down.

“We’ve got to get through this week that is coming up because it’s going to be a bad week.”

Sorry, the surgeon general's Pearl Harbor analogy is ridiculous; the attack at Pearl was a sneak attack -- no warnings. Covid? We knew quite well in January that the disease was coming and of the need to act.
I think the comparisons to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 may be because of the high numbers that will probably die IMO. What do you think should have been done?

OMG--sounds like he had issues prior to the CODIS-19 crisis
His poor wife..having to live with that.
JMO
That's what concerns me. Those with issues prior to COVID-19. What might set them off with everything going on?

Oh no, I'm so worried about him!!!

The president said today he was called and told of the hospitalization. He was hoping he would be OK but going to a hospital is serious.

We should have prepared for the worst and immediately begun to check and replenish stockpiles. As a start. There are other points to be made, but too contentious for this venue.

The comparisons served a purpose other than to underscore potential loss of life.

Yes, they are referring to the death figures that will be seen this week in America.

Wonder when its going to 'take off' in Canada?? We are somewhat behind the USA but its coming.

This would be perfect in theory. I’ve tried for the last 3 days to order online for curbside pick up from local grocery.
The first day I called the help line only to be told that all spots for the next 6 days were filled and they only take orders 6 days into the future.
I’ve tried their suggestion of attempting at night (11pm-3 am) with no luck.
Today I had to go in as I provide food for others. No limit in shoppers, there were many, I went at 7am, and was 1 of 3 others wearing a mask and gloves.
No employees had masks and few had gloves. People would cut in front of me as I waited 6 ft back to check out.
I feel your frustration at the online, curbside pickup issue.
I have tried all weekend with 4 different stores and no luck.
I will have to venture out tomorrow as our food supply is low and we need to re-stock. UGH
I dread going into any store right now but I do have my mask and gloves and will be wearing them along with cleansing all products going into the house when I get home.
Ive been hearing about people washing their clothes, shoes, purses also which I did not do the first time last month when I went shopping so will do that also plus jump in the shower.
Whatever it takes to keep safe.

I dont think they're reporting that, are they?? He cannot get his fever to break and he looked quite dreadful.

Because he is the Prime Minister, he could be in hospital because its hanging on and not breaking of its own accord. Likely on IV antibiotics etc. and being assessed for venting.
